"Property was fantastic yet again."
Only thing that was a little disappointing was have a a cow pad just outside the front door and a car had driven through so must have been there when the cleaning staff had been.
One suggestion and in no way a critism is that maybe having a garden broom available so the leaves around the outside table could be swept away and the table would have been easier to access especially since we had my 86 year old mother who has to be careful when walking.
Amazing property and gutted it is now showing as not available to book anymore. Been here twice and would have loved to have returned again

"Wow what a property."
We spent two weeks at Glenview the pictures do not do the property justice as was a bit worried about the open plan kitchen lounge but the area was very large and you did not feel you were sitting in the kitchen. The owners had thought of absolutely everything in the kitchen including egg cups and tongs which most don’t. The property was very clean, beds were really comfortable, lovely bedding and lovely large towels. I would point out that it says it has a tumble dryer but there wasn’t one. The property would have been enhanced by a new sofa, although it looks ok it has been well used and is so uncomfortable and larger TV’s as the rooms are so big they are difficult to watch in the cold dark evenings. The 13 acre grounds are a photographers paradise. I built real trust with the red squirrels and got some fantastic photographs. There was deer just roaming through, a couple of foxes, badgers and couple of tawny owls calling. The only point I would raise the current owner has sold the property and hoping the new owners rent it out as a holiday let. I hope if they do, that they will consider NOT letting dogs stay at the property. It seems such a shame with all the wonderful wildlife that the wildlife is not able to wander around with the fear of being disturbed by dogs. It saddened me to read a review from someone that said it was nice to see a water vole in the pond and then in their next comment they mentioned how their dog loved jumping around in the pond! I would highly recommend this property

Words cannot describe the vast stunning location it's set in. It's like having your own personal estate!
The property is beautifully kept, beds lovely and comfortable. Facilities outside to hose your dogs down, which we definitely needed for the heatwave week we spent at this idyllic spot.
We saw deer right across from the cottage which was a stunning sight.
Probably the best holiday cottage I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in a few over the years. Just remember to bring mosquito repellent because in the summer they will eat you alive!

Great location as well if you want to get away from it all this is the place top draw.
Thanks for allowing a third dog much appreciated. The only down side spent the first morning picking up 25+ Dog Poops from previous weeks occupant (must have been a big dog). We all loved it. Put out the trail cameras picked up Badgers, Fox at the cottage, venture up the track to the Deer Park to encounter the deer and Stags plus a Red Squirrel. Lots of birds of prey. If you want somewhere in nature to unwind I can not recommend highly enough.

"Glen View nothing to say other than it was Perfect."
It is the second time we have stayed there, the cottage itself is spacious and cosy especially at this cold, dark time of year when fire was lit. The kitchen was ideal for cooking for four of us as my daughter came for weekend we celebrated her boyfriends birthday and Halloween. Then settling in for rest of holiday just two of us and two Dobermans, who loved the freedom of the surrounding garden and walks through Forrest’s and up the track. We where fortunate to see some of the wildlife and hear owls at night, there are lots to do in surrounding areas, but it was just great to relax and recoup. we cannot wait to return.

Words and pictures just cannot compare. We had the most relaxing holiday ever and were blessed with all wildlife and weather. This was one of these holidays where a week is just not enough. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to share this little part of your amazing property and meeting the owner Andrew was really a pleasure being such a humble and personable person. "What an incredible place!"
Truly out in the middle of nowhere, completely isolated by a private woodland.
The cottage is bigger than it looks on the pictures, with a very comfortable and large living room with a log burner. Very well equipped kitchen with everything you could need for a big meal, and underfloor heating downstairs keeps it warm. Super comfy beds.
The cottage is on the edge of a dark skies park, so you can get a wonderful view of the stars on a clear night.
As long as you're comfortable with very narrow lanes, access won't be a problem. The tracks are reasonably well maintained so even a little car won't have an issue if you drive carefully. (Wouldn't advise a very low sports car though!) The driveway leading to the cottage is actually tarmac and in brilliant condition.
The only thing I'd let people know about is the water - it comes from a borehole onsite, and while it's safe to drink it has a strong mineral taste that some people may not like. If going back I'd take a Brita filter or plenty of squash!
We absolutely loved our time here, going for walks around Loch Trool, Almorness point and Caerlaverock castle, and food in Castle Douglas. We'll be going back again!

"Glen View in one word "Perfect"."
The photo gallery is an accurate representation of this superb cottage but it doesn't convey the spaciousness and comfort afforded to guests. The cottage is stunning. Add on the exceptional high standard of equipment and finish coupled with the top quality bedding and towels and you have the perfect holiday accommodation.
Then there is the location which is unique. Effectively you have a huge, neat garden area surrounded by your own private forest. Venture further and the forest gives way to moorland and fields. My dogs love it too. This is the most pet friendly property we have ever visited. The conservatory provides the ideal space for dogs to sleep at night safely and in comfort.
We all loved our time at Glen View and will definitely return.

Due to the increasing worry of covid we spent the whole week here just relaxing and exploring the surrounding wood and land with our GSD, instead of our planned trips out to explore further a field in Scotland using this as a base.

"This was not a holiday, it was a nightmare."
The cottage was fabulous with everything catered for. However due to the recent bad weather which I appreciate the owners are not responsible, the track to get to the cottage was virtually impassable. We only have a small car, we had to go through very deep and very long pools of water. I am disabled and cannot walk unaided outside. I was terrified that we would get stuck. You really need a 4 wheel drive or SUV to get to cottage in this weather. We should have been told how bad the track was. We would not have gone if we had known this. On the day after arrival there was a heavy snowfall, you could not make out which was the road to get out. My husband went out with the dogs and saw that the pools were much worse, so we were housebound that day. Things did not improve, no mobile signal and no wifi. We were constantly looking at weather forecasts. Had to go out the following day to get logs and provisions. Again was very anxious about getting back due to ice. We had had enough by the Wednesday and left Thursday morning 2 days early. You really should make it clear that this track is not suitable for small cars, also whoever is responsible needs to get some hardcore and repair this track or else the cottage should not be let out in the winter. Very disappointed, the cottage is lovely but would not return because of the track, the numerous potholes, and the location which makes it difficult to even get a loaf of bread, petrol, logs etc

Extremely clean. I would highly recommend an enclosed outdoor area for the dogs to be left safely For us pet lovers. ( it’s unrealistic to take dogs everywhere with you and your not allowed to leave them unattended in the cottage ) So we did get a bit stuck there and have to rotate our trips. But other than that, outstanding! We will be back thank you

"Fabulous cottage, really well equipped, beautiful setting."
We didn't realise there was an upstairs bathroom so that was a bonus. Spotlessly clean and the furnishings are all high quality. I would say, we hired a car (SUV type) after seeing that someone had mentioned the track to the cottage, and we were really glad we did, as it is a very bumpy track & low cars would struggle I feel. But we wish we were still there! A very peaceful relaxing holiday. Also, we went to escape the fireworks with our dog, and the only sound we heard at night was owls - bliss!
