"Beautiful property and views."

We had a lovely week, it was a perfect place for our family and dog to stay while we visited relatives on Bute. Will definitely be back.

The property is excellent and is a fantastic position We arrived to find another party in the property- this mistake occurred due to them not looking properly at their details but also the fact that the 2 adjacent cottages had the same key code and also were not named the same as the Sykes details - the signs on the property didnt mention Quen West We therefore started our break having to completely sanitise the property as the other party had used the facilities, touched all the doors etc We have stayed here before and on both occassions there has not been enough kitchen equipment such as cooking tins, decent knives and any condiments - things you are unlikely to have on arrival We also think it should be made clear that in the off season most of Rothersay shuts down and there is very limited eating options in the island and none that accept dogs - if you are looking to get away from it all this isnt the option as you will need to cook each night

There was only one chopping board which you had to use whether slicing bread, chopping raw meat or chopping veggies. A second one would have been useful. 2.The property details said that the cottage had a private patio which was enclosed. "Outside this lovely cottage is an enclosed patio with garden and furniture". The patio wasn't enclosed - it was open to the driveway and farm fields which was a bit problematic for us with one very active dog who could very easily slip under the farm fence wires into the farmer's fields.Luckily we realised this as soon as we arrived so could take steps to avoid this. With 2 dogs, an enclosed patio/garden/yard is essential and something we always look for when booking a property. There wasn't any patio furniture out either but assume it had been stored away as it was February (the weather was unusually warm) so can understand that. 3.Info stated that there was a "selection of books, games and DVDs". There was nothing. We called the property number (there was no corkscrew either) and a lady very kindly popped round on Monday morning (we were out) and left a handful of books, a few dvd's, a game of domino's and a pack of cards. Pretty poor game selection compared to other Sykes properties we've rented. A few jigsaw puzzles and board games would have been nice. More importantly she brought a corkscrew! 4.More information regarding walks (esp with dogs) would have been welcome. There wasn't the usual guest book with previous visitor feedback - (we always find that useful). There may have been one in the adjoining property? 5.One small point in your property description - the en suite bathroom is actually a Jack and Jill - shared by the 2 double bedrooms. It's not necessarily for the sole use of the main double. Third bedroom is a twin. It looks like you may possibly have the bedroom and bathroom layout descriptions mixed up with Ref 945136 McKinley Cottage? Anyone coming into the cottage needs to note that there are no provisions of the basics at all - salt, pepper, tea etc. or a sharp knife! Didn't bother us as we always bring the basics (and sharp knife) with us but may catch some visitors out.Very welcome basket of bread, eggs, milk and butter (no cheese as shown in the picture on the property info. Again not a problem.) was left for us. Despite the above points (which I think are quite minor - apart from the enclosed patio bit), it was in a fabulous position and very warm. It was very sad to leave such a lovely place. :)

"Our holiday home made our holiday."

We would certainly be happy to go again. Everything was lovely and exceptionally clean. Two minor issues , each bedroom has a lovely double wardrobe but only 4 hangers! And a few more plates would be useful for when the others are in the dishwasher. As I say these are minor issues and do not take away that this is a fabulous holiday home.

The property

This ground floor cottage has kitchen units that can be lowered making it suitable for wheelchair users.

There are three double bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room, and a large open plan living area encompassing a fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a woodburner and lovely picture window with superb views of the coast.

Outside this lovely cottage is a patio with garden and furniture.

Quien Cottages

Rothesay 4 miles. These three stunning holiday cottages are impressively situated on the west coast of Bute overlooking Scalpsie Bay with the beautiful island of Arran forming a spectacular backdrop. ROTHESAY, ISLE OF BUTE

Port Bannatyne 2.2 miles; Kilchattan Bay 7 miles

Although its castle dates from the 13th Century, the seaside town of Rothesay became very popular as a tourist destination in the Victorian era when many Glaswegians would go ‘doon the watter’ (down the River Clyde) and across on the ferry to Bute. Today there is much to do and see on this beautiful island which is very accessible by ferry crossing, either the 35 minute trip from Wemyss Bay or else the shorter 5 minute crossing to the north of the island from Colintraive. Visit the castle ruins in the centre of town, enjoy the stunning scenery with coastal walks or on one of the cycle routes around the island and visit historic Mount Stuart House as well as its superb gardens. Why not try one of the island’s three golf courses or chill out at Scalpsie Bay and watch the seals, with stunning views across to Arran?
