  • "Really great property and perfect for our large family group with ages ranging from 3 to 80."

The property had everything we needed and we had no issues. Great views from the 1st and 2nd floors. It is a great idea to have loads of plastic glasses. Five minute walk to the local shop and fish & chip shop. Ten minute walk to the wonderful beach. Location was superb. If there were any quibbles, more chairs in the downstairs kitchen would have been useful. And the BBQ is a bit long in the tooth. But we had a great holiday so thanks.

We’re delighted that you enjoyed your stay and we hope you’ll come back to Maesteg in the future. We will consider having chairs in the downstairs kitchen/utility and also replacing the BBQ. Very Best Wishes Property Owner

  • "The house was large and very well equipped apart from a dearth of matching wine/ champagne glasses."

6 wine glasses of assorted size and shape and several small plastic champagne flutes. Fortunately Adam the caretaker provided a dozen of each very quickly. Likewise with the broken microwave which he replaced speedily. The main issues were noise from the adjoining property, especially noticeable in the downstairs bedroom which could be improved with extra wall insulation. Sunday night the loud shouting went on till 3.45 am. The other issue was the lack of heating in the downstairs rooms. We managed finally to find a switch to turn on the heated towel rail in the downstairs bathroom but during a very wet and cold week this was not adequate. Finally the information folder left scanty instructions for the heating in general. On the plus side the property was spotlessly clean, beds and duvets were lovely and comfortable. The standard of crockery, cutlery and cooking/ baking equipment was very high.

I'm glad you found the property clean and comfy, thank you for all your comments. I do apologise regarding the glasses and microwave and am glad that the houskeeper resolved these quickly for you by providing more glasses and replacing the microwave Regarding any noise, thank you for letting me know, I will liaise with the neigbouring property managers regarding this. I hope the housekeeper advised you that the washer was also a dryer so could be used to dry towels in the interim and I'm glad you found the switch. The heating is on a hive system and I will update the heating info at the property as soon as possible. Thank you again for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "House was amazing- spacious and well equipped."

Only downside was the broken dishwasher and en-suite shower that we didn’t know about until we arrived. Very late in getting them fixed (or not fixed in the case of the dishwasher). However Sykes did communicate with us well and contacted the owner of the property to try and sort the issues. Would definitely want to book the house again in the near future - perfect for groups/ families and enjoyed daily sunsets over the sea!

The shower in one of the ensuites unfortunately took longer than hoped, due to the ordering of the suitable shower valve and getting the job booked with the builder. A new valve and replacement wall tiles where completed on the 8th of July . The bottom drawer of the two drawer dishwasher wouldn’t empty, again, this problem was found during the changeover on 3rd July. Unfortunately Fisher & Paykel engineers are hard to come by and the first available visit was 28th July, to avoid any further delays the drawers have now been replaced with one standard dishwasher. With regard to the outside seating, there is a secondary picnic table and fixed seating for six peplum in the front of the property. We shall organise for this seating to be located near to the main eating area to accommodate large groups. Property Owner
