  • "Good points: Location for walks and village access v good Tucked away and private lane Kitchen equipment plentiful Abundant tv access in rooms Smart TV in lounge Logs provided for log burner."

Wifi worked well Bad points: Whole place felt cluttered with unnecessary ornaments and fluffy rugs. Felt chaotic. Down stairs bath room smelt of damp and black mold in tiles, not a pleasant place Kitchen, whilst well equipt with many gadgets was left cluttered due to too many gadgets Property is linked / semidetached and noise transfer thru link door from owners many dogs upset our dog late into the night. Parking for two cars in the space given was tight. Farm is not so much a farm more of a kennels. Whole cottage could do with refurb. Felt tired and out dated in decor and furniture. Improvements could make the cottage alot better. Overall, enjoyed the week but bad points were more dominant than good.

Thanks for your feedback . We will take all points into consideration. Warm Regards Adrian and Caroline Property Owner

  • "We spent 3 weeks here in June and enjoyed the holiday."

The House was lovely, clean and comfortable, it supplied everything we needed – the walk in shower was excellent and the kitchen had everything anyone could need. It was truly a home from home. Caroline came to welcome us and offer advice of great places to eat and other than that the owners were not intrusive at all and the duck eggs were great!! If we had one [very] small complaint about the house itself, it was that the living room was a bit over-furnished, as another settee has been added since the photographs on the website which covered the full height window and meant opening that window was difficult due to having to lean over the settee to reach it, which considering the really high temperatures we had the first week was needed! However, our main problem was the enclosed field. We have a very enthusiastic German Shepherd and are conscious that he is not a nuisance to anyone, therefore the main thing we look for when renting a property is an enclosed garden, so the field was the main reason we rented this property. However, the grass was uncut and very high, which meant during the next 2 weeks when we had quite a lot of rain, when we took him out there, we ended up soaked to our knees. Also the steps up to it were uneven and difficult to negotiate as they are set into the back and curved in an arc with a steep soil gap at one side. The bracken on the bank was overhanging at least 2 steps and unavoidable when wet, so we couldn’t really take advantage of that field. A small amount of maintenance, such as cutting the bracken back and mowing a path around the field would have made all the difference. As the outside of the house is a thoroughfare to the farm, so not enclosed and there were free range chickens wandering about, we couldn’t allow him outside at all without supervision. It’s a very small point and shouldn’t put anyone off as people have commented that their dogs enjoyed this field, but they were there when grass would never reach that height. So it did spoil it a little for us – and him. We’re very happy to recommend the house to everyone, just want them to be warned if they go in the height of summer, the field might be a problem.

Hi Eileen Thanks for Leaving a review for Drimnatorran Farm Lodge and rating it highly. In relation to the points on the field it is stated by Skyes that it is an enclosed field not a garden. Obviously with it being a farm sometimes the odd hen goes walk about and wanders out of their enclosed enclosure. We have never had any dissatisfaction at all about the field as everyone who comes usually has good walking gear when walking their pets. Wellies or walking boots are best for the Scottish climate. There is a well trodden path around the field where the grass is well walked on as we walk our dogs occasionally on there and the views of the mountains from the top of the field are beautiful.. So glad you found the lodge comfortable. We have gone the extra mile and put a very comfy sofa in as the lodge which sleeps 6 and the room is well big enough we feel to sustain the extra comfy sofa. We have moved a little coffee table now so opening the window is straight forward and has open access. Property Owner

  • "The cottage and our hosts were outstanding, the area beautiful and the community very friendly."

However 2 weeks before we started our holiday the Corran ferry broke down. This left the only access to the cottage by driving an extra 42 miles with 35 of the miles using single track roads with passing places. Our hosts said that they had notified you. People booking with other agencies were informed of this problem. You did not inform us

Hi Edwin. Thanks for leaving a great review for the lodge. I spoke to Skyes and I think the day they were notified of the ferry cancellation was the day you were travelling up. I know it’s only an extra 40 mins on the journey but it is quite a spectacular drive by the loch. The ferry will be back on very soon. See you again hopefully Kind Regards Adrian & Caroline. The only negative thing was having to strip the beds. We felt bad enough leaving , we could have stayed forever and stripping the beds ourselves sort of took a bit of our holiday time away. Never had to do that before and didn't like it. The dog absolutely loved the field .

Hi Sharon Thanks for leaving a review for Drimnatorran farm. The only reason we ask for you to strip beds is so we know what beds have been slept in being a 3 bedroom house and only having the 3 guests it’s important for the next guests that they have clean and unused bedding. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Kind Regards Mrs Slater. Property Owner

  • "The area is outstanding."

The property is well situated for walks in the area. The peninsula is really worth a visit if you’ve never been before. I could have easily stayed much longer. There is a lovely drive to Loch Shiel, if I’d had time I would have walked to the loch from where that road ends. The view of the area from the top of this road was beautiful. Highlights were the warm welcome, the log burner was lit and the Christmas tree lights were on, candles lit too. After a long drive this was great. Kilcamb Lodge in Strontian. Superb food and location. The Oakwoods. The excellent log burner in the property. The very well equipped kitchen. The bath, with plenty of hot water. Comfortable seating in the lounge, this doesn’t always happen I know. Sanna beach. Singing carols in the Ariundle Centre and Kates freshly made shortbread. The breakfast there is good too. Chatting with Adrian about how they arrived in this part of the world. Experiencing hail, snow, rain and the occasional glimpse of blue sky at Christmas. Last of all, but not least, the peace and quiet at Drimnatorran.

Bed (four poster) was the comfiest I've ever slept in and all rooms were a good size. Plenty of walking straight from the cottage or further afield with lots of wildlife as well. Strontian itself has a small shop and a hotel with a great little bar which did lovely food as did the local cafes. Lastly the owners who were fantastic and went out of their way to help with a flat tyre and supplied us with duck eggs for the week. Will definitely be back in the near future Colin and Donna + Debra.& Mike

  • "The house was great, spacious with a lot of facilities."

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Milk and biscuits left for us but I would have preferred a bottle of water or prior warning that the tap water is from a spring/bore hole and was tea coloured and tasted unpleasant. The location was great - less than an hour to Fort William/Glen Nevis, about an hour to Mull and Glencoe, just over an hour to Sanna beach and Loch Moidart so a really good base for getting to a lot of places. The local area is really nice too, very close to some decent hills and lochs and has a small village shop for essentials. The upstairs bed was incredibly soft so hurt my back but the others were fine. It was grubby in places like it had been cleaned very quickly (inside freezer and oven were dirty but the bathrooms were clean). The oven door didn't close and the function symbols were gone so it was a guess on how to use it! Decent accomodation in a lovely area, in the middle of nowhere but not too isolated.

Hi Debbie In Scotland alot of water in rural properties comes from the hill. We have a quality filtered system that is checked annually by the local council and has passed a water test it does not come from a bore hole. the water is perfectly safe to drink and the taste is absolutely fine It sometimes can be very slightly coloured depending on the amount of rain we have. It’s perfectly safe to drink and depending on personal taste is quite tasteful. The main oven is in the process of an upgrade however there is also a new slow cooker and air fryer for guests which is an added extra. Sorry to hear you found the bed soft The feedback we have had from many other customers is how comfy it is. Property Owner
