  • "Our Christmas break at Capel Hermon was nothing short of extraordinary."

The property exceeded all our expectations; the spaciousness and decor create an ambiance that truly feels like a ‘luxurious’ home away from home. Sean's responsiveness was great, also adding Christmas surprises, from festive decorations to a thoughtful turkey tray for the big day! Leaving this property was bittersweet, and we're already counting the days until our next visit!

Light and airy. Comfortable beds. Some noise from road, but did get use to that and would not put me off rebooking. Friendly owner who kept in touch by text. Perfect place for a bit of exploring and beaches.

Hi Kevin. Glad you had a great stay and were happy with the cottage. We exchanged quite a few texts during your visit and you didn’t mention your concerns re housekeeping. It would have been really easy to resolve if you had just let us know. Best regards, Sean Property Owner

  • "I wanted to take the family for a mid-summer week’s break to Anglesey to show them the places that I liked – Trearddur Bay, South Stack, Newborough Forest so I needed a location/place that fitted, and Capel Hermon (CH) did the job perfectly."

Arrival (and departure) was easy. Tesco shop arrived, got more provisions from Anglesey Fine Foods in Valley (very nearby) and we were ready to relax. CH is spacious and comfortable for 4 adults, 2 little fellas, aged 5 years and 9 months, plus a dog that loved walks. The living area was fantastic, especially when we had 2 adult visitors and for the littlest to practice his crawling. The dining room table allowed us all to sit comfortably. Son in law managed to find time to read 2 books from the many in “CH’s library”. This was a bonus because the weather wasn’t brilliant, and we could do lots indoors. All the beds in the 3 bedrooms were comfortable and sleeping was easy. Found more places at Rhosneigr and Tywyn Mawr – Sandy Beach – excellent for dog walking. (Enclosed garden was also secure to let the dog out). A lovely holiday. Hope you like the gnome we left behind as a huge thank you!

Thanks, Rose and John. So glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again at Capel Hermon soon. Property Owner

The house is spacious and cheerfully decorated and a lot of thought has gone into renters' needs including kitchen equipment, books, games etc. It's nice to see the chapel and period detail retained in places. We needed to make contact with the owner on one matter and this was responded to very quickly and resolved. It did not detract from our holiday at all and in fact it was nice to feel there was a human behind the booking administration! We would definitely visit again!

  • "The cottage is close to the town and A55."

Unfortunately we found the noise from the road was very disturbing. We thought it was in a quiet area away from the town but actually the cottage is on a main road. We live in a very peaceful area with little traffic passing by. So we found the noise very disturbing and we didn’t sleep well. We didn’t close the windows of the bedrooms because it was so hot and stuffy during our stay. We wish the owner would provide some electrical fans in the house so we could close the windows. We couldn’t relax in the garden because of the heavy traffic passing by. First night water leaked from the shower upstairs to downstairs through the ceiling lights which was terrifying. Fortunately the owner had the shower fixed the next day but the unpleasant smell from the damp rug downstairs took 3 days to dry out . The oven was dirty and didn’t work. The owner did provide toilet rolls.

We are sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay with us. The new shower, which was fitted 3 months’ ago, did indeed leak on the first night of your stay and we are genuinely sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. I am, however, pleased to say it was repaired under warranty by lunchtime the very next day (a Saturday). In sorting out the shower, we exchanged over a dozen texts and several phonecalls and I am therefore at a loss to understand why you didn’t mention any of your other concerns. In truth there is nothing I can do about the location of our property but I must correct your assertion that we are close to the A55 and the town: we are over 2km from the A55 and 2.5km from the village of Valley. Llanynghenedal itself is a tiny village and the Valley-Cemaes road is not particularly busy. Needless to say, your other concerns will be quickly and easily addressed now that we are aware of them. I hope that future guests will understand the context of this negative review and will be reassured that any issues will always be quickly resolved through good communication. Property Owner

Great place to base yourself and nothing too far away, especially convenient for Rhosneigr, Rhoscolyn, Church Bay.. to name a few. The house itself, was nicely decorated, lots of natural light, comfortable and had everything we needed. There’s parking right outside and the garden can be secured with the front gate for those taking a dog. No sea view, but you overlook fields to the front. The neighbours are friendly too! I’d go back in a heartbeat!

  • "Hi!, Our holiday was great fun and , Capel Hermon the cottage its self was very nice, but the cleanliness has a lot to be desired."

