  • "What a find, lovely cabin in a quiet and relaxing location."

Perfect base for exploring Argyll. The hosts are very welcoming and have given much attention to detail in the cabin, resulting in a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. Our staffy also enjoyed his stay here, and local walks. Thank you, and we look forward to returning.

  • "Kilmartin View is an absolute treasure, I have stayed in many cottages and they don't usually meet my cleanliness standard this one did."

The house is beautifully furnished and the hosts are very welcoming. Lots of information is provided about local places to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and cannot recommend it highly enough. Its location is amazing.

  • "What a fabulous place - surrounded by exquisite countryside, nature and history (ancient monuments)."

Jacinta and Iain were wonderful hosts with lots of help and information, a chat and a cheery wave. The property was secluded, quiet, homely, well furnished and warm. The beds were the comfiest we've ever encountered on holiday and an abundance of hot water and heating. Cannot fault this holiday location, owners or property IN ANY WAY and would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a central location to the abundant historical sites and stunning locations in the Heart of Argyll. We could have done with another month to start even scratching the surface of the places of interest and would have enjoyed the stay.

  • "The cottage is located within a breathtaking glen."

A truly stunning environment to get away from it all. Jacinda has taken every effort to ensure that the cottage is stocked with all necessary items....and it's so much more spacious inside than it looks on the outside due to very clever layout. She was extremely friendly and welcoming and very knowledgable about the local area. I really hope we get to return to kilmartin again one day. Thoroughly recommend this accommodation.

  • "We would highly recommend Kilmartin View as a base for exploring this historic region."

There are so many ancient monuments within walking distance of the cottage. It’s also a great base for the many beaches & castles that can be explored in Kintyre and in north west Argyll, along with the many wonderful islands off the west coast. Crinan canal also provides an excellent point for many easy walks, this property is ideal for dog owners. The property owner, Jacinta & Iain, have thought of everything to make a week away at Kilmartin View as comfortable and as helpful as possible. The local tips for places to visit and for cafes, good value restaurants and water sports activities were all very welcome and spot on, just a shame we never had time to try them all! All in all this is a very good place for a weeks holiday.

  • "We had an excellent holiday at Kilmartin View."

The hosts are super helpful and the cabin is very comfortable. It is positioned well - with all the bronze age monuments around and about with plenty to do elsewhere - you can have a mixture of country and sea side here (although beaches are a car ride away). We had something to do every day. It is set in a beautiful Glen. The only recommendations for change would be to provide a BBQ and if there was a gate on the entrance as it is not currently secure for a dog with the entrance being open. We parked the car across the entrance which worked for us but if you have a dog who actively escapes you might have a job on your hands. However, small points on a very fun holiday

About the location

Kilmartin Glen 5 miles; Crinan 7 miles; Kilmartin 8.5 miles; Inveraray 24 miles; Oban 37 miles

Located at the top end of Loch Gilp, which opens from the much larger Loch Fyne, the town of Lochgilphead was originally designed as a planned town. Founded towards the end of the 18th century and following on from the opening of the road from Inverary to Campbeltown, Lochgilphead grew and developed after the nearby Crinan Canal was opened, thus improving connectivity across the peninsula. Today Lochgilphead is a popular tourist spot with a variety of shops, cafes and bars. The surrounding scenery on all sides is beautiful and there are many scenic drives to be had to Inverary with its jail and castle and Crinan with the famous canal. Kilmartin Glen is one of Scotland’s richest landscapes with over 800 historic monuments, cairns, standing stones and circles, and rock art dating back over 5000 years! Visit the Kilmartin museum, an internationally acclaimed archaeology museum and uncover the area's mesmerising history. Lochgilphead and the surrounding area also play host to many festivals throughout the year and whether your preference is for music, food or Highland games, there will be something for everyone here.
