  • "It is time for a modern TV."

Not digibox that only plays in black and white. Also the electric fire in the lounge area was not working - probably just a fuse needed. Otherwise a nice relaxing stay was had in a clean chalet.

  • "Lovely lodge with the most amazing views and access to Loch Awe."

This is our 2nd visit to this lodge and it was just as wonderful and relaxing as the first time we were there. Received a bottle of wine on arrival which was a great, and unexpected, surprise. Facilities are great and the place was clean and well kept.

  • "Beautiful secluded location and well equipped and clean chalet, we stayed in Osprey."

The owners Les and Michelle are very friendly and approachable as are their 2 dogs Darcy and Bea. We took our dog with us and couldn't keep her out of the Loch and she instantly made friends with Darcy and Bea. Such a tranquil location and very close to the banks of the loch. I would well recommend this place for a quiet retreat and even better if you enjoy fishing. Inveraray is 9 miles away for the nearest shops, so stock up before hand. There's a phone box on the single track road leading to the with a honestly box and there's eggs, cakes etc. There's a hotel on the road to the property and does very nice food and is only 5 mins drive or a 1 mile walk away. Oban is 30 miles away with the ferry to Mull which is well worth going, unfortunately we didn't because of the weather, but will be doing next year.

Absolutely beautiful. It was so quiet and tranquil. We want to tell everyone about it but then again, we want to keep it a secret so there is more availability for when we want to return again. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

Wardrobe in twin room a little hard to access as not enough space to open doors properly otherwise great. Bottle of wine on arrival was very welcome but welcome pack of say milk bread etc would be nice as nearest shop some distance away especially when arriving late afternoon.

  • "We spent 4 nights at Osprey Lodge last week and though weather was quite wet we so enjoyed the fantastic views and peaceful location, right beside Loch Awe."

The lodge is very cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. Not close to shops but we took provisions (with hindsight could have arranged a Tesco delivery) Inveraray is about 15 mins drive with reasonable small shops and a fish and chip shop, you can park overlooking the loch . There are lots of interesting places to visit not so far afield, such as Inveraray Castle and Oban, this is a great base to explore Argyll, or just to spend a relaxing break recharging your batteries, Osprey Lodge was very dog friendly and our cavalier Bertie loved the freedom to explore the surroundings and lochside. Many thanks to Michelle and Les for being so welcoming and for sharing their beautifully kept gardens and wonderful location. We will definitely return!

Poor indication of nearest shop which was 13 miles away and only a very basic store at that. No information given about a bigger store in Inveraray. Inaccurate information about distance to Oban.

  • "I loved my holiday in Osprey Lodge, the setting is wonderful with magnificent views across the loch & the hills beyond."

The lodge is very nicely furnished & well equipped. Spacious living room, kitchen diner with big windows out to the lochside view. Huge deep modern bath with shower over which was very welcome to soothe my aches away after a days walking. Les and Michelle are really friendly but not imposing, they're around if you need them, but otherwise the property is so vast you might never bump into them. If you come with a dog, as I did then it's ideal to have the massive lawned area and the lochside to excercise them without having to actually go anywhere. The nearest village shop is around 12 miles away so make sure you've got everything you need certainly for the first day or so, it's 12 miles along a narrow twisty windy road so you'll be kicking yourself if the kids send you out because you forgot the ketchup ! Tesco in Oban is around 32 miles away for the more numerous requirements. Oban is a nice town, lots of on street paid parking, quirky shops and good restaurants. The area around Loch Awe offers some stunning scenery and it's worth exploring, Osprey Lodge offers a good base to allow you to do that.

  • "The lodge couldn't have been more cosy."

It was warm and clean. All linen was fresh and more than adequate. We had a warm welcome with a lovely bottle of vino left for us. There was every conceivable gadget and household item for use. The bathroom was modern and a good size. We used the cooking facilities as bad weather kept us in for a couple of days. The hotel close by did wonderful meals as well. I think the only downside was that we couldn't walk along the loch but the tracks were adequate. Hint... Do take a torch!

However Osprey Lodge was wonderful. The Lodge was warm and comfortable, the views superb, in fact breathtaking and our hosts helpfull. The weather, not so good but the overall peace and beauty of the place made up for that. It would help if directions where better, once on to the single track road we passed the place and the sign we saw said " Private no camping and fishing" WQe had failed to see the sign for the Lodges. Once there we were delighted. The bed was so comfortable as was the seating in the lounge area. You would have to take provisions however as the shops are quite some distance away. All in all a wonderful stay. truly peace for the soul. Ann & Bill Mellows.

The apartment itself is cosy and comfortable and big enough for four adults. We would certainly recommend this holliday home. Some little recommendations: We missed a little broom to keep the floor clean and the cooking set is a bit poor. The frying pan was too much damaged to use.

About the location

DALMALLY

Tyndrum 11 miles; Oban 27 miles.

The village of Dalmally, on the road between Tyndrum and Oban in Argyll and Bute, probably began life as a settlement to provide for the nearby Kilchurn Castle, established in the mid 15th century by the 1st Lord of Glenorchy, Sir Colin Campbell. Through many generations, the Campbells vied with the earls of Argyll for dominance in this region and the castle was only abandoned in the 18th century. The modern village of Dalmally has a shop, Post Office and a hotel as well as Glenorchy parish church, with its octagonal design. There's also a nine hole parkland golf course, set just behind the village and Loch Awe, offering a very scenic and peaceful place to practice your swing. The renowned Gaelic poet Duncan Ben MacIntyre was born in the area, and a walk up forested hills brings you to his monument, as well as spectacular views of Loch Awe and the surrounding mountains. Its location makes the village an ideal base for touring the spectacular scenery nearby. Visit Loch Awe and its ruined castle, and nearby Ben Cruachan is not only a fabulous walk but also houses the Cruachan power station, where visitors can tour the hollowed-out mountain. Oban is a short drive away with ferries to the Western Isles, or take a drive through awe-inspiring Glen Coe. Dalmally is surrounded by sublime scenery, making it a wonderful base for your next Scottish getaway.
