  • "The cabin is such a beautiful little find , right on top of the falls of dochart , such a lovely big well maintained garden for the dogs to wander safely ."

Mike and Jan were lovely hosts . We had a lovely stay and look forward to returning one day soon .

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you (and the dogs of course) in the future. Property Owner

  • "Had a nice relaxing stay at this cabin."

pleasant surroundings and having decent weather helped. Hosts were accommodating and friendly. only drawback was lack of a washing machine. all else was okay/

We're glad that you had a relaxing stay. Unfortunately the gallery kitchen in the cabin just isn't large enough to accommodate a washing machine. We did have some correspondence about this prior to your stay and thought that we had reached a solution. Property Owner

  • "We had a truly fantastic week at Millmore cabin."

The view from the living room patio window to the river is just lovely and there is plenty of nature in the garden to enjoy. The cabin has everything you need for your stay with lots of recommendations for things to do in the local area. Mike and Jan were very welcoming and happy to help with anything but respected privacy at the same time. The local area is beautiful with lots of wonderful walks and bike rides on the doorstep. We have no hesitation in recommending Millmore cabin and we will consider a stay again in the future. Thanks again for a wonderful week.

  • "Millmore cabin was just perfect!"

I was welcomed by Mike and Jan, who were really lovely hosts, available if needed, but gave complete privacy. The cabin was really comfortable and cosy in February, and had everything I needed for a self catering stay. There's no WiFi but I always had a phone signal (3 network) for streaming music, sending messages etc. The garden grounds are beautiful, with the river running along the bottom of the garden. You even have a great view of the river from the living room, which is very relaxing. Killin and the surrounding villages are great to explore, and Mike and Jan have prepared a really comprehensive list of lots things to see and do in the area. A wonderful relaxing trip, I would certainly recommend Millmore cabin.

Thank you very much Amber. We're so pleased that you enjoyed Millmore cabin. And thank you for leaving the cabin absolutely spotless, it was much appreciated! Hopefully we'll see you again....Mike & Jan Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic long weekend stay at the cabin."

Mike and Jan were very welcoming and helping on arrival but left us to our own devices for the rest of our stay - perfect hospitality! Although the weather was rubbish, the cabin was very cosy and we loved sitting in the living room with the fire on, dog happy and the sound of the falls. Would highly recommend!

Thank you. Jan & I are pleased that you enjoyed the cabin. Work is now underway to put in new electric radiators so that the heating will be a lot more controllable. Property Owner

  • "A lovely, cosy and warm log cabin with a well equipped galley kitchen."

The garden was in a beautiful spot with a wonderful view of the falls. You can expect a warm welcome, highly recommended.

Thank you for your kind comments. The garden has suffered a little bit thanks to the storms, although this has not detracted from the view of the falls. Property Owner

  • "This was in an idyllic setting on the Falls of Dochart."

The owners of the cabin were very friendly and went out of their way to help us. Although the cabin is quite old fashioned this only added to its charm. Fantastic for dog walks and we were able to spend days without getting in the car. Anyone looking for peace and quiet (apart from the roar of water over the falls) this is an ideal spot.

Thank you for this. Jan & I are so pleased that you enjoyed our cabin. Property Owner

  • "Here are people wanting to switch off, there are people wanting to have home from home, there are people looking to feel happy and comfortable at the centre of things yet away from bustle."

There are people who dream and hope this new destination for them is exactly for them. There are watchers, waiters, wanderers and wonderers. This place, this space in Killin ticks boxes all the way from sunrise to nod-off time. Its a place that's so good you just wonder why you aren't living there all the time .. and so then why travel to have a holiday! I could live there and be happy just watching the water tumbling over those rocks!

  • "I can honestly say that the people themselves were lovely , but for a family to go there for the amount they were charging was ridiculous."

