  • "Our third stay in The Barn at Daldorch and as it is such an amazing cosy cottage with absolutely everything available for an enjoyable holiday we have to keep going back !"

Owners are so friendly and helpful and have put a lot of thought into making guests comfortable. Situation is ideal for us and our dog with walks nearby. The best cottage we have stayed in ,in our over thirty years self-catering holidays.

  • "Cottage was very clean however lacked character."

The owners were next door and was overlooking everything we did therefore there was no privacy at all. We got disturbed by the owners as they kept on ringing the bell to check on number of things. Bob was helpful when I needed to just charge my car on the three pin plug until I found a proper charging point as I had never driven in Scotland on a electric car before. However presented with a bill just prior to leaving without a warning that they were going to charge for electricity. We were never in the cottage during the day time therefore never used any of the electrical items in the house. The cottage was very very warm as it was a warm day in Scotland but we were not allowed to turn down the hive heating system as the owners were monitoring this from home. We had a few very uncomfortable sleep as it was so hot overnight. Beds were very uncomfortable and hard. Kitchen was well equipped and clean. Wi-Fi was very slow. The cottage was lit up and decorated through the night wasting electricity and making it difficult to sleep. All the games were taken out due to covid which we did not know, therefore we did not take any games. It would have been nice to be informed about the changes as the website still said they provide with board games. This destroyed the dark sky experience for us. Nice cottage but not for someone who wants to getaway and have a peaceful stay after a very stressful period working in the NHS.

The Barn at Daldorch is quite superb. I really could not fault any aspect of it: so clean, well appointed with comfortable seating and beds. The heating was more than adequate and the wood fire lovely, with unlimited fuel included. The welcome pack was the best we have ever seen and the hosts available but not intrusive. One tiny disappointment: no garlic press!!!!!!!!!!! Supurb

The barn was extremely well presented & can safely say it was one of the best holiday cottages we have ever had - Mr & Mrs Forbes had thought of everything. It was very clean & very comfortable. It was quite remote so you do need a car but the quietness was lovely - hearing the woodpeckers & birds & seeing deer on the field & the river to walk along was outstanding. Hubby did some fishing but no fish caught - unfortunately ! We will be going back when we can. If you want a good place to eat we can recommend the Chef Worldwide Buffet in Dundonald - it was very good - all you can eat - we had a 3 course meal plus unlimited soft drinks for £13 each ! Great holiday all round. Oh by the way the trip we took to the Isle of Arran was beautiful. If you can you must go.

Great location if you want to get away from it all and just chill. We were made most welcome, with Linda showing us around and making sure we knew how things worked. The cottage was very cosy and that was without using the log burner. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you would need - Linda had thought of everything, even down to dishwasher tablets, liquitabs for the washing machine and new dishcloths for the kitchen and separate colour coded ones for the bathrooms! There was plenty of information on all the local tourist attractions. Loved the welcome pack with homemade bread and marmalade, tea and coffee, and a nice surprise of fresh orange juice, milk and butter in the fridge. No expense was spared on the bed linen, towels and crockery. All in all I would highly recommend this accommodation.

One of our party is a wheelchair user. We found the property suited to her needs, with enough space to get about. Despite being fairly isolated in location, the property is within driving distance of many interesting attractions.
