“Letter Steading is in a lovely and unique location on the private road alongside Loch Katrine which is stunning.”

The cottage is cosy and well equipped but would benefit from WiFi as there is no mobile signal. The double mattress and sofa are also a bit tired and becoming uncomfortable and replacement of these would make this lovely cottage even better. The email from the owners with lots of useful info was very much appreciated on arrival as all info has been removed from the cottage with Covid 19 precautions.

“Very cosy cottage, to high specs.”

The last leg of the journey to the cottage along the lake is spectacular. This is a very special place, and the cottage had everything we needed! We enjoyed the quiet surroundings tremendously, but had to cut our stay short due to lack of WiFi and signal - which we couldn't manage due to family commitments (we have to be reachable at nearly all times). Also, the double bed mattress was rather uncomfortable (we are of average stature and could hear/feel the springs when moving) - might need a change?

This rural retreat is ideal for a family seeking to explore the delights of this part of Scotland, carved by an interesting history, rugged scenery and delicious local food to suit a group of all ages and tastes.

After an action-packed day, look forward to relaxing into your evening with the refreshing interior boasting carefully selected furnishings and quality features and appliances to ensure a relaxing holiday to the countryside setting.

Be welcomed into a spacious open-plan living room, where you will be greeted by a contemporary kitchen, with sleek white units and a striking red splash back which houses everything you will need to cater your own delicious meals.

Joining the kitchen is a dining table and a quaint sitting area, where you can look forward to curling up on the plush sofa and tuning into the TV, whilst the woodburning stove fills the room with tranquillity during a winter’s afternoon.

As the evening draws to a close, look forward to retiring to one of the well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a double and a twin.

Each bedroom has been designed with a refreshing colour palette, ample storage and picturesque views to wake up to each morning.

To the outside, there is a large garden area where you and your loved ones can enjoy a spot of alfresco dining whilst soaking up the views of the loch as you tuck into your meal and your canine companions roam the lawn area to stretch their legs during a balmy afternoon.

The town of Callander houses all the amenities you could possibly need, including a selection of pubs, restaurants and shops.

To keep you busy whilst staying here, look forward to exploring the banks of the Loch Katrine on foot or bike, or admire the breath-taking landscape on the 118-year-old Steamship which still offers tours on the waters on Loch Katrine.

Further afield attractions include the pretty Bracklinn Falls which are situated to the north-east of Callander, climbing the mountain peak of Ben Lomond and the endearing Queen Elizabeth Forest Park.

Letter Steading is a wonderful base for a family seeking to tour this majestic part of Scotland.

ABERFOYLE

Stirling 19 miles.

The village of Aberfoyle lies within The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, a popular tourist destination. From Aberfoyle there is easy access to Loch Katrine, where you can take a gentle boat cruise, or the Lake of Menteith, reputed to be the best location for fly fishing for rainbow trout in Central Scotland. Aberfoyle itself offers a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. It has its own 18-hole golf course, and for the more adventurous, the largest ‘Go Ape’ experience in the country, situated at the David Marshall Lodge Visitor Centre. Approximately 20 minutes’ drive away is the Glengoyne Distillery where you can enjoy the Scottish malt whisky experience, or head towards the shores of Loch Lomond, the single biggest expanse of inland water in Britain, offering a variety of activities. Within The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park there are a huge variety of attractions; enjoy a gentle stroll through the Balloch Castle Country Park or the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, or, for the more adventurous, the mountains offer challenging walks and climbs. For a family day out, stop off at the Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park on your way to the nearby city of Stirling, with its ancient castle and Wallace Monument of great historic interest. Further away, the city of Edinburgh is well worth a visit.
