"A fantastic location for a week's break exploring Dumfries and Galloway."
Very comfortable accommodation in which, everything worked. Good WiFi, smartTV, cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, and well equipped kitchen. Right I'm the centre of Gatehiuse of Fleet, minutes walk from supermarket, shops, cafes, Mill, pubs and restaurants. Once inside, very quiet and comfortable location No allocated parking spot or garden, but even over a busy Easter weekend, we never had a problem parking on the street and there is a free car park opposite. There are parks and woodlands literally on the doorstep, so we did not miss a garden at all. Fantastic longer walks from from front door, so you needn't use the car at all if you don't want to go further afield. Very warm welcome and easy communication with the owner. Definitely recommended.
"Great accommodation, everything was perfect"
"The property was very well equipped and very comfortable."
The owners were very kind and helpful and any problems we had were dealt with very promptly and efficiently and they made it clear that we could contact them anytime if there were any further issues. We very much appreciated the welcome bottle of wine and biscuits on our arrival. Very well equipped cottage and everything has been thought about for a comfortable and relaxing stay.. No complaints but only one bit of advice would be to have easy instructions on view for working the television, heating and cooker..
"We were met by the owner who was helpful & showed us round."
The accommodation was comfortable and warm. We were surprised that we were not allowed to pull up outside the cottage to unload. This had to be done from the nearby road. We never had any problems parking nearby and there is also a car park close by but this is not really suitable for loading/unloading as it is across the road through the town. This is not something the owner can change as the yard belongs to someone else.
"Lovely, spotlessly cottage and location."
Breakfast opposite in the Galloway Lodge is a must.
"Fabulous place in a stunning and little visited area of Scotland."
"We got a lovely welcome from the owner of the cottage, she could not have been more helpful."
She provided us with basic provisions together with a bottle of wine and biscuits. The property was clean and comfortable and was the most well equipped cottage that we have stayed in. Gatehouse of Fleet is a charming and friendly village and a good base to visit the many things to do and see in the surrounding area.
"Our host was so lovely, the property was spotless and in the perfect location for exploring the area."
"Lovely cottage in a beautiful little town."
Just what we needed. Great host, very helpful. Will be back!
"Lovely welcome pack and a very clean and well appointed property."
Good contact with the owner. Great location for local amenities and also for exploring the fantastic scenery in the area.
"Thoroughly enjoyed my holiday."
The owners Joan & Colin were extremely helpful & friendly. Cottage was fabby & had everything I needed. Hope 2 go back next year.
"Size was better than expected, most facilities were also better."
Beds a bit soft and bathroom a bit tired, but generally very nice. Would stay again.
"Our host greeted us on the Main Street to show us our exact location and explained all about the property and the additional steps taken for our security in the current pandemic situation."
The flat is ideally situated in the heart of Gatehouse of Fleet, equidistant from the two pubs and restaurants and adjacent to a coffee shop and local supermarket. Very warm and comfortable, great facilities and very well supplied with hand gels and cleaning materials. A welcome gift of wine, milk and delicious shortbreads to go with the tea and coffee she had kindly supplied was most appreciated. It was ideal for us, a retired couple.
"Very nice accommodation that is ideally situated within the town."
To be fair it is a great place to base yourself for exploring the beautiful countryside nearby. The cafe across the road does the best bacon rolls ever. Best of all about the Brewery location is that some of the most lovely walks are a stones throw away really enjoyed the walks we had with the dogs.
Nice touches with wine and shortbread. Bed huge and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen although would have liked dishwasher. Only down side was builder waking us up at 7am every morning getting van out of yard then emptying rubbish outside bedroom window. Would still return though.
"Lovely accommodation and in the current circumstances of the pandemic, it was exceptionally clean and well prepared to make guests safe and welcome."
Situated in a great place.
"Well situated The Old Brewery was in the centre of Gatehouse of Fleet ."
