  • "It's a lovely cottage,with everthing you could wish for, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking of a holiday in dumfries and Galloway."

    My only negative is that the woodwork inside needs a bit of T L C like bathroom door not fitting properly and other small things.

  • "We have just returned from this lovely holiday home."

    It was like home from home. the owners have thought of everything. We had an on line shop delivered from Tesco. The setting is beautiful on a park just up the hill from the beach. Also Dalbettie woods and bike trails all within easy reach of the lodge. We will be returning to this lovely holiday lodge.

Thistle Dubh ("Doo"), a charming, detached wooden lodge situated on a holiday park in Barend, near Colvend and Sandyhills Bay, on Scotland's beautiful Solway Coast.

Well-equipped throughout, this Colvend cottage is ideal for a family or group of friends wishing to enjoy a break close to the coast and within easy reach of many other attractions.

This Solway Coast cottage has three bedrooms, including one that has an en-suite shower room and a balcony offering open views.

There is a well-equipped, fitted kitchen and a cosy sitting room with a dining area at this cottage near Colvend, providing an ideal place to relax after a busy day at the beach, walking in the hills, or a round of golf.

To the rear of the cottage is a private decked area, plus a communal lawned area surrounding the property.

Within the holiday park is a restaurant and bar, as well as free access to a fishing loch, there is a deer park next door and 16 golf courses within 2 miles.

The nearby village of Colvend provides a shop and a seasonal restaurant, and the town of Dalbeattie offers all other necessary facilities.

Cyclists can indulge in the 7stanes complex of trails, which are nearby, and a short drive brings you to the delightful beach of Rockcliffe.
