For a spot of history Drumlanrig Castle is an excellent choice, situated in stunning country grounds and a category A listed building.

For further attractions, venture into the market town of Dumfries for an extensive range of attractions, some of which include Dumfries Museum.

Set in an 18th century windmill, you can gaze through the Camera Obscura for some far-reaching views.

Choose to dine in one of the traditional Scottish pubs or restaurants if you don’t fancy cooking one evening, and explore the local stores to grab any necessities.

Look forward to exploring this rural area and join one of its nearby walking or cycling trails for a long wander with your pet in the morning.

The quiet village of Thornhill is in the Mid Nithsdale area of Dumfries and Galloway in southern Scotland, and is an ideal place for a relaxing break.