Close to shops restaurants and pubs. The cottage was well furnished and very clean. Owner Joan was very helpful, would highly recommend . Thanks Bill & Marie
"Owner very accommodating"
"Excellent accommodation - very clean and comfortable."
"Lovely apartment in a great location."
A bottle of wine and some biscuits awaited us at arrival and the host was very knowledgeable about the local area and things to do. A great break.
"Lovely, spotless, cosy and comfortable cottage ."
Joan the owner was very welcoming.
"The Old Brewery cottage exceeded our expectations."
The cottage had everything we needed and we were provided with fresh milk, shortbread and wine on arrival. This place is spotlessly clean and the furnishings are so comfortable particularly the queen size bed. The owner is so friendly and available at all times if needed. We will certainly return to this little peaceful haven in the charming Gatehouse of Fleet.
"Holiday home lovely, clean and well equipt."
It's just neighbouring tradesmen wake you up every weekday morning at 740am, opening adjacent big gates on rollers, very noisy and isn't great for a relaxing holiday.
"There is a garage next to the cottage which opens at 8."
As the bedroom was on the ground floor it was a bit of a rude awakening. The cottage itself was lovely and clean and the owner had even left a bottle of wine and shortbread for our arrival which was a lovely touch.
"This is an excellent holiday cottage which is really well equipped."
It works really well for a couple or small family. It has excellent storage and has been really well thought out. The sofa bed in the lounge is very comfortable and easy to use. The owner had left lots of nice touches like wine, shortbread and fresh flowers. The owner is nearby and provides a lovely welcome and has lots of useful local information. The house is very central. Directly across the road is a lovely café and shop behind which is the local spar. Although no garden there is green space at the river, woodland walks and the local park are only a couple of minutes walk away. If you are here with kids then the Cream of Galloway outdoor play centre, Laggan Outdoor Centre and a range of pretty beaches are all within a short drive. We had a brilliant week and would definitely book again.
Location 10. Locals 10. When we arrived there was a bottle of wine and a packet of shortbread a thoughtful touch will definitely be back.
"The accommodation was clean and comfortable and had everything you would need."
The owners were on hand if needed and so welcoming. Gatehouse is a great place, dog friendly with lots of walks from the door. We only used the car once all week. Will definitely be visiting again.
"My husband and I have just had a great week in Gatehouse."
The Old Brewery Store is a fabulous appartment with a central location, large rooms, great shower and every facility you could ever need. They have thought of everything. Definately be back next year.
"Accommodation, Excellent walks through the woodland to the beach, Two dog friendly pubs both serving good food also two dog friendly cafes in the town."
"Great cottage with lots of walks for dog owners, natives very friendly and chatty, owners make you very welcome."
"There is no outside seating area at the old Brewery store, but plenty of outdoor seating at the 3 nearby pubs!"
"The cottage was just we wanted close to shops, walks and places to eat."
The owner was there to greet us when we arrived to show us round the property and explain things - it was also very nice and thoughtful to find milk and a bottle of wine waiting for us. The accommodation is small but excellently fitted out with everything we needed. We had to park on the main road but never had any problem parking just around the corner. Would certainly use the property again if going to Dumfries and Galloway as it is very well situated for exploring there.

About the location
GATEHOUSE OF FLEET
Kirkcudbright 8 miles; Newton Stewart 15 miles; Castle Douglas 15 miles.
Peaceful in its pastel colours, the small country town of Gatehouse of Fleet lies on the Solway Firth, in the midst of Dumfries & Galloway countryside, with good sandy beaches a five-minute drive away. The town was founded in the 1760s as a mill community, and today the nearby Mill on the Fleet - a visitor centre in a former bobbin mill - tells the tale of Gatehouse’s cotton-spinning days. Today, there are several shops in the town including a small supermarket, chemist, bank and Post Office, along with two book/gift shops, a kilt-making centre and two cafes. All four pubs in the town have restaurant facilities and welcome children. Castle Douglas, a 15-minute drive away, offers an extensive range of shops, Threave Gardens and boating on Carlingwark Loch.
