  • "This really was home from home, one of the best we have stayed in."

Everything you needed was on hand and the accommodation was warm, clean and very modern. Upon arrival there was a note left apologising for the shop being closed and unable to provide afternoon tea but treats and milk had been left in the fridge and tea and coffee in the cupboard. The host had thought of everything right down to washing up liquid, all you needed to take was your weekly shop. We all enjoyed our stay and our three dogs loved their walks to the beach which was only 10 minutes away. Doonfoot is such a lovely place, so quiet considering there are quite a few properties and we know if we are in the area again we'll book Bright and Beautiful again. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your lovely home.

Clean and comfortable with everything you'd need and a perfect enclosed garden for our little dog. Easy walk down to the beach too and also to the coop shop. For 5 adults, a shower over the bath would have been useful, but overall we had a perfect stay.

  • "The house was just as described …."

Bright and beautiful. However, we were disappointed with the very bad state of cooking trays, they definitely had seen their day and not an expensive item to replace. I could not think to use them without first lining them with kitchen foil. The saucepans which did not appear to be non stick were pretty scratched on the bottom too. On opening the cutlery drawer, I found the drawer itself not as clean as it should have been, which meant I had to put all the cutlery through the dishwasher. The grass was pretty long and no-one appeared to cut it during the week of our stay, despite the good weather we had.

Beautiful, clean and comfortable and the back garden was truly secure for the dogs. The high tea welcome pack was a delightful surprise, and absolutely delicious!! Just a 10 minute walk to the beach for the dogs walks! Shops within easy reach. Our only complaint, and it's more of a suggestion than a complaint, is the shower. It's truly awful, I'm sorry. Perhaps a new shower head might be an idea? There's barely a trickle of water comes out. Having said that it did not spoil our stay. Lovely property. Thank you so much

We arrived on Saturday 19th November to gain access into this modern three bedroom bungalow in a quite housing estate. This holiday cottage had everything we needed to accommodate our family and dogs. On arrival we found a delightful tea of sandwiches, scones and cakes in the fridge and this made the start of our holiday wonderful. The beds were very comfortable, the whirlpool bath was sensational, the kitchen had everything we wanted and the rear enclosed garden was brilliant to allow our dogs to have an enjoyable time. The cottage was exceptional clean and there wasn’t a spec of dirt inside the bungalow. Greenan Beach was only 10 minutes walk away and it only took 5 minutes to walk to the shops. I will recommend this cottage to our family and friends and we will definitely return to this holiday cottage in the next few years.

  • "I'm reluctant to say this but I was so disappointed with the cleanliness of the house."

Cobwebs in kitchen, living room, main bedroom & double bedroom. Both toilets vents covered in thick dust. Radiator in ensuite has years of accumulated dust. Placemats & coasters grubby. Both couches are extremely grubby also with accumulated food down the sides and seams. Skirting boards in each room were in need of a good scrub. I have taken photographs just in case my comments are disputed Given we're living through a pandemic I was astonished. To the positive. Great contained garden for small dog. Very secure and well maintained. Great location and very quiet . Short walk to the lovely beach. Very well equipped kitchen and plenty of towels and bed linen. The afternoon tea was a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. In summary We arrived in the evening so I didn't see the true condition of the house until the next day. I was going to call the number left in case of problems, but I couldn't live with having to move back our for the hours it would have taken to bring it up to the necessary standard. I felt the late check in of 4.00pm and early check out of 10.00pm was extreme. All problems are easily dealt with and if the house was given a much needed deep clean it would a gem of a place.

Thank you so much for your feedback, its very important to me that you have a great holiday experience at Bright and Beautiful Holiday Cottage and guest feedback helps me to continually improve the property standards. I am most pleased that you enjoyed the afternoon tea on arrival, and the great contained garden for your small dog, the superb location and peacefulness. Pleasing also to hear you enjoyed the short walk to the lovely beach and also the very well equipped kitchen and cottage with plenty of towels etc., My changeover specialist Janet and her team have done a great job all season, as can be evidenced by the many Fantastic reviews received. I am surprised that you didn't contact Janet or Sykes during your stay regarding any cleanliness issue, as her number is shown on the Guest Feedback form that is left for all guests. Had Janet been contacted we would have dealt almost immediately with any cleanliness issues. Our motto at Bright & Beautiful is that 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness'. We take pride in what we do, and Janet takes photographs of each room cleaned just before our guests arrive at 4pm. The photographs are emailed to me to ensure that our standards are always high. • "At first glance the house looked clean when met by the owner but during unpacking I noticed the floors were very dirty and hadn't been washed in a while as my bare feet were filthy walking about."

The mop and bucket were bone dry and actually had dust in bucket which is how I can confirm this fact. I then had to spend a couple of hours scrubbing the mould and soap scum from shower cubicle which hadn't been cleaned in months. The fridge had mould, the toaster was full of old crumbs and was very grubby as well as a dirty microwave (inside). The cleaning left a lot to be desired. The beds were also very uncomfortable and one of them sagged in the middle. The cushions in the living room also had to be washed as they stank. It's a shame as this is a lovely house in a lovely part of Ayr. Owner needs to double check cleanliness prior to cleaner leaving and renters arriving. Won't be renting again. This is first time in ten years I've put in a bad review.

Thank you so much for your feedback, its very important to me that you have a great holiday experience at Bright and Beautiful Cottage and guest feedback helps me to continually improve the property standards. The cleaning company spray the quality wooden flooring with wood cleaning solution and then mop floors accordingly. The mop bucket used in the cleaning process is then placed in the garage (The mop bucket you seen was in the hall cupboard). The bed in bedroom 2 has a memory foam mattress. I appreciate memory foam is not to everyone's liking (Memory foam mattresses do tend to dip/sag to match an individuals sleeping position). Some guests prefer memory foam as can facilitate a relaxing sleep. The cushions were brand new and I agree hadn't been washed - had been purchased from a reputable high street retailer and brought to the cottage on the morning of the changeover. Property Owner
