  • "The house is absolutely beautiful - plenty of spacious rooms."

Hot tub was a lovely touch and the kitchen open plan was perfect for our stay and even had eggs, cakes, Prosecco on our arrival which was lovely. Few minor things like door handles not secure on a few rooms, not enough toilet roll etc. The road to the house was unexpected- like an off road track and a few who stayed got lost along the way. A sign by the main road would be handy for future guests. But the house is worth the drive up the track road. Would recommend and stay again!

  • "This was our 2nd time here."

What a place, it's huge. It's not advertised as wheelchair friendly, but it is. We had an electric chair user, with limited mobility and we could take her everywhere she wanted to go. There are some beds with bedframes that a mobile hoist can fit underneath (we took our own). Doors are plenty wide enough to get through, all on one level, no stairs or raised door frames. Underfloor heating keeps everywhere toasty. It's so tranquil with spectacular views too. We got an Asda delivery to save transporting our own food/drink. When in the living area you cannot hear from the bedrooms as it's built in a square with a courtyard in the middle. We absolutely love the place and we never got lost this time

! We have just come back from 3 days away with the family and what an amazing time we all had! The house is stunning and the plot it’s on is even better. There is plenty to do around the house and local walks to keep you busy! The kitchen and open plan living room is amazing looking out into valleys! We couldn’t as for a better host then Tony, he was very contactable and he done his best to go above and beyond anything we asked for. Having a host that trusts you and leaves you to get on with things but is always only a text away is amazing! Me and the family will 100% be returning here (hopefully the weather is a little brighter next time) Thank you again Tony.

  • "This property could be totally amazing if a few things were sorted out and some maintenance done."

The windows were very dirty (also noted by the previous renters) the kitchen needs a deep clean (we had to vacuum and wipe out the cupboards as they were filthy). There were not enough wine glasses so we bought 6 more and left them at the property. There were no mattress protectors on the beds which is extremely unhygienic and some of the mattresses need changing as they are past it. The curtains in the lounge are hanging off their hooks also previously mentioned by other renters. The on/off switch on the dishwasher on the island is broken and you have to stick your finger in the gap to switch the machine on (not sure how safe this is). Those are all the gripes but we were a family of 3 children and 12 adults and we had a great stay. The photos do not do the house justice. The boot room was fantastic to put coats and walking boots and having a large utility room was a real blessing. There is plenty of space for people to go off and relax and the kitchen is amazing as its huge and so light with windows on both sides. The views are stunning and the kids loved the hot tub which was super warm. Thank you for the Prosecco and welsh cakes left for us which was a lovely touch. All in all a great stay just needs a bit more love and care put into the property.

  • "We have just returned from a great weekend away at Hen Hafod, the house is perfect for socialising and accommodating the 14 of us (age range 2-70)."

The location is beautiful and there are stunning views from the property. Unfortunately we did hit a few snags which meant we couldn’t justify a 5/5. We barely had hot water the whole weekend, Tony was very helpful and sent someone to sort it which helped for that evening but it was back to tepid showers again after that. It also made cleaning dishes unbearable as the water was freezing from the kitchen tap! The cleanliness/maintenance we scored a bit lower as we felt it lacked a bit, the windows weren’t very clean, glasses/mugs had water in (perhaps from previous guests?). Maintenance - it took us a good 5/10 minutes to open the front door, the key was so stiff but this could have been down to how cold it was! A few of the windows are leaking in the main social area and one of the bathrooms smelt so damp we had to keep the window open the whole time which wasn’t ideal as it was freezing! However apart from not having hot water these things did not affect our stay at all, we really enjoyed the hot tub and games room and if the hot water got sorted we would 100% go back!

  • "HenHafod is a lovely holiday property for a large family gathering."

It is spacious with open country views towards the mountains. The hot tub was a huge bonus and enjoyed by the family. The games room provided additional entertainment although there wasn’t a full set of pool balls. The property was well equipped and clean. We appreciated the complementary Welsh cakes, tea and Prosecco which was a nice touch. However toilet rolls, hand soap and dish washer tablets would have been helpful. We would like to thank the owner for their hospitality and would definitely recommend HenHafod

  • "We had a lovely stay at Hen Hafod, the whole family stayed from aged 5 to 75."

Everyone agreed the house had everything we needed. The various bedroom options meant we could accommodate everyone and the various spaces meant we had space to read a book or watch the TV or the kids place games. The outdoor space was fantastic and not expected. Even with the wet weather we were able to enjoy the gardens and hot tub. The views were amazing and plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the view. Overall we all enjoyed cooking and eating together as a family and enjoying the open plan living. We had a minor issue with being unable to close an outdoor door and some doors would not lock. A quick call to Tony who came out the same day to secure them for us. The bathrooms were great and the large shower rooms fantastic. We had a child with us with limited mobility and he enjoyed the layout of the property with only a couple of steps. We all felt that the bedrooms were lacking storage shelves/drawers and some rooms need a chest of drawers especially the family bedroom. Wardrobes look nice but no one wants to hang lots of little people clothes on hangers. We did notice one wardrobe smelled awful inside so we didn't use that at all. Overall the house was tidy and clean on arrival. Just a few maintenance jobs such as missing towel hooks in bathrooms and a change of furniture in our opinion. We all enjoyed the house so much we booked again for next year before we left. Thank you for the welcome gifts which were consumed on the first evening.

