"We have recently stayed at Chapel House and as a group of 5 adults, 2 children, a baby and 2 dogs, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
Chapel House is in the perfect location for the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants. The property has everything that you could possibly need and the children loved the hot tub. My 9 year old grandson is still asking to go back to “the cottage” 2 weeks later! We had a couple of lovely meals in Sandy Mount House and also in the Oyster Catcher. We will definitely return to Chapel House as soon as we can.
Thank you for your great review-it’s always lovely to have such positive feedback. Chapel house is very special to us too! Property Owner

"Having holidayed in Rhosneigr for decades, this is the best cottage in the best location ever."
It says it all that I have already booked for a week with the family in 2025
-
"Absolutely beautiful cottage, amazing sea views and beautiful decor."
Only drawback is there there is no mention of the small steps into the en-suites and in the downstairs hallway in the description. These are challenging when have mobility needs and did mean we had to pay extra attention to an elderly member of our party at all times through the stay.

"The location of this property was its best feature."
It was spacious enough for eight people and there was private parking for two cars. The cleanliness could be improved. Don't look under the sofa or kitchen island. It also felt a little cluttered too. There were pans in the kitchen that wouldn't work on the hob and many of the cupboards seemed to be filled with everything you didn't need. We ended up piling our food onto the island as there wasn't a lot of storage. All the pillows and duvets are feathers (not great when my husband is allergic to feathers) so we bought pillows and a blanket to sleep under (there were plenty blankets/throws but we didn't fancy sleeping under them). The bunk bedroom is quite small with hardly any storage so is only suitable for children (with their clothes stored in the larger rooms). The owners seemed nice and helpful (they telephoned us to let us know we could access the cottage early for example). Overall I would stay again due to the stunning location, parking and room for two families, but I've stayed in nicer and more comfortable houses.
Hi, thank you for your feedback. We will immediately contact our cleaners about pulling furniture out for a deeper clean. The house is very well stocked which has been commented on many times. Some people like to bake and some people like picnics so we have everything from flasks and containers through to mixing bowls and whisks. We leave two large drawers available for Guest dry goods. There has been no mention of any of the pans not working, so I will personally go over on Friday and check these out. The pillows and duvets are indeed feather as these are kinder to the environment and more luxury in nature. We do have a couple of nonallergic pillows available but we need to know in advance so just drop us a line next time. Thank you again for taking the time to give us your feedback. Kind regards, Emma and Fiona Property Owner

Was a brilliant location for walking our grandson to the beach. Chapel House was a beautiful house and was very clean and comfortable.

"Town, beach and surrounding area are beautiful and we really enjoyed exploring and meeting the friendly locals."
The holiday home is lovely and close to amenities. It was beautiful and had a fabulous sea view. Very comfortable and spotless with plenty of home comforts and extra special touches. This said we did have a few issues which ths quality of our stay. 1. We paid the £200 extra to have and enjoy the hot tub but the jets were not working properly so no bubbles more like a hot bath. We did report this at the time of our stay to the housekeeper but never heard back from her. 2. When we booked we thought it was dog friendly but no dogs are allowed in the bedrooms, I can understand not on the beds. But my pooch usually sleeps in her basket next to the bed. 3. Loose fittings mostly in the bathrooms, so the taps can spin round if your not careful. 4. Really Creaky floor boards upstairs so if your an early riser you enevitably end up waking up the people in the bedrooms sleeping below as it sounds like elephants walking above. 5. The hot tub noise/hum when not in use can be heard, quite loudly in the bunk room below. Woke the people up who were sleeping in the room periodically during the night. 6. Hot water taps and outdoor shower hot water temp is very hot! Please be careful not to burn yourself. 7. We were unable to use the wifi during our stay as could not connect. Kept stating the password was incorrect (9 of us tried and we also rebooted it) Again we reported this during our visit but the matter could not be resolved. Despite this we did have a really lovely time and it was clear that the owners have put alot of thought and effort into making the house homely and providing most things you would need during your stay.
Thanks for your response. We have exchanged emails and I have answered all of these issues as soon as we heard from you. We were in touch three times over the course of your stay about the Wi-Fi but we didn’t hear back from you so assumed you were sorted. The jets were immediately checked upon your leaving and found to be working correctly - we think you may have been pressing the wrong buttons. We have left clearer instructions for future guests - so thank you. Apologies regarding any loose fittings this is a constant issue in holiday lets and taps need to be regularly retightened - we did this straight after your stay, thank you for reporting. The outside shower is an expensive marine grade outdoor fitment but requires a little patience to get the correct temperature but my 80 year old dad managed this quite quickly when we went over to do a thorough house check on the Friday you left. We do not take any reports of maintenance issues or problems lightly. Thank you for your review. Emma and Fiona Property Owner

"The property is very comfortable with a home from home feeling - perfect for our multi- gen family group."
The location is great - almost on the beach, and the sunsets fall in line with the front balcony for fab views. One slight niggle - the kitchen diner floor is very creaky and the noise amplifies in the bedroom (really loud!)

