“We had a lovely stay at The Croft Apartment, it was warm and comfortable and the location wonderful being so close to the sea and a safer swimming beach.”
Our hostess was there if we needed her but not intrusive in anyway, she even picked us up from the Tobermory ferry when it was pouring with rain and she knew we were walking back! It is a unusual arrangement having to go though the front door of the main house using a shared hall way to access the stairs to the apartment but don't be put off, it means no keys required and with such a great hostess it really isn't a problem. Would recommend!

“The apartment is cosy, spotlessly clean, with a wonderful view.”
The owner, Mrs MacPhail, is charming and helpful, but not intrusive in any way. We had a wonderful week here and would happily return.- Mr Rowland, September 2019
“This is a very place to stay and it is in a fantastic location; it's remote, yet within walking distance of the shop, pub and the ferry to Mull.”
There is also a community centre, which had a produce sale going on, and you can get eggs locally too. We found everyone we met to be very friendly. Patricia gave us very good directions and information prior to our stay and was very welcoming in a nice understated and non-intrusive way. It was good to know she was around, and she was very kind and solicitous when I tripped and broke my arm while out walking on the first day! She took us to a friend who was able to give me some medical advice and make arrangements to pave the way to get the right treatment in Fort William A&E. We would definitely recommend staying at the Croft Apartment in Kilchoan.- Ms Church, April 2019
“Great stay at Croft apartment despite a week of mostly wet weather.”
Host lovely, and cottage warm and comfy. Everything we needed was to hand. Scenery around Kilchoan and the area is beautiful and there is ferry near by to Mull.- Mrs Sheppard, September 2018
“A warm welcome after driving 42 miles on single track roads.”
The hostrich had emailed a few days before our trip to explain where to find the key and to buy provisions as the village shop closed at 5.30 and was not open again until Monday or we could eat out and gave us the contact. The apartment was neat and tidy just what we needed and a very to die for. The host was around at times to offer us local information but left us to get on with the holiday. A good selection of books to read and plenty of kitchen equipment if you felt like coking. We ate out at the local hotel and one evening had a takeaway from Sanna Spice not to be missed. An enjoyable holiday to suit our pocket and our needs. We would recommend visit- Mrs Spowart, August 2018
“This is the second time that we've stayed at the Croft Apartment and will, undoubtedly do so again in the future.”
Pat is an excellent host who makes sure that the stay is a 'home from home' experience. The views from the apartment are stunning, as is the whole of the surrounding area. We were also able to take part in the events that were put on by the local community in Kilchoen. We, as visitors, were made to feel very welcome. We look forward to returning to the Croft Apartment in the coming years.- Mr Dunn, July 2018
“Superb accommodation with unforgettable views over the Sound of Mull!”
Pat is the perfect host too - a lovely lady!- Mr Hall, July 2018
“The apartment was 'tired' and old fashioned, the cleanliness was ' adequate' but could be improved up on.”
How ever the lay out if the apartment was fine with plenty of space for the two of us. Mrs Phail was friendly and always on hand to offer any help if needed. The position of the apartment was brilliant with stunning views across the Sound of Mull.- Mrs Bailey, June 2018
“Beautiful surroundings, a very kind and helpfull landlady.”- Ms Bouchier-dijs, June 2018
“The apartment was in a great location an ideal spot for exploring the remote Ardnamurchan peninsula.”
It was within easy walking distance from the shop and pub that serves meals to eat in or take away. Croft apartment is clean comfy, and well furnished with great views across the shoreline and down The Sound Of Mull. Pat the owner is very nice and helpful but leaves to your own devices unless needed. Should we go back to this beautiful part of the world we would have no hesitation in booking the apartment again.- Mr Bennett, October 2017
“The only reason we wouldn't re-book is because we like to go to different places.”- Mrs Gossage, June 2017
“The owner who lives on the ground floor was extremely welcoming and helpful without being at all intrusive.”
The position of the cottage is stunning, but the journey to get there is very long and the last 40 miles on single track road. Worth the journey though! There is a village shop but stocks are limited so best to take what food you want We had stunning weather but it could be less attractive in bad weather, and not much to do if you can't get out walking..- Mrs Stride, October 2016
“Lovely clean and homely accommodation.”
Pat the owner was very friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed. Made us very welcome and gave my husband and I an insight to the local area and what it's like to live in this beautiful area.- Mrs Biggadike, September 2016
“We had a superb week staying at the Croft Apartment.”
We had a wonderful welcome from the owner and she was very kind and helpful throughout. Within a minute of arrival we were watching 2 sea eagles flying over the bay from the lounge window, and the rest of the week continued in a similar manner with abundant wildlife - dolphins, golden eagles, otters etc - in the stunning local countryside. The apartment is very clean and comfortable, and well equipped - perfect for our needs. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were more than adequate.- Mr Bowles, May 2016
“The apartment is clean and comfortable and the small kitchen area is very well equipped.”- Mrs Wong, August 2015
“A well equipped, very comfortable apartment and the owner was very helpful.”- Mrs Deans, July 2015
“The views from this cottage are fantastic.”
The owner was very helpful on the odd discussion about the area and her knowledge of Kilchoan was invaluable. Owner was friendly but never intrusive. I would highly recommend this apartment.- Mr Tierney, October 2014
“The owner is a wonderful host and has a very nice property.”
The accommodation is on the top floor which affords you a wonderful view of the water and the hills. Absolutely fantastic to watch the cruise ships and other boats coming and going. All you need is provided, from the kitchen to linens to closet space. I would definitely go back for another stay!- Mrs Klezok, August 2014
“Ardnamurchan was a stunning place to visit.”
We saw lots of wildlife and enjoyed the peace & quiet. The hostess was lovely and welcoming.- Mr Milnes, June 2014

About the location
Tobermory 7 miles (via ferry).
The pretty village of Kilchoan is the most westerly village in mainland Britain, situated on the stunning Ardnamurchan Peninsula and surrounded by magnificent mountains and breathtaking coastal views. The area close to Kilchoan offers a choice of quiet sandy beaches and an abundance of wildlife with eagles regularly spotted overhead. Until 1900 the village was only accessible by sea, but now access is via a single track road that leads through some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland. The village has good local services including a shop, pub, restaurant and community centre. From Mingary Pier there is a regular ferry service across the Sound of Mull to Tobermory which gives the opportunity to explore the islands of Mull and Iona. There are wildlife excursions on land and sea and the new Ardnamurchan Distillery and Natural History Centre are added attractions. A short drive away is Ardnamurchan Point complete with its own lighthouse and visitor centre which is well worth a visit, or perhaps you simply want to sit on the glorious Sanna Beach and enjoy the views across the clear blue sea to the islands of Muck, Eigg and Rum?
