“Cottage very clean and comfortable.”

Everything there for a good holiday. Grand views and lovely sheltered patio to enjoy the sunshine. Only small niggle is that because wifi and mobile reception are poor a landline was there for guests use, but it was for incoming calls only: advance notice after of its number (after booking) would have been helpful. Otherwise no complaints and we will be back.

“The Chalet itself was comfortable and relaxing, a little outdated in furnishings but gives it a nice cottage feeling very homely a perfect little getaway we only had one issue which was no phone which was worrying incase of an emergency, as when booking stated was a courtesy phone to use in evenings and weekends but on arrival we found it was for incoming calls only.”

.and with no mobile phone signal was a bit daunting, Speaking with the owner sadly others had abused this privledge and spoilt it for others but all in all we managed fine.. So much so we will definitely be rebooking for next year such a Beautiful, Tranquil and Relaxing Holiday

“The most peaceful holiday I have had”

The cottage was exactly as described. Went out of the door and we could see the sea and within one minutes walk you were there. A beautiful position and the few people we saw at this time of the year were very friendly. There is no signal for phone or computer but we found a spot just up the road that we could use both. I am not religious but the area is very tranqil as I believe it all started in this region

“A great little find”

Very impressed with the property. A small problem with the t v was quickly solved by the lovely young lady who lived in the village. More than adequately equipped with every thing necessary. Handy for the pub on the harbour which served good beer and food. Great for walks with a dog and a good base for exploring further afield.

“Holiday cottage”

The cottage was very nice, everything we needed for the week, warm and comfortable, being so close to the sea was a bonus we hadn't expected and we were in a good place to travel round sight seeing, and then take a stroll before it got dark with the sea on one side, we could walk from the cottage and leave the car safe and sound.

“lovely quiet break”

chalet was everything as described, lovely view out to sea from the verandah, and couple of minutes walk to local pub which was really friendly [nice meals and real ale]. we had a few walks around the area, very attractive part of scotland. plenty of interesting places to visit not too far by car. friendly owner called in to see if we were ok [hello diane], would recommend the area to anyone and may come back again next year!

“the one you have to come back for”

This has been one of the nicest places that we have stayed chalet has every thing you need or want for a holiday ,it is clean comfortable and superbly situated. The local pub is fantastic, warm and friendly people made us feel right at home. The views are fantastic can not rate it high enough.

“restful”

we have been going to Isle of Whitorn for over 30 yrs.It is lovely and peaceful, not good for families though as nothing much to do on the isle. The bungalow we stayed in was very well equiped, beds comfortable and nice and clean. The bungalow could do with a wooden garden seat outside the french window as there was a lovely view .Also new dining chairs ,as they were a bit on the wobbly side.

“Peacefull warm and scenic, August holiday with our dog.”

Arrival to departure went very well. We loved the location and found all comforts at hand. Shopping was a decent trip however the town of Newton Stewart was very lovely.

One of our delightful Laigh Isle cottages, this modern detached cottage is near the charming fishing village of Isle of Whithorn.

Only a short stroll from the sea, this Isle of Whithorn cottage is ideal for a couple or a small family group.

All ground floor and tastefully decorated throughout, this Isle of Whithorn cottage has two bedrooms, a double and a single, a well equipped kitchen and a comfortably furnished sitting room with a dining area and French doors affording open views to the coast and the village.

Outside this Isle of Whithorn cottage is a patio and open lawned garden which leads down to the coast, an ideal place to relax and soak up the tranquil atmosphere.

The historic village of Isle of Whithorn is a traditional fishing village and the spectacular coastline can be explored in both directions.

Two hotels offer food and drink and a chance to unwind after a day's exploring.

The south west of Scotland offers a mix of history, beach and coastal walks, forest walks and cycle trails as well as delightful towns like Dumfries and Wigtown, Scotland's book town, where you can lose yourself amongst the many bookshops and cafes.

A delightful Isle of Whithorn cottage and the ideal base to explore and also relax.

ISLE OF WHITHORN

Newton Stewart 20 miles.

The picturesque village of the Isle of Whithorn, though no longer an island, nestles around its natural harbour on the southernmost tip of the Machars Peninsula, designated as an outstanding conservation area. The village has a long history of seafaring and trade, which dates back to the Vikings. The arrival in 397 of Ninian, Scotland's first missionary and saint, is thought to be the beginning of Scotland's Christian history, and the remains of the 13th century chapel can still be seen at the end of the harbour. A short, gentle climb will take you to the distinctive white tower - the Cairn - which has been a mariner's landmark for close on two centuries. Today the harbour is popular with visiting leisure sailors and with local boats fishing for crabs, lobsters and scallops. The area is steeped in history with numerous sites ranging from Mesolithic and Iron Age forts, standing stones and 'cup and ring’ markings, an 11th century chapel and castles from the era of Robert the Bruce. Wigtown, Scotland's first book town, can be reached within a short drive, and has over a dozen book shops in which one can easily lose an hour or two! With beaches, forests, golf courses, gardens and churches to visit, this is an ideal base for discovering this corner of Scotland.
