Beautiful location. Lovely welcome gift. Would highly recommend. Reviewed by AndreaMay 2022 "Beautiful lodge amid peaceful grounds." Very clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the outside balcony areas whilst sitting and enjoying the wildlife. We found the settees rather uncomfortable as they were very low and the leather cushions had no support. The higher chair was more to our taste. We were disappointed there was no terrestrial t.v downstairs though we could watch it on the smaller t.v. in the bedroom. We felt the stickers throughout the lodge were a bit over the top. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. Mother Nature provided the rest. Reviewed by JuneMay 2022 "Another perfect stay at Thistle Dubh." Wonderful property, our 4th stay. Only downside is having to leave. Thank you Jean and Rob for letting us "borrow" your lodge. Reviewed by DianneApr 2022 "Wow is all I can say!" The owner, Jean, left us a lovely welcome pack of wine, chocolates, posh biscuits, jam and dog treats. The lodge was spectacular with fantastic surroundings. She had thought of everything to make your life easier. In fact, the Lodge offered everything you'd have in your home and possibly more. It was spotlessly clean and the furniture and beds were very, very comfy. The local shop at Colvend offered a variety of food, with good prices and the staff couldn't do enough. You could choose your holiday to be one where you just relaxed, or adventurous, with cycling, walking or golfing. The bay is gorgeous with it's views. All in all a great place and a great holiday! Unfortunately on our last day. We were subjected to the racket of a chainsaw cutting trees back for nearly 8 hours solid. This work should be carried out in the less busy time of year. Not when we people pay a lot of money for a relaxing holiday. After all the site has been closed for long periods, due to Covid. I appreciate this work has to be done, but this was not just pruning. It was major tree cutting! Our last day was spoiled by this. The site & accommodation however, we’re spot on. This is our forth visit & will come back! I would say if you are looking for a great holiday I would highly recommend this lodge for cleanliness and comfort and those little extra’s, this is our second time there, it would have been the third time but had to cancel because of COVID 19, we will probably book again next year, so look no further than the Thistle Dubh lodge . We were able to take a breath and appreciate the beautiful scenery, the wildlife and the general tranquility of the place. Much needed in these difficult times. The lodge was its usual high standard of cleanliness, equipment and facilities, a credit to the owners. We took all the food we thought we needed, but were able to top up at the nearby village without any problems. Also managed to get coffee and cake at Rockcliffe and Kipford on our many walks.
