“This was an excellent base for our two week Scottish Holiday the Flat is very spacious indeed and has everything one might need.”

It remind me of saying in Paris. The Main bedroom is very big there is a spacious second bedroom with two beds. At first the traffic noise from the street seemed a bit loud but actually you get used to it and then the flat does become a very peaceful retreat after a busy days waking. We loved living here for 12 days or so everything sir nearby butchers' bakers fish and chip shop local stores restaurants and a great Episcopal church on Sundays round the corner. it really is a very good holiday ...

Moffat is located near some beautiful places to walk and we found you could get to Edinburgh easily too. This is one of the best holiday accommodations we have ever stayed in even the art on tehn walls is wonderful. The only slight niggle is that the bath is very narrow and difficult to get out of but as a shower its A1 and brilliant and the bathroom is beautifully equipped .All in all we would give this house ten out of ten it is very very tastefully decorated the bed was very comfortable. Go there it gives you a real holiday

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Moffat and at Church Gate House and many thanks for your feedback. We are aware of the traffic noise and we have had secondary glazing installed to help with this and provide additional insulation for the comfort of our guests. We hope that you return to Moffat and we would love to see you back at Church Gate House soon - Sykes owner relations

About the location

MOFFAT

Dumfries 21 miles

Nestling in the Annandale valley, Moffat developed in the 17th century from a village to a spa town where the sulphurous waters of the Moffat Well were held to have the power to heal and this led to an influx of visitors throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of the buildings in the town date from this period and the present Town Hall was originally developed as a Bath House. The original well can still be visited and is a 1.5 mile walk from the town into the surrounding countryside. In addition to its renown as a spa town, Moffat also grew in stature due to the wool trade and also its position as a stopping point on journeys between England and Scotland. Today the town is popular with tourists and not just because of the superb scenery affording many opportunities for great walking, cycling and fishing. Situated 50 miles from Glasgow and Edinburgh, Moffat is the ideal base for travelling to events in the cities. It has a range of attractions including the Moffat Museum, theatres, art galleries and a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. Treat yourself to some famous Moffat Toffee and don’t miss the annual Moffat Gala in July and not forgetting the renowned Moffat Sheep Races in August!