The kitchen utensil drawer had human hairs in, which we had to clean out and, wash all utensil. The oven is absolutely covered in burnt on fat. the kitchen cupboards doors were dirty, which had to be cleaned before I could use them. someone had spilled coffee all down the washing machine door and the flour and boards were all sticky and, it meant you were sticking to the floor. Which I cleaned. In the bedrooms cobwebs full of dust were hanging from the ceiling, which I had to clean off before getting in to bed. the walls were all dusty which had to be cleaned. I could go on and on. It was such a shame, it needed a really good deep clean, it looked like it had not been cleaned in a while, We also had issue with the hot water, upstairs in the two bathrooms, you could not have a hot shower, it ran hot and cold, you could definitely not use the bath, because we couldn't get hot water. I am sorry but it was for me unacceptable. The property itself could be beautiful, if it was a beautiful place, but I do not expect to clean the property before we start our holiday, also the quilts inside the quilt covers had blood stains on them. but we did enjoy our stay, but it was disappointing. I am sorry but I think I did need to say something.

We were sorry to receive this feedback at the end of your stay, It is really disappointing that you didn’t contact either Sykes/Menai or us at any time during your stay and nor did you take any photos of the issues you describe. In either case, we could quickly have sent someone to address your concerns and this unkind review would have been unnecessary. For the reassurance of future guests, we continue to have the utmost confidence in our housekeeping team. When we visited two weeks ago, we were as happy with the cleanliness of the cottage as everyone else published here. However, we are returning to the cottage this weekend and will be investigating, together with our cleaning team and Menai Holiday representatives, all of the points raised here. To our future guests, please read beyond this anomaly to all of the great reviews below. We look forward to welcoming you to Capel Hermon. Property Owner

Spiders and there webs where in the kitchen and ground floor shower and most corners. The kitchen tops where dirty and some of the cooking equipment well past the useable state. We complained to the owners who called us prior to arriving so we had there number but I don't know if that achieved anything for the next occupants. I will continue to use Sykes but I was disappointed to have to clean most of the house surfaces to be sure they where clean after a 3.5 hour journey. This property had NOT been cleaned as it should, which means we don't know how much it wasn't cleaned, NOT GOOD.

Plenty of power points, a decent size TV and a Blu-ray DVD player allow for plenty of entertainment if the weather's bad, although we were extremely fortunate in our choice of weeks and only had rain on one and a half days. Sean and Caroline have created a stunning, but nonetheless comfortable holiday home. The ‘Capel’ is well located for the beaches and we followed the owners’ advice and walked to a beautiful beach - a real hidden gem! We had fantastic weather, but the joy of the place are the thick walls, which keep it cool. We loved every moment and would strongly recommend the Capel. Anglesey is a lovely place- a real escape from commercialism and the daily troubles we all face these days. We even had a ‘free’ show from the Red Arrows and the back drop of this amazing aerial show on this stunning coast was not to be missed- even if the MOD didn’t want us to watch!

Bodedern 1.3 miles.

Boasting contemporary style and a unique structure due to its previous use as a chapel, this wonderful conversion is suitable to host a group of six looking to uncover the wonder of the Isle of Anglesey.

Sitting in the idyllic village of Llanynghenedl, this chapel conversion is best suited to friends or families, with an open-plan layout hosting all the essentials you could need for your self-catered stay.

Step inside to uncover the contemporary delights, to be greeted by a snug sitting area with plush sofas inviting you to unwind after a day of adventure.

In the middle of the room you can find a dining area suitable to seat six, so the chef’s assistants can gather around the table to discuss the day's events as the home-cooked meal is prepared in the contemporary-styled kitchen, with plenty of work space for little helpers too.

Home to neutral hues, the style of the property continues onto the first floor where the three homely bedrooms sit; choose from a spacious master double, with its own en-suite shower room, a further double and a twin room, all with their own sloping ceilings and skylights to add to the charm of the old chapel.

The property also offers a shared bathroom and a ground-floor shower room, so you can choose how best to prepare for your day, with the added bonus of no shower queues!

Begin your mornings at the breakfast bar with a cup of tea in hand, before heading outside to appreciate the tranquility of the area whilst the rest of the group get ready for your fun-filled day.

With the local area being fairly remote and ideal for walking, an action-packed trip can be found slightly further afield on the Holy Island, holding historical excitement and ferry trips to Ireland, there's plenty to discover within a scenic car journey.

On the other side of the island is Beaumaris, offering medieval tradition and a picturesque seafront, it's well-worth a visit, especially with it being in easy reach of mainland Wales.
