    Exceptional cottage just where we needed to be, comfortable and everything was fantastic, we had milk tea coffee left for us and even a welcome gift of chocolate, miniature whiskey and wine and the owner had left us a postcard with a welcoming note on it, we will definitely be going back

This is a charming mid terrace single storey cottage dating from the 18th century in the village of Broughton in the Scottish Borders.

Kintyre Cottage conveniently sits in the heart of the village, making this property perfect for a relaxing retreat.

Broughton is a charming and friendly village in Tweeddale, part of the Scottish Borders.

This is an unspoilt area perfect for walking, cycling, fishing, sightseeing and relaxing.

The village has close associations with the author John Buchan, and the 22km walk the John Buchan Way runs between Broughton and Peebles.

On the edge of the village is Broughton Ales, Scotland?s first initiated microbrewery.

The cosy village tearoom with licensed bar is just a few doors away.

The attractive border towns of Biggar and Peebles are close by and both provide a good range of dining, shopping and tourist attractions.

Edinburgh with its wide appeal is less than an hour?s drive away to the north east, whilst just over an hour to the north west takes you into the heart of Glasgow.

Kintyre Cottage provides a perfect getaway in the heart of the Scottish countryside whilst providing easy access to Scotland?s greatest cities.

A delightful, rural village set around 70 miles north of the border in beautiful Tweeddale. Broughton is a lovely little village, it has a well-stocked village shop, an art gallery and a delightful licensed tearoom/bistro. There are also facilities to play tennis and bowls and fishing permits can be bought at the shop. Check out the Broughton Ales Brewery for award-winning Scottish beers - they do free delivery. As well as the essential facilities, Broughton benefits from incredible surrounding scenery with rolling hills and fields making for a wonderful backdrop. Nearby is Dawyck Botanic Garden home to Scotland's largest collection of trees covering over 65 acres, or why not treat yourself to a day of pampering at Stobo Castle Spa. There are two well-stocked towns close by in Peebles and Biggar, both offer golf courses, and a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants for you to choose from. Peebles has a wealth historic buildings and is home to the John Buchan Story whose family home is in Broughton, whilst Biggar hosts a range of museums and a world famous puppet theatre.
