“The apartment was really well presented and spotlessly clean, we felt very comfortable and covid safe.”

The owners had left us milk, tea, coffee, bicuits and some cleaning/antibacterial products much welcome when we arrived, until our supermarket delivery arrived. A good base for the seeing the area

Flat is comfortable, modern and roomy. Also quiet. Owners made us v welcome with a hamper including a four pinter of milk in the fridge. Lovely touch. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.

It is a great base for exploring the surrounding area. However, Ardrossan has very little in the way of bars and restaurants so you will need to drive to find places if you don’t want to cook in the apartment.

The property

This lovely ground-floor apartment rests in a quiet residential area in the coastal town of Saltcoats, near Ardrossan in the North Ayrshire region of Scotland.

3 Meiklelaught Place offers comfortable and spacious accommodation for a couple or small family wanting to explore the surrounding coast and countryside, while being within driving distance of Ayr, Kilmarnock and the city of Glasgow.

Head up a flight of stairs into the main entrance and head inside the property (or there is an alternate stair-free entrance from the rear car park) and be met with a homely and contemporary sitting room, with a lovely bay window from which you can enjoy distant sea views, along with two plush sofas to relax onto as you enjoy watching the Sky TV and making plans for your stay.

There is also a dining table in the widow, where you can enjoy a meal with a view, prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, with fridge/freezer, electric oven and a host of appliances and amenities to aid you with any culinary requirements.

There are two good-sized bedrooms to choose from; a twin with storage space and an attractive double with built-in wardrobes and a TV, both served by the family bathroom with shower over bath.

Outside, you can find parking on the communal car park, while the closest shop is about a five-minute walk away.

Saltcoats offers a small selection of shops and eateries, including a supermarket and fish and chip shop, as well as a harbourside café.

Stroll around the harbour and enjoy a day at the nearby sandy beach of South beach, about a mile and a half from the property.

You can learn more about the local history of the area at the North Ayrshire Heritage Centre and why not hop on a ferry to explore nearby Rothesay and Arran?

The Isle of Arran is situated in the Firth of Clyde and makes for a fascinating day out, with its 19th Century castle and gardens.

Neolithic Machrie Moor Standing Stones and a challenging hike to the peak of the mountain at Goatfell.

Head to Kilmarnock and discover lovely country parks, ideal for afternoon stroll, along with riverside walks beside the River Irvine and Kilmarnock Water, which both run through the town, as well as a golf course and a range of shops and restaurants.

You can also travel south down the coast towards the town of Ayr, with its scenic, family-friendly beach, while the city of Glasgow is around a 45-minute drive away.

There are plenty of opportunities for days out and adventure from your doorstep at this wonderful apartment.
