  • "We absolutely loved everything about the flat and it’s location."

Just a wee point to note, there were only 3 forks in the cutlery drawer and there were 4 of us in the flat. Wasn’t a big deal for us but just wanted to let you know.

Hi Janette, we're pleased you enjoyed your stay in Moffat. Many thanks for your feedback and our apologies for the lack of cutlery, we're not sure what happened to the forks but we have now replenished the cutlery drawer. Property Owner

  • "What a lovely apartment."

Literally everything you could want was there, it was like being at home. The location was perfect in the town and parking was easy, near all the amenities...if they could organise the weather next time it'd be great. A really chilled out NY

Hi, many thanks for your comments. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and we hope to welcome you back soon. We can't make any promises on the weather unfortunately. Property Owner

  • "This was an excellent base for our two week Scottish Holiday the Flat is very spacious indeed and has everything one might need."

It remind me of saying in Paris. The Main bedroom is very big there is a spacious second bedroom with two beds. At first the traffic noise from the street seemed a bit loud but actually you get used to it and then the flat does become a very peaceful retreat after a busy days waking. We loved living here for 12 days or so everything sir nearby butchers' bakers fish and chip shop local stores restaurants and a great Episcopal church on Sundays round the corner. it really is a very good holiday base. Moffat is located near some beautiful places to walk and we found you could get to Edinburgh easily too. This is one of the best holiday accommodations we have ever stayed in even the art on tehn walls is wonderful. The only slight niggle is that the bath is very narrow and difficult to get out of but as a shower its A1 and brilliant and the bathroom is beautifully equipped .All in all we would give this house ten out of ten it is very very tastefully decorated the bed was very comfortable. Go there it gives you a real holiday

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Moffat and at Church Gate House and many thanks for your feedback. We are aware of the traffic noise and we have had secondary glazing installed to help with this and provide additional insulation for the comfort of our guests. We hope that you return to Moffat and we would love to see you back at Church Gate House soon Property Owner

  • "Great holiday apartment."

Super clean, everything that you need for a holiday. Modern and comfortable. The only slight downside was the morning road noise in the main bedroom...trucks start going past at 5am. If we went again on our own we would sleep in the back bedroom, this time our son was with us and he slept there in silence! Otherwise great apartment.

Hi, Many thanks for your feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Church Gate House. We are aware of the traffic noise from Moffat High Street and we have a date for secondary glazing to be installed throughout the property this month. This will minimise the traffic noise and provide additional insulation to the property. We hope to see you back at Church Gate House soon. Property Owner

About the location

MOFFAT

Dumfries 21 miles

Nestling in the Annandale valley, Moffat developed in the 17th century from a village to a spa town where the sulphurous waters of the Moffat Well were held to have the power to heal and this led to an influx of visitors throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of the buildings in the town date from this period and the present Town Hall was originally developed as a Bath House. The original well can still be visited and is a 1.5 mile walk from the town into the surrounding countryside. In addition to its renown as a spa town, Moffat also grew in stature due to the wool trade and also its position as a stopping point on journeys between England and Scotland. Today the town is popular with tourists and not just because of the superb scenery affording many opportunities for great walking, cycling and fishing. Situated 50 miles from Glasgow and Edinburgh, Moffat is the ideal base for travelling to events in the cities. It has a range of attractions including the Moffat Museum, theatres, art galleries and a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. Treat yourself to some famous Moffat Toffee and don’t miss the annual Moffat Gala in July and not forgetting the renowned Moffat Sheep Races in August!
