“My wife and I have just returned from a week at The Stables.”
The quality of the décor, furnishings and facilities is outstanding, and we had a very comfortable stay. A wet week in October was not the time to enjoy the outside space. My view is that although the property is advertised as sleeping 6, it is ideal for 2 with plenty of space, and would also be fine for 4. I would imagine 6 would be cramped. Essentially, all my thoughts are positive, except for one. The Stables is approx. 0.6 mile from the road, down what for the most part is a farm track. The sections at either end are surfaced and not a problem, but the middle part most certainly was during our stay. A very uneven track, covered in mud, water, and general debris, and many many craters which were filled with muddy water. Only by driving very slowly (slower than walking pace) were we able to negotiate this without almost certainly damaging our car. When I drove away for the final time I felt euphoria at the thought of never having to return. I am sure a robust 4x4 or a Jeep would be fine, a tractor even better, but if you have a car of mere mortals (like us), then I suggest you find somewhere else.
