  • "My family had a lovely week staying at Ty Mawr Farm."

The weather was mixed but it didn't stop us enjoying ourselves in a beautiful, peaceful location with a hot tub to relax in while watching the cows grazing in the field. The hosts were absolutely fantastic and were on hand if we needed anything, my grandson who is 3 especially enjoyed watching the herd being milked. The 'Big House' was spacious, well equipped and accommodated all of us perfectly, that is 6 adults, 2 children and a dog. We would certainly recommend this stay to our family and friends as Anglesy is a beautiful place and there is much to see and do, whether it be doing the coastal walks, watching the car racing at the local circuit or visiting Hollyhead for the day. We even managed to go back over the Menai Straits into Snowdonia and climb Snowdon which is all on the doorstep. Great holiday had by all, including the dog!

Thank you for the lovely review! We hope to see you again Property Owner

  • "Tŷ Mawr is spectacular in so many ways."

The size of the house, the comfort of the accommodation, the idyllic location and of course the friendliness of Lois and Alun. It was wonderful to be welcomed personally shortly after we arrived. The kitchen is a dream in which to work and the adjoining open plan living space is great for socialising whilst preparing dinner. The separate living room provides the perfect quiet retreat. The views from the bedrooms over the open fields are wonderful to wake up to. I hadn't even taken the existence of the hot tub into account when I booked and having said I'd probably not use it, it became a part of daily routine. Sitting in the tub in the dark looking up at the stars was magical. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

  • "1.The hot tub was not ready for use until second day ."

During the stay the water became cloudy it should have at least been treated mid week for guests health and safety, so we were unable to use hot tub on last day as it looked cloudy/ lacked chlorine. 2.The freezer required defrosting one drawer was very difficult to use due to ice build up . 3.We would have been happy to put out recycling/ rubbish if we knew what day this was required ? 4. Twin room mid advertised as double bed .

Hello, thank you for the feedback! We apologise that the hot tub wasn’t warm enough the first day, the hot tub can take a while to warm up if we have a changeover the same day. Sorry for the cloudiness, we’ll ensure we’ll check it mid-week going forward. We have since defrosted the freezer after your feedback, thank you. We always empty the bins and recycling at the end of your stay, we don’t expect our guests to do that. I will also get in contact with sykes to change the description of the beds. We hope you had a good time except for these small inconveniences. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "Had a great stay here over New Year with 3 couples, kids and a dog."

Loved the location, no one around, very still and peaceful. Close to Red Wharf and Newborough Forest. The house was fantastic and exceeded my expectations as the pictures do not do it justice, everything was finished to a high standard. Communication with the owners was fantastic and answered questions very quickly and even invited us to view the milking process for the kids at their farm. Best Hot tub I have ever been in, didn't seem to go below 39 degrees! My only criticism is that the description says "1 x double, 1 x twin". It is actually 2 twins not 1 double and 1 twin. I would just like that to be cleared up as it did make for an uncomfortable conversation on who was going in which room. To be fair though the pictures do show 2 twin rooms so just needs some consistency. I would also advise (seek permission first) taking a baby gate if you have toddlers, we had to keep doors closed constantly so made it hard for them to move around the house.

Thank you for your lovely response. Any feedback is welcome! We will make those changes on the listing! I will also look into having a baby gate installed! Kind regards! Property Owner

Perfectly positioned for exploring Anglesey and and North Wales. 4 good sized bedrooms along with large living areas make it ideal and the bonus of the hot tub in the private outdoor area was a real plus. Far enough off the beaten track to make for a very peaceful stay, but only a few miles to shops, pubs and fabulous beaches.

The cottage was so lovely, very stylish and cosy (especially with the wood burning stove). The kitchen was huge and had everything we needed so cooking a full Christmas dinner was no problem. There is a large dining table that seated all of us comfortably. There was a sofa in the dining room so made a nice place to chill away from everyone else. The lounge was comfortable and cosy and the TV had streaming services. The bedrooms were all well sized and the bathrooms were gorgeous. We made lots of use of the hot tub which has views over the hills!! The cottage is very secluded and private but close (10 - 15mins) to the nearest towns / supermarkets. The weather wasn't great but we still visited some lovely beaches and explored the island a bit. We'd love to come back in the summer!!

  • "We had a fabulous week at Ty Mawr."

We were 2 families holidaying together made us of 4 adults and 4 children aged 5-11. The house is extremely comfortable, the beds and bedding are lovely and the fixtures and fittings really high quality. There is a large oven which is helpful when cooking for 8, as were the washer and dryer when we had so many children with us! We had an Asda groceries delivery on our first day which arrived with no problem and having a large fridge and freezer meant that we were well stocked for our visit. The hot tub maintained its temperature well and was an absolute hit with the kids. Lois and Alun provided a welcome pack which was unexpected but delicious! Lois also popped round to say hello which was very lovely. We visited a number of places locally but would really recommend Greenwood county park and Newborough beach. Overall we had a great week, in this large, comfortable and really rather lovely house, thank you!

About the location

LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLL

Menai Bridge 2 miles; Beaumaris 6 miles.

Affectionately known by the locals as Llanfair PG, the Anglesey village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrnd robwllllantysiliogogogoch, also known by its shortened name of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll has the longest place name in Europe. It was artificially named back in 1860 as a publicity stunt for the railway station and translates from Welsh as "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the fierce whirlpool and the church of St Tysilio of the red cave". Situated close to the Menai Straits, just off the Britannia Bridge, Llanfair PG has much to offer families. After having your photo taken next to the village nameplate at the railway station, head into the popular visitors centre for local tourist information. A short walk past the octagonal Toll House, towards Menai Bridge, will bring you to the Marquis of Anglesey statue and column which, for a small fee, you can climb the 115 steps to the top for superb views of the countryside and coastline. Nelson’s Monument can be easily reached on the banks of the Menai Straits, passing St Mary’s Church on the way. With several good pubs with restaurants, craft and gift shops and cafes, plus the beautiful Anglesey coastline within walking distance, there is plenty to entertain you all year round.
