“We had a lovely stay at West Cottage.”

Great location to explore Loch Lomond and the Highlands (2-3 hour drive). The welcome treats were a nice bonus including a colouring book for our son. We’d requested a cot and highchair from both the organisers and the owner in which we were informed they would be provided. Unfortunately upon arrival there was no sign of these items. We didn’t find the highchair until the day we left which was stored in the bottom of a side cupboard. We never found the cot but thankfully brought our own given other past experiences. It would have been great to know where to find these things before our arrival. I didn’t contact the owner as we made do with what we had but good for others to know where to find these items in the future. These small details didn’t affect our experience as a whole.

Charming detached cottage in the village of Tarbet, near Arrochar and close to stunning Loch Lomond.

Nestling within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and refurbished and decorated to a high standard, this lovely Loch Lomond cottage is the ideal place for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland.

You enter through the back door and there is a step up from the porch to the main body of the cottage.

You pass the shower room and kitchen, and along the wooden floored hall, passing the double bedroom.

The sitting room has a dining alcove and a further king-size bedroom off.

A cosy woodburning stove accentuates the attractive original stonework that the owners have made feature throughout the cottage.

The delightful kitchen is the ideal place to rustle up a meal if you don’t fancy eating out.

Just across the road from the hotel you can catch a cruise and see Loch Lomond and the spectacular hills surrounding it.

About the location

ARROCHAR

Helensburgh 15 miles.

The village of Arrochar lies at the head of Loch Long, the most northerly point in the network of lochs that extend north from the Clyde Estuary. Surrounded by mountains, the area has become a focal point for climbers wishing to climb Ben Arthur, affectionately known as the Cobbler and other popular mountains in the immediate area, which all lie within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Arrochar itself offers a large selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and is situated just a mile and a half to the west of the Loch Lomondside village of Tarbet, with both villages sharing a railway station that lies near the high point of the valley connecting the two. Loch Lomond, the single biggest expanse of inland water in Britain offers a variety of activities. Enjoy a gentle stroll through the Balloch Castle Country Park or the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, which will guide you past attractive lochside villages and sandy bays, or, for the more adventurous, the mountains offer challenging walks and climbs. For a family day out the nearby town of Helensburgh, with its broad avenues, is well worth a visit.
