The village of Kinloch Rannoch, which sits at the opposite end of the loch,has a general store, a hotel and is a popular outdoor pursuits centre.

Bridge of Gaur in Highland, Perthshire is a small hamlet situated at the far Western end of Loch Rannoch. Loch Rannoch, as well as nearby Loch Tummel and Glen Lyon are all designated National Scenic Areas, in recognition of their outstanding scenery. This area is a paradise for outdoor adventure with walking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, bird watching, road cycling and mountain biking all available. Local visitor attractions include the stunning Blair Castle in Blair Atholl, Dewar’s World of Whisky in Aberfeldy, and the World-famous Fortingall Yew, an important, ancient yew tree estimated to be between three and nine thousand years old. Rannoch Station, just six miles away on Rannoch Moor, is one of the most remote train stations in Britain, situated on the spectacular West Highland Line, which runs from Glasgow to Fort William and Mallaig. In 2009, Wanderlust magazine voted the line as the World’s most scenic train journey. The line is also famous for its portrayal in the Harry Potter films as the backdrop to the Hogwarts Express. The Jacobite steam train runs Between May and October. The village of Kinloch Rannoch, just eleven miles away, lies at the East end of Loch Rannoch, and facilities include a shop, Post Office, café and medical centre, whilst Aberfeldy has a wide range of facilities including the 1930’s Birks Cinema, with its restaurant and bar. Pitlochry is a tourist centre, which can be reached with an hour's drive, providing a wide range of shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as the famous Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
