  • "This was our 3rd stay at Gallanach and our travelling friends were on visit number 5."

No surprises, just the usual Gallanach Magic. There is something about the castle and the 1400 acres of the estate that relaxes the mind and soul. We wandered down to the beach , got the ferry to Kerrera and walked to Gylan Castle. Unbelievable but we had 6 gloriously sunny days, obviously cold sunny days but just wonderful. We visited The Oban Inn x 2 , Mackie Dans x 2,and Coasters and The Taj Mahal once each and were never disappointed . For coffees and fresh pastries etc you will find Roxy's cafe to be excellent. Finally , a word about our hosts at Gallanach, Charlie and Lise. They are always so very welcoming ,and nothing is too much trouble and that is why we will be back as soon as we can.

  • "Fabulous place, great hosts and always at hand if needed."

This is a real home from home, the kitchen is fully loaded and added bonus of tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper. Some fresh milk in the fridge for a cuppa was a nice touch after a long journey. The views are stunning looking down to the shore and a nice walk down to see the otters. We were allowed to walk our dog in the grounds, but being respectful of the sheep. Would highly recommend staying here for a relaxing week away. Oban is only a ten minute drive away with lovely bars and restaurants.

The garden wing of the castle was spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. I am already missing breakfast in the garden watching deer wander past and buzzards flying overhead. The estate's cows and sheep are extremely friendly. The kids loved being greeted by Lashman (nicknamed G sheep) every day when we left the house. The grounds are extensive and we loved exploring the woodlands and beaches. We spent a lot of time on the estate as the kids loved having their own beach to explore. An afternoon dip in crystal clear water, crab fishing, spotting seals and Sea otters and watching the sun go down from the beach were holiday highlights. The castle is close to Oban and its many amenities, resturants and ferry terminal. Charles and Lise were great hosts and we would certainly return to Gallanach castle in the future.

! We loved staying at the Gallananch Castle. There was a great garden for us to bbq. We had a nice time preparing breakfast and dinners. It's close to Oban with multiple shops to buy groceries. ( Tesco, Aldi, M&S) Also, the best thing about this property were the morning Atlantic Water cool dips and evening bon fires. The nature walks and views were outstanding. We were a big group and enjoyed every moment of our holiday. Shout out to Lashman our favourite sheep. Highly recommend booking this castle! We will try to come back soon :)

I would have been disappointed if the interior had been modernised to a contemporary style. The open fire was lovely. The grounds are extensive. Lots of walking right from your door. Buzzards, deer, and of course the castle's sheep, and 3 friendly cows. Our dogs had a wonderful time, need to keep on lead around the livestock. The castle is a great base for adventuring out.
