  • "We found Mary’s cottage perfect!"

Very welcoming, clean and homely. The garden was perfect for the dogs and they are truly depressed about being home! Caroline is a wonderful host and very helpful. The extra touches she provided made us feel very welcome. Scotland is a beautiful place and to wake up each morning with that view was exceptional. We would recommend anyone going to that area to choose Mary’s cottage. Mick Sue and border collies Arthur and Stan.

  • "A fabulous week in this beautiful cottage with outstanding views over Loch Linnhe towards Fort William."

Marys cottage had everything we needed and the special touches left for us made it even better such as Whisky, biscuits and treats for our fur babies. The surrounding area is just stunning, the local pub does great food and the local brewery 5 mins walk away serves great Ales, wine and on Fridays the best pizzas I’ve had.

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds, super hot shower, nice little extra touches (jar of dog treats, locally made soaps and whisky) and a stunning view. The cottage owner is on hand if you need anything. We occasionally saw a seal bobbing around in the loch outside the window which was a nice bonus. Highly recommended.

  • "We booked to stay at Marys Cottage for a week at the start of December."

The cottage is perfect and there are so many little home touches that make such a difference. The kitchen is so well equipped, the luxury bath bubbles, soaps and hand creams are lovely and the bed is so comfortable with the softest sheets. I’d also like to note that unlike most cottages you stay in, the loo roll was the same quality I’d buy at home which sounds silly, but really makes a difference when you’re staying for a week. The location is idyllic and we never got bored of waking up and looking out on the loch, in fact we made the most of the daylight and sat at the table until it was dark most days. We highly recommend going to visit the Argdour Ales Brewery (come out of the cottage and turn left, walking a little way up the road and it’s on your left) for a beer and ordering a pizza on Friday night - delicious. We learned all about ‘Mary’ of Marys Cottage from the locals too which was lovely. Caroline is so helpful (she messaged to say the ferry had stopped running due to the storm one day during our stay) and very kind leaving us some Scottish treats and a wee dram to enjoy. We really can’t wait to visit again as it really is the most beautiful, calm and peaceful place to visit - Thank you Caroline for a truly memorable stay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your lovely feedback. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay in this beautiful area and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

The cottage has everything you need, plus a few extra treats from the owner which made us feel very welcome. It is in a great spot for exploring the peninsulas, and it was great to return to the cosy wood burner and endless supplies of hot water. Take plenty of food as the cottage benefits from a freezer, but leave room for pizza from Ardgour ales on a Friday! One of the best cottages we have stayed in.

  • "Wow! What a view!"

This beautiful cottage is spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. The location is idyllic and quiet but still has easy access to local facilities due to the nearby ferry which runs all day and the crossing only takes 3 minutes. You can also travel to locations without using the ferry via the roads on the left hand side of the loch if wished such as Glenfinnan and Mull (via the Lochaline ferry to Fishnish). We also enjoyed visits to Glencoe, Fort William and Fort Augustus all of which are accessible for the day before returning to the tranquility of Mary’s Cottage.

The cottage is superb with wonderful views looking up the Loch towards Fort William from the front of this gorgeous 2 bedroom bungalow. Everything about the cottage exceeded everyone’s expectations and after spending 7 beautiful sunny days in this marvellous cottage, visiting the area in the West of Scotland made our holiday a wonderful success. During these 7 days, we went on a Loch Ness Cruise at Fort Augustus, on a Gondola up a Aonach Mor Mountain next to Ben Nevis, in Eilean Donan Castle near the bridge to Isle of Skye and at a lovely town with brilliantly coloured house’s in Tobermory on Isle of Mull. Kind regards to Caroline who keeps the bungalow in a fantastic condition to ensure everyone has a sensational time in and around Ardgour in the Highland’s of Scotland. Susan, Emily, Amber and Allan

  • "Location is amazing!"

To catch a ferry over the loch to get to the cottage makes it feel really isolated and almost no other people there, but 5 doors down is a friendly pub. The cottage is really well equipped, we spent a week there and cooked every night. Every possible utensil, loads of pans, great knives and the kettle and toaster are way above the usual basic brands. The open plan living room / kitchen has a really nice feel, great for board games, cooking and watching the birds all at the same time. The fire is really nice on a cold and windy day and easy to light. Beds are comfy and there is even a garden out back. Feels like a real home, rather than just a place to stay. I'd highly recommend for a peaceful getaway. Just remember to get lots of shopping in before you get the ferry over and then you don't have to go back.

It had absolutely everything you would need for cooking and living. We loved the log fire and the monopoly set has been much used! The garden was fabulous for the dog, and worked very well for us. The only issue we had was the noise from the hot water/heating. It gurgles in the pipes really loudly throughout, but especially in the walk of the main bedroom. It would wake me early. Very peaceful. Could not fault the cottage The only drawback was cost of ferry each day. 8.20 per crossing. That is £114.80 extra for the week.Extortionate prices bearing in mind there is only one inn to eat at. The menu was limited and prices far too high for the food that was on the menu. £25 for steak and chips. I would expect to pay that for a la restaurant. Not enough choice. The alternative was to drive 30 miles along really narrow lanes which was quite scary. The locals drive way too fast exceeding the speed limits. Especially the trucks. The cost may put people off from booking at this lovely location.

The views are spectacular. Worth noting that it requires a ferry crossing which adds £16.40 each day if crossing over the water to Oban, Glen Coe Loch Ness and Fort William. Having said that there is plenty to do without crossing and great access to Mull.

We loved the open plan layout of the lounge and kitchen and the light and airy feel of the space. We enjoyed the lovely fudge that Caroline had left for our arrival and Suki our springer spaniel loved the dog treats! There was a warm welcome and good food from the Inn at Ardgour only a very short walk from the cottage - where again Suki was very well cared for with water and dog treats.
