  • "The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay."

It was warm and welcoming, with decor finished to a high standard. We especially appreciated the welcome pack. The cottage also benefits from Off road parking. One very minor drawback is the bathroom with its very small sink, but for a short stay it’s manageable. The cottage was well placed for lots of visitor attractions, walks and climbs in the area, and Drymen is well serviced with good places to eat and drink, and self catering amenities.

It was warm, comfortable, clean, with modern kitchen/bathroom facilities. The hosts provide some really useful local info and have a lovely kids corner bookshelf that my daughter was thrilled with. Great place to stay.

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location We really enjoyed our stay here, great little village with good Cafes and the food in the local pub is very good, also used the swimming pool in hotel next door."

Easy to get to Loch Lomond, Stirling and Glasgow, there are also lots of walks close to the cottage. The only issue we had with the cottage was the lighting in the kitchen making difficult to cook after dark. Otherwise we had a great holiday and would use the cottage again.

The sofas seem to be a bit soft as when you sit in the middle they sink down other wise a really lovely stay.

  • "Lovely little house."

Lovely location, great views, nicely decorated. Bed was very comfy. Sofas not very comfy - especially for two adults sitting on one. Great for one couple. Shame there isn’t a wardrobe - or at least a hanging rail, in the upstairs bedroom. There is a small wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom but for two couples ( luckily we were just one couple) another hanging space would be necessary.

Very comfortable beds, a good shower room with a well equipped kitchen. Ideal for the four of us and we hope to book again in the future. Love the village with its pubs and shops nearby. Had a couple of meals at the Clachan which were excellent. The Spar shop has to be the best one in the country, lovely staff and a great selection.

  • "One of the best cottages we’ve stayed in."

Beds were supremely comfortable. Interior was a very tasteful blend of modern and traditional. Nice welcome pack, which was very much enjoyed. Sadly we couldn’t get our Tesla Model 3 down the driveway. It bottomed out at the top of the steep drop down the driveway. You’ll be fine with a Seat Leon, but we parked in the adjacent hotel car park and it was close enough to run an extension cable to charge it up. We left electricity money for car charging, The fridge has a freezer compartment, but it wasn’t large enough for all our items. However the host was very happy to put our surplus food into their freezer. One area of improvement required. There was only one toilet roll provided, with no spare in any cupboard. I always bring a spare roll, but we ran out of that as well 3 hours before departure leading to a toilet roll emergency. This seems to be trend among cottages sadly and I’ve never understood why.

Clean and comfortable and a good welcoming basket. Very near to Drymen - walking distance. A smashing, attractive little Scottish town. Many good places to eat including the "award winning" pub The Clachan Inn - brilliant meals. Make sure you book. As well as Loch Lomond, Helensburgh is near to visit (a lochside town - with a big "sea" front). Very attractive to drive up that coast and Glasgow very near too

The cottage was very light, airy, relaxing and very clean. It is ideally located in Drymen for pubs, restaurants and walks straight from the doorstep and those visiting should take advantage of the walk to Balmaha over Conic Hill, views are stunning and driving a little way to climb Ben Lomond which provided the most fabulous views. We visited Stirling and Glasgow both within 20 miles of Drymen and are well worth the trip.(we used the local bus to Balloch then train direct into Glasgow all ran to time and it was good to leave the car behind so we could enjoy a little tipple) All in all we had a great holiday made a little more special by Naomi's welcome pack.

  • "The cottage is in a great location."

There are great pubs and restaurants in the village. Great place to explore Loch Lomond. We were met with a welcome pack from the owner which was lovely. Initial impressions were that cottage was clean, the bedding looked fresh and the cottage is well decorated. We didn’t find the sofas at all comfortable but that may just be us. The beds were very comfortable. However the washing up bowl had food debris in, the oven was dirty with greasy grill pans left inside. The soap drawer of the washing machine wasn’t clean. In the shower room there was mould on the sealant in the shower and on the shower screen. The rug in the lounge was very grubby. The drawers in the downstairs bedroom had hair and dust in. During our stay I dropped something down the side of the bed in the downstairs bedroom, the dust and hair there was unacceptable. Before leaving we were asked to strip the beds, we found only one bed had a mattress protector and there were no pillow protectors. Four out of the eight pillows were stained as we’re both duvets, one with what appeared to be blood. This really is unacceptable at any time, but in the current situation with COVID it seems worse. I didn’t speak to the owner at the time as I didn’t want people coming into the cottage while we were staying there so in they’re defence they weren’t given opportunity to put things right. The reality is though this should never have happened. We’ve stayed in Sykes cottages many times but have never experienced this before. Really disappointed.

Dear Mrs Sweet, Thank you for highlighting your disappointment to us. I am so sorry the cleanliness of the cottage was not up to standard. The comfort and safety of our guests is our upmost concern. I can assure you that the duvets and pillows are cleaned and checked regularly but I apologise if we have missed noticing a stain. We will replace these immediately. We have taken this weekend for maintenance so we can deep clean the cottage and ensure this will not happen again. I have informed my cleaning team of the issues and have asked them to be extra vigilant, taking more time to check all corners and crevices are thoroughly cleaned in future. It is a shame that you did not inform me of this while you were here as we spoke on a couple of occasions and I could have offered a solution at the time. I’m sorry that you were disappointed by the cottage, it has been a busy season and we have not had access to the cottage for deep cleaning until now. This is something that we will keep in mind for future years to ensure the property meets our high standards. Many apologies once again. Kind regards Property Owner

About the location

DRYMEN

Loch Lomond 4 miles, Aberfoyle 10 miles, Stirling 21 miles

The village of Drymen, nestling within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, was popular with Highland Cattle drovers in the 18th and 19th centuries due to its location and legend has it that Rob Roy MacGregor used Drymen as a base for his exploits against the Duke of Montrose. Today the village is popular with tourists who enjoy not only its attractive village green and selection of pubs, shops and restaurants, but also its location allowing access to Loch Lomond. The West Highland Way and the Rob Roy Way both pass through the village and nearby Conic Hill and mighty Ben Lomond and perennial favourites with walkers. Drymen is the ideal base for exploring most of central Scotland with both Stirling and Glasgow in easy reach.
