  • "Cottage had fantastic views."

Parking was good, but track to cottage is unpaved and slightly potholed. It was ok in a Tesla Model 3 though (that has a low ground clearance). Speaking of electric cars I was also able to charge up my car using my own extension cable run through the window into a kitchen socket. We left some money to cover the extra electricity costs. Bed was comfortable and supportive (I do have a bad back so this was very welcome). House was warm, kitchen had good storage space (cupboard, fridge and freezer). Kitchen utensils & crockery were sufficient for our needs, but some kitchen scales would have been handy! We also had a complimentary Prosecco and biscuits which were well received! However provision of basic consumable materials (toilet roll, bin liners, foil, salt, extra logs, firelighters) was very thin. There was therefore a need to go shopping for such things. We’ve found other cottages normally have these things provided in sufficient quantity so this was coming up a little short.

  • "We have just returned from this cottage after spending a week over the Christmas holidays (including Christmas day)."

We have had the most amazing time at this cottage with views to die for. The cottage had everything you could ask for to make the stay comfortable. Dondie even took the trouble to ring us before our arrival to advise us that the local shop would be closed over the Christmas period. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway to recharge your batteries I would highly recommend this cottage. It is one of the best we have stayed in.

  • "We had a lovely time, the accomodation was perfect, great location with fantastic views."

The cottage was clean, warm and we will be returning. We enjoyed bird spotting and saw a white tailed eagle. Lots of seals and otters. Fantastic holiday.

  • "Dondie's was a lovely place to stay, and we had a very enjoyable week."

Whenever we book accommodation we always hope that it will be spotlessly clean and warm enough, with plenty of hot water, plus a comfortable bed. Dondie's had all of this and more, plus the most amazing view!

  • "Lovely view from cottage and short walk to small beach."

Very remote and quiet, ideal for a relaxing break. Quite a lot of single track roads to get there so not ideal for nervous drivers.

Will we return again? - of course. Beautiful views across Sanna and the inner islands. It only brings happy memories for me from many a summer holiday in Portuairk.

  • "The location of the cottage is ideal."

Views to sanna beach are beautiful. The cottage was cosy, and had everything that we needed. The outside seats were appreciated as was the fully set log burner. The bed was comfy and everything was clean, and the full size freezer was an unexpected surprise. I was very pleasantly surprised to have WiFi too. Bit fir us, thd magicif the week was the view. Thank you Donald for a lovely week in your cottage.

  • "Very bad location for elderly holiday makers extremely difficult access to the beach, garden furniture not acceptable no clothesline for drying washing T."

    V. remote not working -not batteries- - no kitchen scissors or veg knife or microwave dishes. No user instructions for equipment in the property kitchen sink plug to small and had to padded with tissue to fit. These are small points to correct but added to the acute disappointment of not being able to access the beach became an added irritation. The cottage should be advertised as not suitable for the elderly. Re feedback 2 E-Mails and a covering were sent to Sykes last week - both unacknowledged

  • "Loved our holiday at dondies as we always do but 1 thing missing this year was a garden table, couldn’t sit outside and have our dinner or when sitting out at night with a refreshment nowhere to sit our glasses."

Can’t promise on our return as the hike in prices for next year are ridiculous and have already pushed us to look elsewhere in the area.

  • "Donald , the owner visited after our arrival to make sure we had everything we needed (which we did - Dondies had all we needed)."

We had a great week with lovely weather, great beaches and walks from doorstep. Garden secure for our dog. A great "get away from it all" base to unwind. Views to Isles of Muck, Rum Eigg & Skye amazing and wonderful sunsets to end great days out. Loved our week at Dondies, would recommend and we will definitely return in the future

  • "Only spent one night in property due to the uncomfortable bed."

It was as though there was no wadding in place’s between the springs and the outer fabric and you could see outline of springs. Only 3 hangers in wardrobe. On arrival property listed with tumble dryer, no dryer. In cupboards 2 dinner plates, 2 side plates, 2 soup plates, 2 each knives, forks, spoons & teaspoons. 2 each mugs, wine glasses & tumblers. No teapot, condiment sets etc. that come in most kitchens. Very poorly equipped. We have been in other properties during the pandemic which had the full range of normal kitchen equipment. If the bed had been comfortable we could have coped with the lack of kitchen equipment. All in all very disappointing experience. I have already phoned you and ref is COR-212319-CF. I would appreciate your feedback.

We had a fantastic week exploring the area. The ferry ( only 4 miles away ) to Tobermory, Mull was a great day out. We met Donald the owner at the beginning & end of our week. He is very informative, friendly & happy to give advice about the area etc.

About the location

Tobermory 7 miles (via ferry).

The pretty village of Portuairk, near Kilchoan is the most westerly village in mainland Britain, situated on the stunning Ardnamurchan Peninsula and surrounded by magnificent mountains and breathtaking coastal views. The area close to Kilchoan offers a choice of quiet sandy beaches and an abundance of wildlife with eagles regularly spotted overhead. Until 1900 the village was only accessible by sea, but now access is via a single track road that leads through some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland. The village has good local services including a shop, pub, restaurant and community centre. From Mingary Pier there is a regular ferry service across the Sound of Mull to Tobermory which gives the opportunity to explore the islands of Mull and Iona. There are wildlife excursions on land and sea and the new Ardnamurchan Distillery and Natural History Centre are added attractions. A short drive away is Ardnamurchan Point complete with its own lighthouse and visitor centre which is well worth a visit, or perhaps you simply want to sit on the glorious Sanna Beach and enjoy the views across the clear blue sea to the islands of Muck, Eigg and Rum?
