  • "The only thing that let the cottage down is the shower cleanliness of the shower room in master bedroom also the toilet ."

.there are products on the market that will rid of that also bleach or a toilet cleaner down the loo after each visits will improve .. So I'm given 4 as there is room for improvement but otherwise excellent stay

  • "This is an amazing property, close to Loch Awe."

Lovely welcome gifts from the owners. Has everything you need & there are lovely gardens to wander around. Lovely sunsets over the Loch. Would definitely stay again

  • "Loved the remoteness of this lovely spacious cottage with views of Loch Awe."

Although off the beaten track, it is a great location for exploring the area. Good idea to bring own supplies as shops for more diverse foods or fresh meat and fish etc can only be purchased with a 45 min drive.

  • "A great place to stay, really enjoyed our week."

Enough to keep us entertained as family with kids, aged 4 and 6, in the area. Also, took our paddle boards, so being able to launch straight on to the loch from the property was great, and Loch Awe was so peaceful, particularly in the evenings, so able to take advantage of the light evenings. Property suited our needs. Previous reviewers have commented on the cream carpet throughout, which was a little stressful with small kids, particularly in the kitchen, but this in no way detracted from the enjoyment of the property overall.

Hi just to say we are so glad you enjoyed your week, and thankyou for the positive feedback. We look forward to having you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Location was lovely, walking distance to Loch Awe with access to large, beautiful gardens where the children could run around & play football."

House has good amount of space with very useful porch to take off dirty shoes etc before entering main house. Unfortunately the house was not very clean. Both showers were completely blocked with hair so they filled with water after about 30 seconds. We did not feel inclined to remove excess hair left by other guests. Both bathrooms and the kitchen have white carpet. The carpets were badly stained, ESP round the toilets and near the fridge. This was very disconcerting and difficult to keep clean. One of the showers also leaked so the floor was permanently wet. The kitchen was not well equipped; no dishwasher, no basic coffee making facilities, no dryer (it was almost impossible to get clothes dry), no supplies at all, not even salt and pepper, no tea towels ( we have never come across this before although it was mentioned in the brochure.) Good TV but poor set top box so the picture was blurred. Just a small amount of attention would make this place really super. The living room was spacious and comfortable and the beds were satisfactory. There was room for all of us to eat at the table and the layout worked well. Updating the kitchen and bathrooms would make a huge difference.

Thank you for booking with us, and it was pleasing to see you enjoyed our gardens and facilities. We are somewhat at a loss over the other comments, the proud and meticulous cleaners have never had a complaint, only positive comments. The showers are cleaned and checked every time and again are cleaned to the highest of standards. There has never been a leak reported before. Sorry, you feel the kitchen was not well equipped, it is not advertised with a dishwasher or dryer there is 2x clotheslines outside and an airer. We are not to leave condiments at this difficult time. However, I am sure you enjoyed our welcome gifts of Prosecco, Chocolates, Shortbread, Fresh Milk, and Bottled Water. There were New Tea Towels in the drawers as well as a new Oven Glove TV is perfect and again never had a complaint but as the property is in the Scottish Highlands the satellite signal was maybe a bit weak Property Owner

  • "Loch Awe is truly gorgeous as is the surrounding area."

I think the photo of the house was rather misleading - it looks like it is sitting on its own, but in reality there is another house 3 metres away with a shared driveway (which was awkward as the occupants of other house had 2 cars). Stunning gardens though! Also worth pointing out that the road leading to the house is single track and a little stressful for nervous drivers (and cyclists).

The village of Lochawe lies on the fringes of the spectacular Loch Awe with its wild, dramatic hillside and beautiful scenic landscapes. In addition to the Scottish baronial-style St Conan’s Chapel built in 1883, it has a railway station and steamer pier bordered by picturesque countryside. Discover the marvellous Kilchurn Castle, an ancient ruined structure on a rocky peninsula at the north-eastern end of Loch Awe and one of the most photographed castles in Scotland. To the west of the town lies Cruchan Hydro Power Station hidden deep within the mountain of Ben Cruachan, amongst some of Scotland's most beautiful scenery. Here you can take a guided tour and stop off in the cafe, a great place for a light bite to eat or a refreshing beverage, boasting spectacular views in a light, modern setting. There are many walking and cycling opportunities in the area, if you're feeling adventurous and particularly energetic, why not climb Ben Cruachan? It is a 1126m mountain that is the highest point in Argyll and Bute, offering simply breath-taking views from the top on a clear day. A bit further out, Ben Lui is the nearest mountain (20.4 miles away) at the north-western edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, and if you want to make a trip to The Trossachs on the other side of the park, you'll have a breath-taking drive around the north-eastern edge via Bridge o' Turk and past the tips of Lochs Tay and Earn, and Ben Vorlich.
