  • "A lovely garage conversion but feels like it has been furnished from unwanted things in the house."

From previous reviews, we took a mattress topper which is a must. I would also recommend taking your own pillows. Dishes were in cupboard wet so would suggest washing them before use. Has so much potential if furniture was better....sofa and bed. Owners were friendly

We are sorry to hear of your experience and thank you for your feedback. We have done our very best to depict the property as accurately as possible in the description of the property and the photographs online, in order for all our guests to make an informed decision at the time of booking. All comments have led to action and we confirm that we replaced the mattress over the winter. The mattress was recommended by guest house guidance professionals for comfort and use, along with the new pillows. We do take all our feedback seriously and we thank you for letting us know your thoughts. Property Owner

  • "Only one problem the bed, it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in."

We did complain the owner supplied a quilted mattress protector, sadly the mattress was so old the springs were almost coming through the cover and it was a very small bed it was even too small for the base. I think one of the most important things about a hotel or holiday rental is the comfort

  • "This place is brilliant."

Quiet, and peacful. The cottage is perfect for couples and adequately stocked. If you like the country then this is for you. The owners are super friendly and once they have welcomed you, you never see them again. There is a tv, blue ray player with a selection of dvd's and also freesat. We will definately be returning. This place is a perfect for rcharging the batteries.

  • "While the web description and photographs of the property were entirely accurate, we were disappointed that the proximity of the owner's house to the holiday accommodation was not very explicit."

There was no privacy whatsoever which was disconcerting. It was clearly a converted garage. The bedroom on the upper floor was well provisioned and attractive. Everything else felt cramped and claustrophobic. We are small, slim people but anyone larger than us would have struggled to climb the stairs and get into the shower cubicle. The heating was sporadic, wi-fi intermittent, shower water temperature not consistent and kitchen equipment was very basic. We expected at least a little freezer capacity in the fridge but there was none. Overall, a disappointing short holiday. We left early.

Many thanks for your feedback, we have fed your comments back to the owner in order to maintain our property standards. Your views are as valued as your initial booking so that we can keep providing the best UK holiday experience. About the location

Lanark 12 miles; Peebles 18 miles; Edinburgh 30 miles; Glasgow 39 miles.

The town of Biggar on the edge of Scotland’s Southern Uplands is believed to have been inhabited since prehistoric times, and the present A702 is on the line of the former Roman road, linking the fort at Musselburgh with the Clyde Valley. The Normans followed in the 12th century and Biggar Burn was finally bridged, providing the first permanent crossing. The town today, with the market place at its centre, retains the linear layout showing the historical importance of the A702. It has many shops, cafes and bars and is particularly renowned for its collection of museums reflecting the history of notable individuals from the area. Visit the Moat Park Heritage Centre in a disused church for a flavour of Biggar’s history. With both the Southern Upland hills, the Borders town of Peebles and cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh all within easy reach, Biggar has something for everyone.
