  • "Idyllic location and views."

Loved the farm animals all around with the playful lambs. Had everything you could need inside the house. Lots to do all around. Our favourite place was Portpatrick. Would go again tomorrow.

Quiet and peaceful with the best views we’ve ever had. Definitely one to return to.

  • "Fabulous little cottage and a beautiful location, with amazing views out to the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse."

The cottage is comfortable and cosy with all the facilities you need, a real home from home (and the kitchen is being fully replaced now too, so will be even nicer) The peaceful, quiet location was simply perfect, with lots of lovely walks and places of interest to explore. Inn nearby provides fantastic food and definitely requires a visit. Sunday lunch highly recommended. Enclosed garden perfect for my dog and wonderful to watch the sun set on the patio in the evening. Enjoyed my stay so much I've already booked to return next year! Thank you Jackie....

  • "This is without doubt the most comfortable and well-equipped cottage I have stayed in (garlic press, olive stoner, tin opener, proper sharp knives, kitchen scales, you name it)."

The location is also quite wonderful, whether you just want to gaze out to sea or whether you want to take long walks around the Machars and the Rhins. It's really quiet, which is what I was looking for. The wifi is excellent which is essential for me as this was partly a working holiday. The one thing I'd say (and I say this about every holiday place) is that there isn't quite enough light to read or write by. One good Anglepoise lamp which can be moved around would solve the problem. I contacted the owners to ask how to turn the heating down and they couldn't have been more helpful. This fortnight was as near perfect as it gets in this life!

  • "The property it’s self is a gorgeous cottage, very homely very warm and welcoming with amazing views."

And I would recommend this cottage to friends and family and would love to return again some day. However the only negative point is due to the cleaner not been up to standard, I don’t expect to walk into a rental and have to clean crumbs of the benches and take dirty foil out of a tray that was left in the oven from previous tenants. There was coffee stains and food marks on the kitchen door and coffee stains on the sitting room door which I had to clean off. The shower had not been cleaned or rubbed down for many weeks and the shower hose was absolutely disgustingly dirty and getting to the point if left would of rusted.

Everything you need is there, comfy beds. But the real showstopper is the location. Wildlife everywhere, the peace is amazing and the views beautiful. We had a wonderful week and the kids are already begging to go back.

  • "Really enjoyed our week at the Craws Nest ,loved the location and the views over the sea ."

Great to come back after a day out to just unwind and relax at the cottage. Fortunately we had good weather so could sit outside take in the views and listen to the sheep in the fields . Amenities were good with comfy beds and everything we needed in the kitchen , even a washing machine and drier which my wife tested out . Would certainly recommend and hope to visit again sometime.

If there was a hand rail at both front and back steps would have been helpful. Having visited Craws Nest for 29years I look forward to the peace and quiet. The weather was perfect no rain warm and sunny.

Comfortable and cosy for the bad weather days or for just having relaxed times indoors, had the weather not been so windy it would have been great to have used the front patio more with the great views over the bay and down to the village of Stair Haven. All in all we had a lovely holiday using this as our home from home and we look forward to coming again.

  • "I hadn't realised from the description how remote the cottage is."

The road is single track and through a farm. However, the views are beautiful and it is peaceful. The cottage had not been dusted and the toilet in the main bathroom had not been cleaned. The kitchen was well equipped. The cottage was cosy and warm. The grassed area was mown whilst we were there and the grass verges were kept tidy. We visited many places during our stay and will return to the area as there is still plenty to see and do.

  • "Great holiday lovely place to relax."

Views are amazing. Could do with a grab rail in the bath for when taking a shower and also maybe a hand rail at both the front and back door as the steps are very deep. Would recommend and would go again, I actually looked to book for next year but it had already been booked on the dates I am available. Will keep looking though.

  • "This was our first time at Craws Nest Cottage and what an amazing experience it was."

The cottage itself sits just behind a small quiet farm house. The view from the windows were breathtaking. There was ample equipment for a family of 5 and all the comforts to go with it. On arrival, the cottage was clean and tidy with fresh flowers on display. There is also plenty of space to park multiple cars if needed on the property. The town of Stranraer was perfect for all your shopping needs along with petrol stations if needed. There is a lovely local shop called William Loch that has an amazing selection of local gin and whisky amongst other alcohols at a very reasonable price. Very helpful and friendly staff too. (41-43, George St, Stranraer DG9 7RJ) The drive was very easy and only takes 10 minutes in the car. This is definitely a place/cottage we will be staying at again.
