  • "Fantastic stay at the ‘Cosy Wee Cottage’."

Jane met us on arrival to show us around which was nice and told us a bit about the area. Cottage has everything you need including the warm wood burning fire. Moffat is very dog friendly and most restaurants and cafes allow dogs which was good. Would definitely recommend the cottage and Moffat and we will be back. Thanks again Jane.

  • "Would have appreciated a bit more interaction with the owner."

She met us on arrival and advised her husband would call round to show how to operate TV. Didn't appear but did eventually manage it ourselves. Instructions which should have been there - weren't. Bedroom TV didn't work at all. Oven also difficult to operate. Beautiful cottage with character, but modern gadgets too technical.

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay in Wee Cottage, a beautifully furnished and cosy cottage just a short stroll from the town's shops, pubs and eateries, of which there was a good selection."

The cottage was perfect for exploring the area around Moffat and it was great to come back each afternoon. We especially enjoyed having the fire lit and there was a plentiful supply of logs. We also really liked the lit staircase, for safety and aesthetic reasons. The cottage had everything we needed, though we wished that we had taken basic cooking items (olive oil, herbs, spices etc) with us.

  • "Had a nice break at this beautiful cottage."

Loved the log fire and the comfy bed. Was disappointed there was no where to sit and do my hair and makeup and plug in hairdryer and straighteners.(eg dressing table) but it was only a three day break so managed ok. Loved Moffat and the locals were very friendly.

  • "This property was stunning."

It was luxurious but still felt homely and cosy. There was plenty of wood to keep the log fire burning. The bed was warm and comfy. Everything has been thought of to make your stay enjoyable. It was well located for the shops, pubs and restaurants but also for lovely long walks. Jane lives next door and was happy to help with anything you needed or to leave you in peace if that’s what you wanted too. I would highly recommend this cottage, especially for solo travellers too.

About the location

MOFFAT

Dumfries 21 miles

Nestling in the Annandale valley, Moffat developed in the 17th century from a village to a spa town where the sulphurous waters of the Moffat Well were held to have the power to heal and this led to an influx of visitors throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of the buildings in the town date from this period and the present Town Hall was originally developed as a Bath House. The original well can still be visited and is a 1.5 mile walk from the town into the surrounding countryside. In addition to its renown as a spa town, Moffat also grew in stature due to the wool trade and also its position as a stopping point on journeys between England and Scotland. Today the town is popular with tourists and not just because of the superb scenery affording many opportunities for great walking, cycling and fishing. Situated 50 miles from Glasgow and Edinburgh, Moffat is the ideal base for travelling to events in the cities. It has a range of attractions including the Moffat Museum, theatres, art galleries and a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. Treat yourself to some famous Moffat Toffee and don’t miss the annual Moffat Gala in July and not forgetting the renowned Moffat Sheep Races in August!
