We were able to take a breath and appreciate the beautiful scenery, the wildlife and the general tranquility of the place. Much needed in these difficult times. The lodge was its usual high standard of cleanliness, equipment and facilities, a credit to the owners. We took all the food we thought we needed, but were able to top up at the nearby village without any problems. Also managed to get coffee and cake at Rockcliffe and Kipford on our many walks. We received an email in good time before we went giving us all the information we needed to stay safe and well.

This area of coastline, known as the Colvend and Southwick shore has many rugged cliffs and secret bays to tempt the visitor, and there are a number of footpaths to be explored. Cyclists have easy access to most of the 7stanes mountain bike complex, and the renowned Galloway Dark Sky Forest Park is a short drive away. The attractive beaches of Rockcliffe and Sandyhills provide an enjoyable family day out, plus the beaches of Mossyard and Sandgreen, which are popular with locals, are within a half hour drive away, and Kippford is a popular yachting and sailing centre.
