  • “The best lodge we've ever stayed in ! Fantastic holiday !”
First of all the scenery, beaches & multitude of wildlife were just stunning. The beach at Sandyhills (5 minutes walk from lodge) is such a special place with caves shells rock pools & masses of room to walk your dogs (And Mothers on our holiday) Honestly on our last day & final walk I got wrong off my wife for jumping up & down on the little wooden bridge. It was the first time I'd ever seen a Kingfisher & I got a tad excited!!! The surrounding Towns & Villages are great but you must go to ...
The surrounding Towns & Villages are great but you must go to Dalbeattie Town Wood. It has 3 wonderful walks and is simply stunning. We walked around Barend Loch every day with our two Jack Russells (welcomed at the lodge) & marvelled at the peace and tranquility. The Lodge itself is perfect and very well equipped. If you book here you'll have everything you need & the beds are really comfy. We were so amazed with the welcome pack we received with cake wine and chocolates. A little touch but the owners made sure we had a great holiday and that started as soon as we walked through the door. Jo the owner is absolutely lovely and so welcoming My wife accidentally left a bag with some small items she'd purchased for Xmas which Jo has kindly posted on for us. The people of the area are like that so friendly and welcoming We didn't want to leave. We did though but we will return as we've all fallen in love with the place. In summary it's a wonderful well equipped lodge on a beautiful park surrounded by woods and close to a fantastic beach. We loved it & were lucky to have mostly good weather but even the rain was fine & only added to what was a perfect break in a beautiful place
