  • "I cannot praise this accommodation and our personal experience at The Mews Flat highly enough."

We were a family of 4 adults and 3 children, plus we had visiting hairdressers and a make-up artist on the day of the wedding. There was stacks of room for us all, including extra people who were just visiting for hair and make-up appointments. The beds were supremely comfortable, as were the sofas in the sitting room. The kitchen was equipped with everything anyone could possibly need. In short: perfect.

There are many thoughtful touches and the ground floor is ideal to store and get rid of your outdoor gear, very useful in the rainy week we experienced. With great walks and gardens to enjoy and explore Dalswinton is a great location. Our host was very welcoming and made us feel very much at home, thank you!

The property was comfortable with good amenities. It was very quiet. Beautiful country walks around the local area. A printed map with information was provided that took us along the River With and seeing one of the last flat packed churches in the UK! Our host was very friendly, accommodating and close by if we needed anything. An easy 15 minute drive into Dumfries. Especially enjoyed seeing the newborn calves, a definite bonus! A perfect get away.

Time constraints limited us to one full day, on which it rained, however during the stay we had really pleasant walk on the estate around the small loch and a drive into Dumfries and surrounding sites of interest. We can definitely recommend the property, it's location and the area.

Super setting and environment, ie private estate. Presented in a spotlessly clean, neat, warm and most comfortable way. Accomodation is however on two levels in former stable block with other residents and business (not an issue). Primary living space is on the first floor so there is possibly some restriction on access, which is up staircase. Ideal spot and location for outdoor sport enthusiast - even has shower room for pets! Planning to visit again.

or 12th. week there....all fishing related. From an angling point of view it is a real shame that YOU now let the property Friday to Friday and not Sunday to Sunday as it always used to be. In Scotland it is illegal to fish for salmon on a Sundays so we effectively lost a salmon fishing day. Previously we would travel to and from THE MEWS on a Sunday and enjoy a full 6 days salmon fishing. I feel that future salmon fishing folk would MUCH prefer a Sunday to Sunday let. THE MEWS was as good as it ever was. My last visit here was about 3 years ago.