"Amazing holiday house by the beach."

"Fantastic location Lay out brilliant Fantastic views of the sea Just a shame the cleaners didn’t do their job well."
I had to sweep up outside found a brush but unfortunately the shovel had a big hole in it so left all the rubbish to one side. Said there were two freezers in the property only found one in the kitchen wasn’t until later the next day did we find the second freezer and that was locked away outside and was very mouldy. Extractor fans were filthy in kitchen and bathroom. Cobwebs on the skylights that must have been there a while. Round the hot tub hose pipe was just thrown on the floor empty pop can thrown on floor and a plastic container on floor. When you opened the shutters in the bedrooms they were full of dust and black mould inside of the windows. The property was very cluttered with unnecessary things needs a good sort out. It was supposed to be a special weekend for my 70th birthday. But didn’t go as well as expected.
Dear Gordon Thank you for your comments above. Can we just record that during your short stay we sent out our DIY and Maintenance person, our Cleaner and our Hot Tub changeover person. Also in attendance was the Menai Holidays representative. This is the first time that we have EVER had to have all of these people out during a single stay. In my very long and detailed letter to you, we put our hands up where we had fallen short (apologies the freezer had been switched off, there were some minor areas of dust and two xpelair vents were in need of cleaning) but we also pointed out the vast majority of your complaints were very minor and largely frivolous in nature as confirmed to us immediately by the attending Menai Holiday representative. We take our responsibilities as holiday letting owners extremely seriously and always deal promptly with any issues arising during guests’ stays. When the cleaners arrived to address the issues raised, although you knew they were coming you wouldn’t allow them to clean. Similarly we have had wasted callout charges from our DIY and Maintenance person and Hot Tub person as the issues reported were non existent. There are 46 photographs of the house on the website. I think it is clear to anyone looking at these that our style is vintage/antique and not minimalist. I feel ultimately that this was just not the house for you. Best wishes Emma Nickols Property Owner

"Property was very homely and very comfortable for 8 adults."
Absolutely everything you will possibly need is available in the house. Perfect location for bars, restaurants and beaches. Very smooth check in and out. Can’t wait to come back.
Thank you, Kate for the very kind review – this is much appreciated. We’re so glad you had a lovely time at Chapel house despite the very changeable weather.! Property Owner

"Wonderful location, close to bars, restaurants and good takeaways."
Beautiful views down to the sea from the Juliet balcony. Great walks, right from the front door. The balcony with its hot tub is a lovely space for socialising and relaxing… even in the rain! The cottage is well equipped, very comfortable and beautifully presented. We had a relaxing and memorable family holiday.
Thankyou for your lovely feedback- it’s a very special place and we’re so pleased you had such a lovely time even in mid Feb! Property Owner

"Great location and set up."
Perfect position for sandy beach and local pub/restaurants. £200 a bit rich as a supplement for using hot tub even if this was fun. Dog friendly, outdoor shower invaluable. Very minor complaint was that the fridge was not cold enough and we had to waste some food.
Hello, thank you for your feedback - we are really pleased you had a Good holiday. Chapel house is in a great position halfway down the high Street but still with a Sea view. Apologies about the fridge we will look into this. We offer the Hot Tub as an add-on. Some years ago it was included, but the very high cost of electricity, the extremely high cost of changeovers (this is such a time-consuming business and many companies have given up) plus ongoing maintenance and annual services, annual lid replacement - because of the harsh climate - means this is a loss leader for us …..but an extremely popular addition to the property. We will be needing to change the hot tub again soon and this will be in the region of £ 8 to £10,000. From a purely logistical and financial point of view, it would be much easier for us not to provide a hot tub service…. But we know how many people enjoy this and adds to the holiday. Property Owner

