But the accommodation needs some attention and a thorough deep clean. Weekly cleaning appears superficial. We arrived to find the wood burner open and ash all over the floor. Windows and window sills very grubby as was the back of chairs. Pillows were very stained as we found out when we removed the linen at the end of the week. Bathroom and sauna in good order, which was at odds with rusty baking sheets covered in foil. Which is a shame as it could be really nice. Very well equipped and in excellent location. Hope to go again next year Reviewed by StuartMar 2022 "The property was perfect in its position, fantastic views and peace and quiet." The bed was one of the most comfortable we have had on holiday and the owner who was staying in the cottage next door was extremley hospitable and helpful when we had a problem with our car, on balance we would love to return, however the property is in need of an update, the kitchen and bathroom are very tired, and cleanliness was a bit of an issue, window ledges were covered in dead insects and the blinds in bathroom were very dirty, We don't usually do reviews so we hope this review is helpful to the owner and anyone wishing to stay. Reviewed by JosieMay 2021 "The island is beautiful." We were lucky to visit in such good weather and when the place was so quiet. Every day we explored new parts of the island... taking our dog, Bertie, for walks and picnics on beaches, in forests, up Ben More... a beautiful island with lots of wildlife and stunning scenery. 'So glad we went. The cottage was fantastic... just right for what we needed... easy to access, with fantastic views out of every window. The log-burner kept the place really warm. We hope to visit again in the future. Reviewed by AustinApr 2021 "Starfish cottage was absolutely wonderful and extremely good value for money." We have visited many cottages but this was one of the best. Lovely views, great location and added extras like the sauna and jacuzzi bath were great. We met the owner who checked on the houses after the storms and he was really friendly too. Would happily go back and could spend a couple of weeks there easily. Our dog loved it too. Excellent location for exploring Mull. Reviewed by MatildaAug 2020 "To say this cottage surpassed expectations would be wildly understating the fact!" This was less like a holiday cottage but more like a luxury small home, in fact in terms of amenities there is more in this cottage than I have at my home! Not to mention the views which are beyond amazing, we were even lucky enough to have an eagle (could have been a buzzard, but given the size I am thinking Golden Eagle) swing by for a close view. The views themselves would be enough to sell this place, but the comfort and facilities are second to none. Cozying up in the evening with the dog in front of the fire and a movie on looking out the picture window was spectacular. As an aside, any communication I had with the owner was fantastic; really pleasant, friendly, and quick to come back. Starfish Cottage was really comfortable, views were incredible too (could literally sit on the sofa and enjoy vies right over the Sound of Mull!!) Lots of lovely wildlife around as well as the friendly horses and dog from the neighboring farmhouse. The Jacuzzi bath, sauna and steam power shower were amazing, especially after long days exploring. Reviewed by HuguesSep 2019 "The cottage location, position, kitchen, lounge and bedroom fine but the bathroom was well below expectations - and a lot is made of this in the write up!" !!! The water supply to the shower was very hot, almost impossible to stand under. The temperature control was malfunctioning. Given that the sauna was next door it should have been possible to regulate from cold to hot easely. A very fancy and expensive piece of equipment but impossible to use for more than a few seconds at a time! The jacuzzi seemed to be a complete waste of water being almost big enough for two people. Switched it on but couldn't switch it off, except at the supply. You don't expect to hire a cottage with the description on your site and then be expected to use drinking water from plastic bottles. I had a feeling that this was not a recent malfunction and it really needs sorting out. I have no problem with water supply coming off the mountain, or discolouration, but guests should not be expected to experience any problems with water supply. Thank you very much for your feedback. I am really sorry to hear that you had issues with the shower but can confirm that it is now fixed. I always contact my guests to welcome them before they arrive and I also leave my contact details in the property. Unfortunately I did not hear from you or this could have been resolved during your stay. Regarding the bath, there is a button in the middle among the dials on the bath which switches the Jacuzzi on and off. All the information is in the instruction book in the property. I did contact you before your holiday to advise that, due to the bad weather, there were issues with my private water supply and I will provide pure bottled water for drinking during your stay. I assumed that this was OK as you did not advise otherwise. I am sorry that you were not happy with these issues, which have not happened before, but thank you for all your comments.
