  • "Great location!"

BUT... There is no double room with en-suite! We had to vacuum when we got there. The bins were full of previous people’s rubbish. Drawer hanging off in front double bedroom and bedside lights not working. No storage in downstairs twin and noisy boiler in there. Plugs in downstairs twin non accessable. We had to buy roasting tin and pasta dish to cook with. Shower downstairs is like a bath (doesn’t drain), downstairs bath was filthy. No basics like salt, pepper, oil. A pint of milk and some bread might have been nice as we arrived late. Fridge too small for up to eight occupants. Pampas grass seeds get everywhere. Welcome/house instructions poor. No visitor information. No scissors, crockery lacking. Bowls are rubbish.

  • "Listing not 100% accurate."

There is no double bedroom with ensuite on the ground floor. There is a small twin room without cupboard storage and a family bathroom. The 1st floor has 2 doubles and a twin and a shower room. Luckily this didn't cause us any problems but it could for some. House had everything we needed, comfy beds, fluffy towels and plenty tea, coffee and biscuits which were a nice surprise.

  • "We felt the house fitted our needs, being a 3-generation family bubble of 6 plus puppy."

The house was clean overall and in a quiet neighbourhood. The kitchen was pretty well stocked, and we were pleasantly surprised to see items such as tea and coffee supplies, and dishwasher tablets. However, we felt it was missing a few items: whisk, really sharp knife (we had great difficulty slicing crusty bread), garlic press, and cafetiere or other type coffee maker. The topper on the master bed was quite soft and not to our liking but we adjusted to it. The garden was basic, and the gaps under the fence meant we could not leave our puppy unattended. However, there was so much to do in and around the area that we didn't use the garden much. There are lovely parks, restaurants, ice cream parlours and shops in Helensburgh, and Glasgow is not far. If you are keen on architecture, there's the famous Hill House and the St. Peter's Seminary near Cardross. From a parents' point of view, there is a really good play park close by the house and a swimming pool down at the waterfront. It's also close to Loch Lomond, with plenty of watersports.

  • "The upstairs toilet failed to remove waste."

3 visits by "plumbers" because the toilet kept blocking. Each time it was used, it failed to remove waste again. Absolutely no acknowledgement that this was an issue by either Sykes or the householder. Added to that, the house was not clean. Don't be fooled by the photos. Don't stay here.