"Chapel House is in a great location with views of the very close beach and bay ( 2 minute walk ) from the kitchen’s Juliet balcony upstairs - it being an upside-down house."
The property is thoughtfully decorated throughout and very comfortable, you can see a lot of effort has been put into making it a nice holiday home. It has good facilities and provided plenty of space for our group of 7 aged from 19 to late 70s, who also enjoyed the hot tub out on the decking. The beds were very comfortable. One thing to keep in mind, if you have anyone unsteady on their feet with you, is that between some of the downstairs bedrooms and the hallway/ensuites there are small steps, there are warnings for these but they can catch you out. There was an issue with one of the ensuite showers for the beginning of our stay but this was sorted quickly by the owner who kept us updated. Some of the windows and doors were quite stiff but some WD40 on the hinges, from under the sink, helped us to close/open them! Overall, everyone had a great holiday and Rhosneigr is a great base for a holiday on Anglesey.

"We just loved the closeness to the beach of Chapel House and the fact that it is right in the centre of Rhosneigr."
We were celebrating 2 special birthdays so used Sandymount Hotel for one of the birthday meals. The hot tub was an amazing extra enjoyed by all of our group and to cap it all we had sunny weather for all of our stay. Definitely looking to book again.

"Excellent house, location was perfect right in the centre of Rhosneigr."
Thanks for booking a stay in Chapel House and we appreciate your positive feedback. Regards Emma and Fiona Property Owner

"Beautifully decorated and equipped and a great location."
We had a small maintenance problem and this was resolved quickly and efficiently. The communication with Sykes Holidays, the owner, Fiona and the cleaner was exemplarly. Special mention to Rachel the cleaner who was very proactive in letting us know about leaving arrangements and laundry and most especially for her help in retrieving a ring I had left accidentally and offering to post it back. What a superstar! One small thing to mention to help others: the step down into the shower room is a hazard in the night - my husband did take a tumble and hurt himself. Not sure what you can do about that however. Beds in the twin room are apparently quite uncomfortable, but all the others were great. We had a lovely week however and would recommend the house and area to others with no hestitation.
Thankyou for your lovely and helpful review. There is a small step down to the en-suite in the ‘ Seahorse’ bedroom and we will replace the ‘ safety warning’ sign as this has obviously gone missing.-we’re so sorry for the tumble. Thankyou again Fiona Property Owner

"We did have issues with the cleanliness of the property and general upkeep which we complained about the following day after arrival."
Sykes and the owners have all the details and photographs, which we have been assured will be addressed. I hope that they take on board all our issues, which will no doubt stop any future complaints. It definitely spoilt the beginning of our three day break booked for a very special occasion.
We thank you again for your feedback and apologise profusely that the house wasn’t to your satisfaction on arrival. This was a great disappointment to us as well and we assure you that we have taken steps to rectify the situation having had an immediate meeting with our Housekeeping team. We are proud of our property and this sort of blip is totally out of character for us. We thank you again for drawing matters to our attention. I know the cleaners came straight back out after your initial call but this should not have been necessary. Sincere apologies again. Emma and Fiona. Property Owner

"Chapel House was perfect for our family holiday-6 adults, a baby and dog away for 4 days over Christmas."
Beautifully decorated and furnished with a kitchen perfectly equipped with everything needed for a lot of Christmas cooking. The bedrooms were a good size and the beds were really comfortable. Having two cosy lounge areas separated by a dual aspect log burner enabled people to have a bit of quiet if needed. Being a two minute walk from the beach and being able to catch a glimpse of the sea from the kitchen topped off a perfect holiday stay.
Thankyou for that lovely feedback. We’re so pleased you had such a good time and hope that one day you’ll be back! A happy new year to you and all your family. Fiona Clark Property Owner

"Small blip, we booked hot tub which was not ready when we arrived, after many calls Sykes admitted it was their fault for not adding it but wanted to charge us."
Eventually they sorted it free of charge. Turned unhappy customers into happy ones, Thankyou. Very enjoyable stay, all the family enjoyed chapel house from kids to grandparents. Very well equipped, want for nothing, could even shower the 2 dogs outside in warm water and after a day on the beach was well needed. Thanks to the owners who have thought of everything.
Thankyou for your lovely comments. We’re sorry about the confusion with the hot tub but relieved that Sykes got that sorted out! We’re really pleased you had such a good week and hope you return in the future. Thanks agai Property Owner