The cleanliness itself was very poor. I brought my own coffee as I’m very picky , well thank the lord I did , as there wasn’t enough as a bottle off water in the cabin to greet us. My husband had to clean everything in the cabin before use. I wanted to say something at the time but my husband asked me not to as he was craving for this holiday as like us all we need it in these terrible times we are living in. I can honestly say tho for where it was situated felt like heaven. I actually saw a red squirrel

We are sorry that Mr & Mrs Cullen were not happy and felt the need to score us so low. This is our first season with Sykes Cottages. The price charging has been determined by the Sykes Cottages pricing team. They are the experts in this field and they are, after all, managing the holiday let on our behalf. On the point of not having provided coffee or even being a bottle of water in the fridge, this is because we are not permitted to provide anything like this under the Covid restrictions. Equally, we had to remove all cushions, books (except for the property handbook), DVDs, toys etc. Rest assured, once the restrictions are eased, we intend to provide a welcome pack for all guests. On the point of cleanliness, we use a firm of cleaners. You will note from other reviews that cleanliness has not been an issue in the past. Mrs Cullen's comments have been passed on to the cleaning firm. We understand that it has been a very difficult seventeen months and we want our guests to enjoy the peace and quiet, the wildlife and the view of the Falls of Dochart that Millmore Cabin provides. This is why we ask all our guests to let us know if there is anything that they need when they arrive. An issue with the cleanliness would have been straightforward to deal with at the time, as would explaining about the lack of coffee and bottled water.' Property Owner

The property

Situated in the village of Killin, Millmore Cabin is a delightful single storey lodge surrounded by picturesque countryside, overlooking the magnificent Falls of Dochart.

Entry to the property is via a porchway, which offers hanging space for coats and storage for shoes and boots.

From here, head into the cosy living room, which offers one sofa and two armchairs to relax in.

There is a woodburning stove that will fill the room with heat on the chillier evenings.

A sliding door opens onto the patio and adjoining decking giving spectacular views of the River Dochart that flows by at the edge of the lawn.

From here you can enjoy sitting on the patio or decking with a glass of wine and spot the local wildlife, including red squirrel, heron, otter, pine marten, woodpecker as well as some of the local ducks.

The wood panelled walls of the dining room and galley kitchen give the space an authentic feel, and the dining table is a great place to gather together to enjoy a home-cooked meal together.

The property is well placed in the centre of the village, with a host of amenities, restaurants, pubs and cafés just a short walk away, as well as notable attractions like the magnificent waterfall of the Falls Of Dochart, Clan McNabb Burial Grounds and the Dochart Viaduct.

Walkers will enjoy hiking Ben Lawyers, the highest of the surrounding Bens, which offers stunning views of the nearby mountains and lochs, while watersport enthusiasts can take part in kayaking, canoeing and fishing on Loch Tay, and cyclists can access National Cycle Route 7 from the opposite bank of the River Dochart.

Millmore Cabin is a fantastic base to return to after a day of exploration and adventure.

About the location

Aberfeldy 22 miles; Pitlochry 36 miles; Perth 44 miles.

The village of Killin, on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, in the area of Breadalbane, sits across the stunning Falls of Dochart and has been settled since ancient times. Cup markings on rocks and stone circles tell of an ancient race that inhabited this area. Christianity came to Breadalbane in the 8th century with St Fillan with the Mill bearing his name and St Fillan’s Day held on the 3rd Tuesday in January. The village is strongly associated with two renowned clans, Clan Campbell and Clan MacNab. Finlarig Castle, to the north of the village, was the Campbell stronghold and the MacNabs have their ancient burial ground of Inchbuie near the bridge over the falls. Killin today is a popular tourist destination, due in no small part to the use of the falls in various films and television programmes. The village today has a varied selection of shops, bars and restaurants and watersports are available on nearby Loch Tay. Ideal for walking, Killin has Ben Lawers, the highest of the surrounding Bens, to the north and Ben More and Stobinian to the west.
