  • "There were just a few minor things that could make a good cottage in to a fantastic cottage."

I had to dust one bedroom as everywhere was covered in thick dust. I cleaned skirting boards in all bedrooms and bathrooms. All bedding and towels were spotless as was the kitchen. We found the lack of shelving or storage a problem in the bathrooms, there was nowhere to put toothbrushes/shower gels etc. The wet room could do with a overhaul altogether and a mop in there would have been handy as it just never fully dried and made the floor slippery. The kitchen was clean but could have done with a few more utensils. Our dishwasher didn't work on arrival but we had a new one fit after a couple of days. Our oven broke too resulting in us having to eat out, which dented our budget but the oven was replaced the following day. I am not sure who was at fault regarding the hot tub not being on, sykes or the cottage. It was switched on though and took 24 hours to warm up, one of the main reasons we booked was the hot tub. The position of the cottage as perfect for exploring and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The cottages could be an absolute gem if just a few things were added.

  • "I highly recommend this cottage."

Brilliant location surrounded by the farms, peace and quiet. Our only concern is kitchen wasn’t very equipped, lack of salad bowl, lids pans and also nice comfy outside furniture will be great

  • "My only complaint was that cutting knives were not very sharp which made food preparation troublesome."

A knife sharpener would be helpful. The cottage was very clean, the hot tub was a big hit with the family and we would not hesitate to return to Badger Cottage.

  • "When we arrived, the cottages weren’t very well signposted from the main road."

The drive up to the cottage was like a rollercoaster as it was almost a dirt track road, now, I had an eighty year old with me so she wasn’t too impressed. My car is not designed to do “off road driving”. The cottage itself was very nice and well equipped, beds were extremely comfortable. The hot tub was great, and well maintained by Alex, but there was no privacy getting in and out. The Wi-Fi was non existent as the cottage walls are too thick. If you are looking for a total getaway from modern life, this is the place for you

  • "Had a fabulous time being on this working farm, cottage was what we expected, would prefer to use plastic glasses when in hot tub but not available, also some oven trays or dishes for oven food would be good to have, bathrooms could benefit from some shelving to hold your toiletries, sink washed our dishes as no dishwasher tablets provided for dishwasher which was there, these have always been supplied before when a cottage has a dishwasher available, hottub maybe checked every 2nd day by owners for topup of chemicals, but hottub was fab."

  • "Fantastic few days away!"

My wee girl absolutely loved the place, especially all the farm animals that were sometimes literally right on our doorstep

  • "Only thing that did not meet expectations were lack of cleaning facilities, no mop or bucket to clean flooring in bathrooms."

The large toilet floor was wet constantly with water after using shower and became slippy at times and had a four year old with us. Garden wasn't secure for dogs as they were able to jump wall. Other than that it was a pleasant holiday and nice place to stay.