"Location is superb - you could almost fall onto the beach; it's about a 1 minute walk."
Mojo's (under new management and refurbed from 15/7, Noto's (fab new coffee shop), Sandy Mount House (gorgeous place for a drink/food and Starvation (drinks/snacks/live music) are all within a minute's walk on the same street. Oyster Catcher is a pleasant 20 minute walk across the sand dunes or shorter if you want to walk avoiding the beach. The balcony and table and chairs at the back of Chapel House house are a real sun trap, so even if the wind is blowing off the sea, you are sheltered. Chapel House is equipped with everything you need and more - including towels, buckets and spades for the beach and even a drying room. Having read a previous review, I was concerned about a couple of points that had been rasied, but I needn't have been as the house was spotlessly clean. I think it's important to realise that no rental property is 100% perfect and no matter what the owner does to address issues, they can't be all seeing all-knowing! Things go wrong and break in houses! We had a couple of minor issues - the first was that the zip and link hadn't been zipped in the twin bedroom: However, this was down to Sykes's non-responsiveness, NOT the owners of Chapel House. My experience with the owner was that she was incredibly helpful and super responsive. She went above and beyond to get any niggles or queries sorted promptly and with good grace.

"Beautiful property but in need of a deep clean and maintenance."
Seems to only have had a surface clean on our arrival, filthy/Sticky dining table and outside table (black dog hairs!) The sky light on the dining area was covered in cobwebs and the skirtings and shelves were very dusty. The bedding in the bunk room doesn’t seem to have been changed, hairs and dirt on the sheet! The toilets in the main bathroom and main en suite had loose handles which we reported on the morning of Saturday along with the shower that had fallen away from the wall. Very disappointed
Dear Kathryn We are really sorry to hear that you were disappointed with a couple of issues around the house. As regards the sticky table I know this has been mentioned historically in our house maintenance diary for guests to update. This is something most people will come across at some point - it often happens on, for example, pub tables. The surface becomes tacky due to antibacterial products reacting with a hard wax finish. It is clean but just not very pleasant. We are an extremely popular house and very busy, often booked back to back from January to the end of October. However prior to your stay we had blocked off a week in May this year. The house was deep cleaned and repainted. Prior to this a carpenter came out and sanded back the table and the centre unit and resealed both with a diamond hard satin varnish. We were therefore surprised to hear of the stickiness. Our housekeeper has been out today and checked and says there is no stickiness/tackiness on either of these surfaces. I believe we offered to send the plumber out while you were there to sort out the shower but you were happy to use the alternative bathrooms. Loose toilet handles are an annoying on-going issue in holiday let properties but we will of course attend to these. I have reported the cobwebs and dusty shelf to our housekeeper. I think the only high shelves are in the vestry bedroom but these have been attended to, however, apologies for this. I’ve also checked and I’m told that the cleaners wipe the skirting boards weekly but I have insisted that they are very particular about this going forward. I am assured that the bedding was changed and clean but I can only apologise if this wasn’t to your full satisfaction. We use high-quality Egyptian 100% cotton sheets and have a large back up quantity in the utility room so there would be no reason that the bed would not have been changed. There is a telephone number clearly displayed in the house and any of our guests are welcome to pick up the phone to our housekeepers while they are staying if there are any issues otherwise report them immediately to Menai holiday properties so that we can deal with issues during and not after your stay. However we always welcome feedback and thank you for drawing our attention to these issues. We would welcome you back again any time, Kind regards EMMA NICKOLS (Co-owner) Property Owner

"Fantastic house in a great location."
4 adults and 5 children and 2 dogs have stayed here very comfortably. The kids have spent most of the week in the hot tub. Rhosneigr beach is great for rock pooling, lots of sea glass and shells. Perfect spot for sunsets and watching the boats. Very comfortable beds and everything you’d need in the kitchen. Asda delivery on the first night but there’s also a well stocked shop on the high street and a good fish and chip shop. Everything within a very short walk away and a great ice cream parlour over the road. A BBQ is also available at Chapel house, a few body boards and buckets and spades. Our week has been amazing, thanks for having us. We all hope to return back soon x
Thank you Amy for your lovely review. Rhosneigr is such a fun place. We are so pleased to hear that you had a great time with your family and dogs and so hope that you make it back to see us again soon. Kind regards Emma Nickols Property Owner

