We took a chance on booking this property for a last-minute break, as it is new to Sykes and I wasn't sure about the location. But it turned out to be perfectly placed: right on the Menai Strait with the stunning Snowdonia mountains as a backdrop, and the Isle of Anglesey a mere 10-minute drive away. The owner, Mr Roberts, took the trouble to welcome us on our arrival at the house and show us around. It has three storeys with the lounge and kitchen at the top taking advantage of the Menai Strait and Anglesey views, and three spacious and comfortable bedrooms plus three lovely bathrooms (one en suite) spread over the other two storeys. Snowed in on the first day of our break, we had a superb Sunday roast at the Garddfon Inn - a friendly pub and bistro just a three-minute walk from the property. We also enjoyed crisp and sunny days out during the rest of our stay at the beautiful, historic Plas Newydd country estate on Anglesey, pretty island seaside resort Beaumaris, the Llanberis Lake Railway and - slightly further afield - the 'zoo with a view' (well, several breath-taking views), the Welsh Mountain Zoo near Colwyn Bay. Both property and area highly recommended for a refreshing getaway.
