We stayed here for a week and we were so lucky with the weather. The garden is amazing its completely dog friendly our doggie didn't want to go home. The house was spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchen. The wooden summerhouse is a fabulous addition we sat for many hours watching the red kites coming and going. We are going to re book for next year.

“Lovely cottage in a beautiful location nice and peaceful.”- Mr Dobson, August 2020
“An absolute gem of a cottage, well laid out, a comfy bed and the grounds are perfect for our dog to be off lead - she had a fantastic time.”
We were very lazy this visit and didn't wander far but looking forward to returning and exploring the local walks. Castle Douglas is just a short drive to stock up on food and the local fish and chip shop (Moores) is excellent!- Mrs Wilkinson, February 2020
“For us the actual setting and location of this property was perfect.”
Fairly isolated and in beautiful surroundings.- Mr Green, October 2019
“Lovely spotless cottage in beautiful surroundings”- Ms McGregor, September 2019
“Second time this year at this cottage so we knew what to expect.”
It was every bit as good as the first time!- Mrs Eastwood, August 2019
“Excellent cottage in a super location.”
Really special to be able to watch Red Kites flying overhead from the cottage.- Mrs Blakeley, July 2019
“Gamepark Wood was a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings and the garden was vast and our Border Collie loved it too.”
It was so peaceful their and bird life was amazing. The only negative were the beds, the mattresses were very uncomfortable, but apart from that we had a lovely holiday and visited many surrounding towns and did lots of walking. Would recommend this cottage to family and friends- Mrs Garside, June 2019
“Loved the garden, it was great for the dog.”
The property was very nice but the beds were very uncomfortable and both myself and my husband had bad backs by the end of the week. The freezer ran none stop. Until it stopped freezing completely, in spite of the motor continuing to run! Not surprising as the sun was beating down on it through the laundry room window. It probably would be a good idea to relocate it in the kitchen. On the whole we liked the property and the location.- Mrs Davy, May 2019
“Gamepark wood was absolutely wonderful so peaceful and quite and warm and cosy everything you needed was there summer house was great with telly and games in there is also a red kite feeding station just yards away ayre beach was fantastic some cafes were dog friendly garden was secure enough to allow our dog off the lead our American Bulldog looked so tiny out there but he loved it so much that he never wanted to come in.”
Thank you to the owners and sykes for a wonderful time hope to return again soon.- Miss Lawton, May 2019
“Good location set in the countryside with excellent facilities.”
Nearest shops and pubs about 15 minutes away in Castle Douglas.- Mr Thompson, May 2019
“The cottage was everything you could hope for.”
Clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need and fantastic views. The icing on the cake, however, was the vast enclosed garden and summerhouse. If you have a pet (or children for that matter) this is brilliant. Our dog did not want to come in and, although normally wanting 2 good walks per day, was really happy with us throwing her ball for her in the garden instead of a second walk. In fact, she got more exercise this way. We all loved it (and the kites were another added bonus!)- Mrs Eastwood, April 2019
“Great holiday lovely cottage peaceful huge garden which our dog loved kites ...”
Great holiday lovely cottage peaceful huge garden which our dog loved kites buzzards and other birds overhead all day booked again for next June can't wait- Mr Langley, March 2019
“Had a brilliant time at this lovely cottage, the weather didn't stop us going out and about, plenty to do in the area, booked again for next year.”- Mrs Duncan, March 2019

“Owners were on hand for any questions or queries we had.”
Fantastic cottage and fantastic facilities. Thank you- Mrs Sallabank, October 2018
“A very comfortable cottage with everything we needed.”
Ideal garden for the dog to run around. Also loved the unique woodwork in the house.- Mrs Gough, October 2018
“Lovely clean cottage, more than needed facilities available to use in cottage, comfy beds and sofas.”
Beautiful, large garden. Lots of space inside and out. Large parking area. Friendly, helpful owner. Lovely quiet retreat.- Miss Lewis, September 2018
“Lovely location and cottage, really nice time spent relaxing.”- Mr Bayes, August 2018
“We had a wonderful holiday, the only things i would like to say is the burns in the bottom of the bath, had we bathed and not showered, and we found the beds uncomfortable, but other than that the cottage was beautiful.”- Mrs Knight, August 2018
“Lovely comfortable cottage in glorious countryside.”
If you want to get away from it all this is the place. If you are into bird watching there is Red Kite feeding station just down the road.- Mr Hefford, June 2018
“The property was immaculately presented and very well equipped.”
