Some minor maintenance is needed eg lock on bathroom door (reported by others)

  • "Thank you for a lovely week."

Carreg is very compact but has everything you need for a week away. The property was easily accessible to everything in the Bay and the surrounding area. We had a dog with us and he settled into the small area well. It felt comfortable in all areas. The bed might be too hard for some but we found it okay. It’s a shame the property does not have direct access to the lovely garden at the back but we accept why this is. We would definitely visit again!

Beautiful garden & views . Owners provided Milk ,tea & coffee & a lovely Welsh cake & Bottle of prosecco on arrival Which is a lovely touch. Unfortunately we felt as the property is let down by inadequate cleaning & Maintenance. Oven not clean, toaster useless. Bathroom in need of an update , Could not hang clothes in wardrobe in bathroom because of dust & spider webs . Dust everywhere in the property. Outside there are new table & Chairs which we found very uncomfortable. We wished we had taken our own folding chairs to enjoy the Beautiful outdoor space. This property has bags of potential if Standard of cleanliness & maintenance could be improved.

. Could have done with a rear door off the kitchen to enjoy the rear garden a lot more. Ideal for a weeks holiday for two with good off road parking on a relatively quite road.

  • "The cottage is and its furnishings is showing signs of tiredness."

for example: The bed needs to be replaced. (very noisy when getting out or turning over) The entrance door and its furnishings is in need of some urgent maintenance. The settee is very uncomfortable. The cleanliness of the cottage is not what we expected. Cobwebs in corners and on work tops. Garden furniture well past its sell by date and is in a dangerous condition, i.e. the chairs are on the point of collapsing and causing an injury to the person sitting on them. Putting these points to one side the cottage is in a well located position and has its own garden. A small amount of investment in the furnishings would be welcomed, however this did not dampen our holiday and would be prepared to go again if these points are taken on board and furnishings are replaced. Very clean and well looked after. The only thing that stopped me giving this a 5 star rating was the bed. The creaking and groaning from the bed base was dreadful. It most definitely needs replacing. Other than that for the two of us, it was ideal.

    1) Lets start at the front door, greeted with dead plants. 2) The bed was broken and needs replacing. 3) The bathroom that thought it was a kitchen, with kitchen units and two wine racks, WHY !! as well as a wardrobe !! The handles on the doors where rusty and no towel rails. 4) In the lounge area the nest of tables had broken legs. 5) The oven was dirty obviously from previous clients. 6) The outside furniture needed replacing. Certainly not value for money, would not recommend this property.

Being dog friendly is great but our small dog is never off lead and with no gate at the side or driveway we couldn't relax in the lovely back garden. Even If you secured the small access at the left of the property with a small gate of some kind that would have helped. The table and chairs in the garden were a little tired and the wiring behind the TV very messy which I did have to tidy due to my OCD and selling TV's etc for a living :-) Kelvin was very reachable and always responded in good time to any questions I had. Amazing location, and only a short drive to other towns and locations. Would defo stay here again.

A nice little detached cottage well off the main road so nice and quiet. Only a 5 minute walk and you are onto the main beach or a little further to the numerous little coves dotted around the bay. A spaceous maintained garden to sit in but had to be careful with our dog as its not fenced off either side of the cottage which is a shame for a dog friendly property. We had one small issue which was rectified straightaway by the caretaker. Only negatives we found was that the sofa was not the comfiest and the bed mattress was ok for us but the base was very creaky. Also would of been good to have an outside tap to wash the dogs feet. We will definitely be visiting again.

  • "The cottage was in a lovely location and we had a great holiday."

We didn't get to use the back garden but it was a great private area that would be fantastic in the summer. The off road parking was much appreciated. It was absolutely filthy behind the bed but otherwise the rest of the cottage was very clean. I dropped something down the back of the bed and in retrieving it I was disgusted (which isn't like me because I am quite relaxed about cleanliness). The cottage was warm and comfortable. The lack of cutlery and crockery was annoying as it meant that we couldn't use the dishwasher - e.g. 2 bowls and 2 large plates, 4 knives and 4 forks is not enough for self catering. We had to wash up after meals so we had enough crockery and cutlery for the next meal - this was a major annoyance. It would also be good to have a towel rail for the towels in the bathroom. The owner should also know that the shower cubicle leaks quite significantly.

There are few amenities and the only open public toilets are horrendous. The restaurants are fine but over the weekend were already fully booked and only one take-away cafe was open. This meant that we mostly catered for ourselves There were no laundry facilities at the cottage as these had been closed because of Covid and a clothes line outside instead would have been helpful. The patio was only in sun in the afternoon and evening and a smaller patio at the other side of the garden would have been lovely for the morning. It was a very pretty cottage and a convenient base for days on the beach.

The cottage is cosy in a nice location, well set out but, the bathroom was a revaluation. Never seen a fitted wardrobe or two wine racks in a bathroom and a shower where the silver shower hose was black with mould and black mould in all areas of the sealant, not to mention the prolific pubic hairs all around the floor of the toilet! Reading previous occupants comments revealed that these have been reported before and not cleaned. This could be a gem of a location but needs quite a bit of TLC before it reaches full marks!

  • "Having had experience of other holiday cottages, I feel able to offer some constructive critique."

Firstly I would say that we had a wonderful week in Trearddur - it’s a lovely location and conducive to restorative rest and relaxation. The location of the cottage is ideal. The cottage itself is comfortable and fine for 2 people. It lacks natural light so if the weather is not fine it can be claustrophobic in the living area. The amenities are fine, apart perhaps from a fridge which is difficult to access (particularly the lower shelves) in its current location and the lack of a washing machine/airer/washing line. Wi-fi is not really as advertised as you need to move away from the cottage to a nearby central area which is accessed by a key which hangs in the kitchen and was not noticed by us until the day before our departure. In this regard a welcome folder of detailed information might be better than sheets of A4 posted in the kitchen. The garden is nice although the garden furniture is pretty worn and not in keeping with the otherwise good quality provision in the cottage. We took our own chairs and were able to relax in the garden; this would not have been as enjoyable had we had to use what is in place. Finally the welcome pack, including the bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch and was appreciated.

  • "A lovely bijou cottage that catered for every need."

Very well equipped and a great base to explore from. We were grateful for the thoughtful welcome pack. Previous comments we had read suggested a problem with saucepans being old. This is no longer the case, they were virtually new. No complaints in the kitchen! Our only “ criticism “ would be that whilst we understand cost to be kept to minimum, it could benefit from updating some useable cushions to replace those already there, ( they are flat and offer no support on the sofa). The pillows in the bedroom were a tad lifeless too but we had brought our own anyhow just incase. Garden was lovely too, but the furniture again, neglected and some could do with being disposed of ax unusable. It’s a shame there wasn’t a small fence though to keep our dog from escaping, but obviously we stayed with him the whole time. These are only small things, and didn’t spoil our stay, but intended only as positive feedback. It’s a really well looked after property otherwise. Loved it ****