This was our 2nd visit, the house and area it's in is great, only problem from last year and the same complaint is no maintenance hasnt been done I did this review last year and said bedroom doors to garden either wont open or wont lock there is a towel in a cupboard in toilet that stinks been there since last year, think its covering a leak, doors to quadrant wont lock, hot tub cover doesnt lock down and was broken on the top when we got there, I know the place is booked up all year but surely they have to find time to do these small repairs, I will say thanks for coming and changing the water in the hot tub for us and for coming and changing some bulbs also games room needs some attention especially the pool table, these are mainly small jobs that need to be done but the house is fabulous for families there was 14 of us and I would definitely go again

  • "We had a fabulous time at Hen Hafod!"

16 of us visited for the weekend and were not disappointed. The living space is super, large seating area with dining table, alongside a spacious kitchen with outdoor seating on both sides. Even though it rained the whole weekend we did get a break in the weather for a couple of hours so we drove to the Oyster Catcher, beach front bar for some drinks, food and a walk along the beach, roughly 20min drive. Worth the trip if you want an afternoon out the house. The hot tub is a great addition to the outside seating area with amazing views. The beds are comfortable and good showers too. We would book again :) Only two things to feedback - some more cooking utensils would be great when you're cooking and serving for 16 and the postcode takes you to the wrong address, drive back out and take a left, not even a minute drive and you'll see the mirror on the wall as the owner has stated, take that left past a couple of houses and follow the road up taking a right at the fork. You do think you're on the wrong track as you couldnt turn around in a car but keep going and the house is up on the hill to get those fabulous views!

Lovely welcome basket of prosecco, milk etc waiting for us. Rooms were excellent, our family of 11 fitted in easily, 3 teenagers and 2 x 11 year olds found plenty to amuse themselves leaving us 6 adults time to chill. Excellent kitchen facilities, lounge area was amazing, and inner courtyard was a lovely chilled space. Children loved all outdoor space and amenities, and hot tub was a hit with everyone. Such a quiet rural location with spectacular views. Underfloor heating keeps the whole place hot which i loved, but was too hot for others. Can't please everyone. Everything we needed was there for our weekend away. There were 14 of us and was a massive amount of space. As the bungalow is in a square with a courtyard in the middle, you can walk the entire bungalow. The bedrooms are nowhere near the living area (Party room, we called it) so you could go to bed early and not be disturbed. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. Towels were lovely and big and fluffy. Beds were super comfy too. Great property will definitely be returning. Perfect location.

The views are incredible and the house was simply stunning; if there was an option to vote that it was even better in person that the listing suggested, I would have selected that option! The house was so well equipped with everything we could possible need. It was great for chilling out with the family, enjoying the local area for a walk, playing sports on the grounds, sharing group meals together and having a little celebration on the Saturday night. Lovely location. Very peaceful and lots of facilities for everyone. Would not hesitate in staying again. Great house for family gatherings. However if being a little picky there are a few maintenance issues. Some of the outdoor doors do not lock. One door leads straight into the bedroom. Shower not working properly. An amazing property in an amazing location, property was equipped beyond our expectations to meet the needs of all 14 of us all eating and relaxing at night, parking for all our cars too had a great week with all the family and would definitely visit again, inside is huge and outside set in its own grounds has lots to offer, met the owner when he was delivering more wood for the fire and what a lovely bloke very friendly so in all a great stay, if being picky I would say property could do with the windows cleaning at the front to really enjoy the view and some exterior door handles sorting as hard to lock, some of the exterior light bulbs had gone, no instructions in the property about day of departure or hot tub maintenance as after the 4th day it was not usable, games room is in the garage so very cold in winter so maybe could do with some sort of fan heater but these are just some recommendations for future visits, thanks to everyone for a super break

  • "An absolutely beautiful property in an excellent location."

Our stay ran smoothly and we all had an excellent family weekend here. Great access to local shops and Beaumaris and Red Wharf Bay were only a 10 minute drive away. Directions were clear for finding the property. We all found it, even in the dark! The hot tub was an excellent feature which we all enjoyed! We feel a couple of small touches would have made this stay better, such as a toilet roll in each bathroom, maybe some logs/kindling for the fire and some manuals to help work some of the appliances. There’s a couple of maintenance jobs to do such as securing some toilet seats and reattaching the towel holder in one of the bathrooms. These however are just small issues which didn’t effect our overall stay. We would love to return to this property. Thank you.