"(1) Extremely sticky and unhygienic dining table and kitchen island wooden work surfaces that 'hold' crumbs and other detritus."
This stickiness has been mentioned again and again in the book left by the owners for comments and breakages — from 2020! Where a certain varnish has been used on tables and then a cleaner reacts with it the tables are extremely yuck provoking because of the thought of everything, over the years, that has and is stuck on their surfaces. It is a failing that this has not been dealt with. (2) There needs a deep Spring Clean. The bed's head boards are covered in dust/skin. The mattress cover had hairs on it and had dirty marks too. I had to take anti-histamines because of a reaction to dust and prob dog hairs left about the otherwise beautiful house. (3) The 'stair gate' device has obviously not been working for some time and unfortunately because the bracket had pulled itself out of the wall was unusable. This was inconvenient because we have three dogs and we had to devise a 'gate' by using the ironing board and a clothes dryer. (4) The frying pans need replacing. They are scraped and no longer non-stick and therefore not fit for purpose. The non-stick coating is known not to be a good thing to ingest, food cooked unevenly and produced a repulsive response in myself when I used they because they were so shabby. The cottage is obviously a well designed and whoever did the interior design has made some wonderful decisions that I enjoyed and appreciated. Indeed the style, comfort and design of Chapel House was a joy and a delight. It is the cleanliness and cleaning regime and lack of action on named issues and faults that let the property down. I know we chose and are luckily able to pay for the privilege of staying at Chapel House but it is a premium price and with that cost I expect a certain level of cleanliness. We have to pay extra for each dog to cover cleaning costs too but cannot see how this money is used. We did have a lovely holiday as the weather was amazingly warm and the house is charming.

"This is a lovely beach home."
Comfortable and stylish. Great that it has 4 bathrooms & 4 bedrooms. Plenty of space. Super hot tub. But best of all it’s near the beach. I’m so sad we can’t book it for the same dates next year. Let me know if it does become available full 7 days from 27th August. Thank you

"Our second time at Chapel House and another lovely week."
A really comfortable house in a fantastic location. The hot tub was an extra luxury, appreciated by young and old! The house is well kitted out, making cooking at home really easy. There are places we could all get together - playing Scrabble round the dining table, but also enough room for everyone to go off and do their own thing as well. Lovely friendly and helpful owners - we couldn't have asked for more!
-
"Property was great!"
With the kitchen being upstairs and above the master bedroom the floorboards were really loud, not ideal if people in the party either stay up late or get up early. Sykes were really hard to get hold of throughout and never came back about an early check in. Standard of properties on the site make up for the service
-
"Ty Capel is most definitely one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in both in terms of facilities and comfort but also location."
All the bedrooms have double beds (one is slightly smaller but still a double) which for a family of all adults is a must which is one of the reasons we chose this property. The other was the hot tub! There is fantastic living areas on the first floor with great views across the bay and the beach which at sunset are just stunning. The photos in the advert and reality match, which is always something I worry about when booking accommodation. The proximity to the beach, to shops, to restaurants and cafes is excellent and to be honest once you have done a "big" shop you probably don't need a car unless you want to explore the island. The only "negative" point I would make is that there are no additional chemicals left for the hot tub which considering we were there for a week (and we had paid extra for the use) I do think needs to be addressed. Without the appropriate testing equipment and top up chemicals it did concern me that there could be health issues. But this did not in any way distract from our great experience of this house.
-
"Brilliant location - really close to shops and beach."
Loved the hot tub too! A really well resourced house with everything we could need. The boiler house was brilliant for getting towels and washing dried. We had a really relaxing and enjoyable week and are hoping to rebook for next year.
-
"Chapel House is a beautiful place on an idyllic location."
It is somewhere you can visit all year round and equally enjoy yourself. The pictures do not adequately reflect how beautiful the house is, it was spotless and welcoming. We enjoyed our short break much we booked another week.
-
"Stunningly beautiful house and location."
Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Perfect for a short break with family and friends. Thank you!
-
"Fabulous location and accommodation, very secure for doggies in the garden and parking, numerous outdoor seating areas."
Only comments I would like to make would be the addition of dvd player for cold or rainy days and dishwasher could do with a clean as it appears it is leaving dirty food remains on some of the kitchen items. All round a fabulous holiday and would recommend this to friends or family.
-
"We had a great holiday in this fantastic cottage."
What a great way to celebrate our Ruby Wedding with all our family. Super weather so made the most of the beach and the ice cream parlour and of course the hot tub.
