We go to about 5 to 6 cottages a year and this is the best , the surroundings is just perfect . There is a barn conversion going on next to you but had no noise are trouble from it what so ever .

  • "Outstanding cottage, really well equipped with everything you could need, stunning location."

Lovely owners. Quiet and great for wildlife watching. Great for several couples or a family as lots of space and you can almost have 2 separate areas. Walks and cycling from the door, highly recommended. Already booked to go back!

  • "Cottage very comfortable and clean and inviting but the water system was awkward to negotiate at times."

Some minor issues like absence of draining board and a wooden cutting board in the kitchen. Apart from that a very nicely set up cottage. Extraordinary access to view some rare wildlife. Close cottage environs well laid out and thoughtfully designed. Low-slung cars beware of pot holes driving up to the cottage.

Beautiful well kept comfy house and stunning gardens. The owner, Keith, is easy to contact, replies quickly and is very helpful. Water system takes a bit of getting used to, but fine as long as you remember to keep the pump going! Absolutely loved our stay and hope to return sometime.

Grounds are amazing with wonderful wildlife from small garden birds to buzzards and owls, pine martins, deers, foxes and a shy red squirrel, great to enjoy peace and quiet with just the bird song to listen to. Lovely fire pit area to watch stars sparkle away whilst listening to the owls, Meet both the owners one day and both are very friendly and very helpful . Loads of paths from the cottage and many more in Glentrool about 5-10 min drive away, many waterfalls at the Wood of Cree

Comfortable and well furnished, this is a perfect place to relax in peace and tranquillity and enjoy the abundant wildlife around the property. Our family of three adults and the dog had a brilliant week but the accommodation would work equally well for families or couples and is well placed for trips to the Galloway Forest, a host of visitor attractions and the coast.

  • "Very comfortable cottage, the view is fantastic."

No traffic noises which makes this cottage unique. My only quibble is that it was heartbreaking to watch the swallows try over and over again to get into their nesting place only to find it has been boarded up. What a shame, they have flown thousands of miles to come back!

So glad you enjoyed the cottage, thank you for your feedback and for staying at Corrafeckloch. We do hope the swallows have found the new nest box we have put up for them. They just need to relocate a little way further to the barn behind the cottage as we certainly want then to find a home with us. Property Owner

  • "A stunning cottage and as secluded as it gets."

True peace and quiet. The stars have never looked as bright as they do at Corrafeckloch Cottage. The cottage is beautiful. Everything has been thought of. The restoration of the cottage could not possibly be improved. What an amazing job the owners have done. The snug between the upstairs bedrooms especially a highlight for me. A place to read a book, sip a cuppa, and look out into true wilderness. Bliss. We had visits from many chaffinches, woodpeckers, red squirrels and pine martens! My family saw many of these animals for the first time, from the comfort of the cottage. The other thing I'd like to call out? The cottage is pristinely clean. Clearly, a lot of attention to detail and love has been paid to this cottage, and it has truly paid off. We didn't want to leave! Really nice things to do nearby are to visit the Crafty Distillery, which is a great if you're into your gins. We really enjoyed that. Also, Heads of Ayr Farm Park is a brilliant day out.

Thank you for your feedback and for staying at Corrafeckloch. We will pass on your positive comments to our cleaning team. Property Owner

It has been beautifully restored with everything needed for a comfortable stay. It was ideal for us because it was isolated and with so much land to enjoy the nature, yet it is near enough to a town to get supplies. I spoke to our host and she obviously really cared about us enjoying our stay.

House was spotlessly clean and an abundance of information provided about things to do and see. The house is quite remote and limited phone and wifi, but it makes for a lovely retreat. The access road is fairly long but actually in very good condition and no concerns taking our car along it. Would certainly recommend and hope to return again sometime in the future.

The drive through Galloway forest was also spectacular. Cottage was very clean, comfortable & warm. Would suggest that guests bring a lot of bird seed or buy lots whilst there. They ate a bag a day. We aren’t familiar with birds but there were some stunning ones to look at. Expect a daily red squirrel visitor. Christine, one of the owners, is lovely & happy to help with any queries. The only negative is that WiFi isn’t very good but we were pre-warned about this so can’t complain. Would highly recommend this cottage to those in need of peace, relaxation & requiring stunning views. Great place to go to escape people & covid.

  • "We stayed in May and like someone else has since said in a review the forestry lorries drive very fast it was really worrying to be walking on the track or even worse meeting then head on - on a narrow track in the car , we found the track very difficult for our very low sports car as there were huge potholes on the forestry track to the cottage we had no idea it would be like that ."

We also wasn't keen on the cctv but only because it made us wonder if we was safe staying there as its in the middle of nowhere. The wildlife was lovely , the cottage was comfy but a non slip bath mat in the showers would be good . Personally we wouldn't go there again due to the forestry lorries and pot holes !

In fact the pictures do not even come close to doing this lovely home justice! Its cozy but spacious., and has everything you could need to make your stay marvelous. Woke up to bird song, saw the owls as they fly past the house and even the odd red squirrel. You have almost no need to leave (but the closest town is definitely worth a visit - Newton Stewart). The property has walks to explore around the pond and the woodland. We had the best holiday we have had in years and will certainly be back - I am sure our little dog is already missing the fire and meandering through the woods! Cannot recommend highly enough.

Spacious, beautifully decorated and homely. The setting is beautiful, to have such lovely views, a loch and walks for the dog on your doorstep all to yourself is wonderful. We didn't venture out much as we would normal do as we really didn't feel the need to staying in such a lovely place.
