Kames Castle Cottages
Kames is a small, private estate nestled beside the beautiful coastal location of Kames Bay, Port Bannatyne. Surrounded by fields and with far reaching views of Scottish countryside, the cottages provide the perfect setting for families and friends to relax in the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings.
Kames Estate has a long and interesting history and all of the cottages at Kames are listed by Historic Scotland. In years gone by the cottages have seen various uses, such as hunting lodges for the Marquess of Bute and accommodation for the many gardeners who looked after the walled garden.
Seven self-catering cottages are available for holiday lets and accommodate between 2 and 9 guests. Each provides comfortable, modern accommodation with all necessary amenities. The cottages benefit from washing machine, microwave, hairdryer, television, DVD player and log burner. A dishwasher is available in all but the smallest cottage (The Gate Lodge). Travel cots and high chairs are available on request. From 2019 all cottages will be supplied with free Wi-Fi.
The properties are situated in approximately 20 acres of grounds and proved superb, secluded accommodation. Large lawned lead to a woodland and an 18th century walled and glasshouse. At the centre of the estate is the impressive 14th Century Keep. The grounds contain a variety of games and facilities including an all-weather tennis court, small putting green, croquet and football goals – all at no extra charge. Kames is fortunate to attract abundant wildlife. Roe deer, owls, buzzards and pheasants are frequent visitors to name but a few.
The property
Blane cottage is situated at the centre of Kames Estate in a small courtyard area close to the impressive 14th Century Keep.
Blane is adjacent to an extensive lawned area and a woodland boasting many mature trees and a walkway throughout.
Pets are welcome in Blane and its proximity to this woodland area means it is ideal for dog owners.
The cottage sleeps five guests in one double bedroom and one triple bedroom (the latter comprising one single bed and one bunkbed).
All accommodation is on the ground level, including the bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle.
The cottage boasts modern and comfortable accommodation and benefits from hairdryer, washing machine, microwave, dishwasher, DVD player and free Wi-Fi.
A log burner is located in the living room.
A high chair and travel cot are available on request.

Move to the comfortable lounge, complete with games, books and a log burner – a perfect cosy room to relay after a busy day.
The bathroom has been newly renovated.

The next seaside town along is Rothesay, with many shops, cafés and restaurants, along with walking opportunities and open top bus tours.
