About the location

Lanark 12 miles; Biggar 18 miles.

The village of Douglas is on the south bank of the stunning Douglas Water. A great touring base, the village sits on the A70 road linking Ayr, on the west coast of Scotland, to Edinburgh on the east and is around 12 miles south west of Lanark. Draped in history, the village boasts the corner tower of Douglas Castle, the only remnants of the 14th century seat of the Lords of Douglas. The ruins of St Brides Church are well worth a visit too, also dating from the late 1300s. With a range of shops, cafes and restaurants in the village, Douglas has something for everyone.
