  • "Tirlaggan Studio was a lovely place to stay."

Not only for the clean and comfortable accommodation but also it’s role in creating cultural time capsules of the island. The studio is a real recording studio although you’d barely notice it. Everything is out of the way for us ordinary ‘self caterers’

Thank you for your kind comments and I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Tirlaggan Studio. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic place especially if you’re looking for peace and quiet."

If you were unlucky you might have half a dozen vehicles passing during the day. The studio is just about right for 2 people. We could open the blinds and look across to the beautiful landscape of the surrounding mountains. Great for walking and cycling. If you used your car you’d be lucky to get into 4th gear along the narrow winding roads. The place is steeped in history and although there’s only one place to eat out the heritage centre has a fantastic cook and is worthy of visiting for great food. The ferry from Oban is easily accessed and you can travel to the north of the island and take the passenger ferry to port Appin with regular crossings.

Thanks for your feedback and I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Tirlaggan Studio and the Isle of Lismore. Property Owner

  • "The studio is very clean and tidy but full of owner’s belongings."

It’s listed as a studio, so I expected a open planned space but in fact it’s a fully kitted out recording studio with a lot of the space taken up by the sound proof recording booth, piano and sound equipment. There are cameras!! Which over look ALL areas of the studio!! Spoke to owner about this straight away and apparently they are fake but are you really going to install fake cameras when you have 40k worth of equipment sitting around! There are 3 wardrobes, 2 or which a full of owners clothes, because of this myself and my husband had very little space for our belonging for the week we stayed there. The angle of the studio could have been thought out better in relation to the other lodge on the site as they can see a right into the studio if blinds are open. In summary I would say this COULD be a fantastic place for holiday but owner really needs to decide if they are renting it out for public use and remove all belongings or at least have all there belongs stored away in a lockable cupboard. REMOVE CAMERAS! if your that worried about things going missing then don’t have them there in the first place or again under lock and key! When if first arrived at the studios my first instinct was to get back on the ferry and go somewhere else but this holiday was a present from my parents, due to this we stayed nothing else! In a lot of way I feel I was done! But at the same time you learn from these things READ ALL DESCRIPTIONS TWICE BEFORE BOOKING FOR NEXT HOLIDAY!

As this is our first year letting the studio, we welcome comments and suggestion and where possible will action improvements on an ongoing basis. Firstly, let me clarify the comments regarding the fake 'camera'. As clearly stated in the welcome notes, there are no cameras in operation. This was confirmed to the client. The rather obvious non-functional dummy was there purely as a theft deterrent whilst the studio was being used for recording. However, and to avoid any concerns, this has now been removed from its velcro fixing and now resides in the garden shed and can be inspected by anyone who may wish to do so. Regarding the space being taken up by the studio equipment, all items in relation to this are stored in either a small cupboard ( 07m x 09m) which doubles as a small vocal booth and contains household items including the premises electrical switchbox. The other equipment is neatly concealed in a recess on a desk or on shelves all concealed behind a screen marked owner access only. As we do offer the recording facility to guests as an option, it is not possible to remove all studio gear, however the only item that is accessible is a single guitar and that is left for guests use and detailed in the description. I think the comment of reading the description is sound advice, it is accurately described as a studio and therefore may not be the best fit for some clients. In considering clients comments and suggestions, we have undertaken the following improvements: We are in the process of doubling the clients wardrobe and storage space. We have introduced a more reliable internet provider and home router to improve connectivity. We have supplied additional kitchen equipment. All client only access items / storage will be locked. Alas, we simply do not have the space in the studio for a dishwasher, even a narrow one. Property Owner
