  • "Glen Euchar House is set in an idyllic glen with the river Euchar flowing at the bottom of the garden."

It is secluded and tranquil; however Tesco deliver which certainly eases the stress after a long drive from Yorkshire. The kitchen is superbly designed and fully equipped; with the exception of possibly a couple of chopping boards; this is a minor niggle as I honestly thought that I had died and gone to kitchen heaven. Prepping food was a pleasure, the dishwasher was great too as was the washer. Drying was more of a chore and a tumble dryer would be appreciated due to the wet weather we encountered. Locally Oban is only 15 minutes drive away and you have Tesco, Aldi and Lidl to shop at. We did not eat out as I was far too busy cooking in that amazing kitchen!! If you intend going to Mull book in advance as we could not get on with the car; also if you wish to go dolphin watching book in advance too as we were disappointed not to be able to go. The leather suite in the lounge is beginning to look a little tired and the electric recliners did not work. It is still comfortable however and the chair reclines manually. The TV and surround sound are great. The WiFi is useable but only around 6Mbps so dont expect too much. Also the BT home Hub 4 needs updating as it does not cover the whole house with black spots with no signal. The master bedroom floor creaks alarmingly on occasion and going to the Loo in the middle of the night is not a quiet affair!! The hot tub is great with room for 4 in perfect comfort, like some aspects of the house it is looking a little tired cosmetically; however works fine and is luxurious! NB The hot tub is not close to the house and is 2 minutes walk across the lawn and down a few steps; which is not a problem; but would be better closer to the house in my opinion. Gordon (Estate Manager) was excellent and although about the estate daily was not intrusive on our tranquillity. In summary: Fab accommodation in a lovely Glen in Scotland. Totally recommended

We had a fabulous week with our two boys, lots of activities, beaches, skimming stones and the hot tub was an added bonus. The house was well equipped but the mattresses could all do with being replaced, as could the sofas in the lounge. However the house was clean and spacious. Gordon the manager was very friendly but not obtrusive.

Gordon the caretaker does a fantastic job in maintaining these. The hot tub is old but in working order although be aware of the midges!! The walk down to the river is lovely. One of the most well equipped houses we have stayed in. Plenty of towels provided. Although there were two other lodges on the ground they are very well hidden and we did not feel as if anyone else was near us.

The house is in amazing gardens and had everything needed for a wonderful holiday and the hot tub was lovely to have. We appreciated that Gordon was on hand if we needed anything as he lives nearby which is great for peace of mind. The house felt spacious for 5 people (Mum and Dad and 3 teenagers) and there is lots of space and never felt cramped which is important to us with 3 teenagers! The kitchen is excellent and had everything we needed to make Christmas dinner. The dining room is perfect also and we really appreciated the Christmas champers and lovely decorations, tree, lights, etc which meant we didn't need to add anything else. Would highly recommend this beautiful place and it made our Christmas very special indeed.

The house was comfy and well equipped and the gardens and views were spectacular. The hot tub was amazing set in an idyllic location in the garden, it even had outdoor speakers set up to play music. The weather let us down but that didn’t matter as we relaxed in the house or sat in the hot tub with umbrella in one hand and drink in the other! It was pricey but we had no regrets about the expense because of the wonderful setting and tranquility the house provided. Gordon, the manager gave us privacy and yet was incredibly helpful when we needed something. He always went above and beyond to help with anything we mentioned.

Set in 18 acres of ground with resident Stag. Be aware that there are no local restaurants. Oban is 9 miles away. The house is extremely well equipped. If I am being picky there are just one or two issues which could be improved. The bed linen is looking a bit worn and could have done with ironing. The lounge suite is also looking tired. The only other issues is that the water comes from the river and despite it going through a filter system comes out of the taps brown. The hot tub is great and well maintained, as are the grounds. Fantastic place for R & R.

Our family’s favourite things were exploring down by the stream, eagle watching from the hot tub with it’s stunning views and enjoying family meals cooked with fresh seafood bought direct from the hut near the ferry station in oban harbour. It’s a great base to explore from and we would recommend the car ferry to the Isle of Mull which is gorgeous and Duart Castle there, island hoping from Mull to Iona where the ruined nunnery and Iona Abby are well worth a visit, there is a cute little sea life sanctuary just passed Oban with a great aquarium and rescue seals who perform tricks at feeding times! We would definitely recommend this cottage and would book again if we come back to Scotland.