Fantastic space in the garden and very secure for pets. The sight of red kites overhead everyday was wonderful. The location is ideal to explore the area. Castle Douglas is just down the road and has everything you need to accommodate your stay. We would suggest the owners trim the wardrobe base in the master bedroom, it protrudes into the walkway to the bed and we found it to be a trip hazard. A minor gripe but in no way detracting from a lovely cottage.- Mr Wilce, June 2018
“THE place to go if you want to see Red Kites!”
As soon as we drove through the gates they were circling above! The cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable and the garden was huge with open land all around with plenty of wildlife to spot. A lovely, quiet area of Scotland with lots of forests and lochs to explore and nearby Castle Douglas with plenty of shops and good food.- Mr Green, June 2018
“An ideal cottage for family holiday or just to relax take in the wild life or just use for a base for a walking holiday.”- Mr Gordon, May 2018
“Another great week at this beautiful cottage.”
Location is superb and the property is excellent if you have dogs. Only thing I’d suggest is that as the property doesn’t have a washer dryer, that there is a clothes horse available to help with drying clothes, as we can’t depend on hanging the washing outside. Pegs for hanging wet jackets/waterproofs in outside porch or at back door would be Ideal. I know there are pegs for coats in the utilities room with the washing machine but we never use that door as the drive is at opposite side of house. These are only small suggestions which would make a bidg difference when the weather isn’t so kind and would help prevent wet dirty clothes being carried through the house. Other than that we can’t fault the place or the owners who obviously take great care of this lovely cottage. We’ve been 3 times now and will be back for another stay- Mcdonald, April 2018
“A wonderful get away from it all cottage.”
Third visit for us because of the great outside space for our dog.- Mrs Mcdonagh, March 2018
“The cottage was amazing would live there forever so relaxing cant say enough ...”
The cottage was amazing would live there forever so relaxing cant say enough about the cottage it was wonderful hope the next one will be as fab x- Mrs Paterson, March 2018
“Great cottage.”- Mr Shinn, October 2017
“Lovely Cottage, excellent grounds.”
we thoroughly enjoyed it and would have no hesitation recommending it. We have been to four other locations in the past this was far the best.- Mr Taylor, June 2017
“This Cottage exceeded all expectations as far as cleanliness and the facilities available to us.”
The Cottage is situated in a lovely area with lots of places to visit.Very handy for the Red Kite station which is certainly worth a visit.- Mr Lister, June 2017
“Gamepark wood cottage was immaculately clean on arrival and the fresh milk, tea, coffee and chocolates was a touch of class by the owners.”
The cottage had everything you needed for your stay. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, cutlery and other utensils. A lovely warm cottage with the added bonus of a wood burning stove. Overall the cottage was of a very high standard and I would highly recommend it to other holiday makers.- Mrs Humble, October 2016
“Cottage had everything you could need for a good holiday.”
Very comfortable and nice touches from owner. Great location as well. Good for dogs as very secure large garden. Didn't use summerhouse because of weather but looked lovely.- Mr Harris, September 2016
“We loved the space this cottage had to offer.”
The garden was very well laid out and perfect for dog owners. The summer house was lovely although the music system didn't seem to work but it certainly didn't spoil our holiday, just to note. The cottage was very well stocked and the only thing which we missed was a pizza tray but again, we managed without. We were very lucky with the weather and managed to dry our washing outdoors but a clothes horse would be a good idea if it had been wet. A hairdryer wouldn't go amiss either. All in all this is one of the best places we've stayed. Very clean and the chocolates and milk left by the owners was a lovely touch. We'll definitely recommend the cottage to friends and we'll definitely be booking again for next year.- Mcdonald, August 2016
“The peace and tranquillity was wonderful with fantastic panoramic views.”- Mrs Calt, July 2016
“The area and general condition of the property was excellent, The very large garden area was brilliant and safe for our children to run around in and I would recommend this property to anyone for this reason.”- Mr Prater, May 2016
“The cottage was to a very high standard, it was very clean and the views that surrounded the cottage were breath taking.”
The owners were really accommodating. I would high recommend this cottage to anyone and I will be booking again.- Miss Bright, May 2016
“It was warm, very clean and very comfortable.”
It is in a lovely area of the country and was a pleasure to return to after a long day walking.- Mr Bailey, May 2016
“We both agree that this is the best property we had stayed in.”
The bungalow was in an ideal position for the type of holiday we take. The garden was very safely fenced and gated and our dog had the time of his life so it was a holiday for him as well.- Mr Hanglin, November 2015
“This cottage is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and in such a wonderful location.”
The cottage itself is very well equipped and deceptively spacious with the twin room having amazing views out over the garden and to the woods. We were so impressed and happy with our stay that we will be looking at whether we can book again next year and will be recommending this place to anyone who will listen!- Mr Ferguson, October 2015
