....although for anyone requiring a bath, some sort of grab handle/rail would be beneficial to steady oneself. I myself am agile but my husband, who prefers a bath is not and found it quite difficult getting in and out of the bath. Good to have the option of bath or shower though. Shower is quick and easy to use. Bath takes at least 30 minutes to fill just a quarter as the bath tap water runs very slowly.

We’re both really happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Strathannan, we try to make the cottage as cosy as possible and it’s great when we read your feedback that some of those little touches are enjoyed by yourselves and others, thanks again for your lovely feedback. We found the cottage comfortable, clean and well supplied with everything we needed. Dog beds were even supplied, dog leads and bowls. A very welcome bottle of wine and a packet of biscuits we’re waiting for us. Those touches mean so much, thank you. The beds are comfortable and bedding modern and pretty. The surrounding area is beautiful and we have wondered why we travelled through Moffat and area so swiftly in the past, on our way to the Highlands and Islands. Thank you for making Strathannan available for holiday let’s.

Many Thanks for such lovely feedback, we try to make the cottage as we would like to find it if we were booking it ourselves, it’s great for us when we receive lovely feedback from yourselves and many others, we also are quite happy when we get suggestions from people who have visited the cottage to anything where we might improve your stay, again many thanks and thank you for booking our cottage. We loved the huge garden for the dogs, and kitchen was well stocked. Also appreciated the welcome gift. The only thing that could have been improved was that the upstairs bedrooms were flooded with light in the morning so we were awake at the crack of dawn. Blackout blinds would be ideal.

Many thanks for the feedback, it’s interesting for us to read the feedback especially regarding the cleaning of the cottage, most people like yourselves leave very positive feedback about how clean the cottage is, we use the same cleaners week in and week out, we are sometimes surprised by the odd few people that leave negative comments about the cleanliness of the cottage when so many people like yourselves leave very positive comments, again thanks for the feedback from all our lovely guests as this helps us immensely to provide a cottage for everyone to enjoy. • "We have been coming to Moffat for 22 years and 7 at Strathannan but the first under new ownership."

The changes they have made have enhanced the Cottage. A welcome wine and biscuits on arrival is always nice. The 'plus' for Strathannan is the good sized rooms, well stocked kitchen and its chill out room downstairs separate to the main living room gives you that nice balance of a quiet room for reading/listening to music rather than the TV. 2 log fires and a well sized garden with great views of the surrounding hills. A great based for walking - it's on the South Upland Way and also allows a nice country mile and a half walk into Town. Only negative is perhaps new sofas could be next for an upgrade but others might think I'm being picky! Overall it's a lovely cottage in a beautiful area. Already booked for a return.

  • "We loved this cottage."

I was coming from Oxfordshire and my friend from Inverness! Not seen each other since before covid so was looking forward to a few days together catching up. We travelled to the property in Moffat the day storm Arwen hit the uk! Arrived at the house on the Saturday afternoon and it was just perfect, a little way out of the village of Moffat but close enough to walk in. (We took a walk on the Sunday into Moffat) It was clean and tidy on arrival lots of logs for the fire in the log store and the home was warm. Just what we needed after a long drive in stormy weather. My friend and I settled in as did the dogs, they loved the log fires once we’d got them going. A little gift of wine and biscuits left on the kitchen table for us was a Lovely touch. The home was clean and lots of space. No upstairs bathroom but not a problem. Garden was enclosed although our little pooches could get under the gate, so always had to go out with them in case they escaped! Sadly due to Storm Arwen we woke up to no power on the Sunday! The property is all electric with the 2 log fires, so had no heating and about 3-4 inches of snow outside!! We got the fires going to warm the property, put a pan on top to boil some water to make a cup of tea. Phoned the pub (using mobiles which thankfully had signal) when open to make sure they had power and went to the pub for Sunday lunch. (The Black Bull in Moffat was great, friendly staff, log fires to warm ourselves by and dog friendly) was a leisurely 45 min walk to town from the property through the snow. By the time we got back home thankfully the power was back on. This was by no means the properties fault at all and we dealt with it as best we could. My friend and I had lots of giggles throughout the day. There’s lots of cafes and places to eat in Moffat. We went on a lovely woodland walk which we got to from town. Edinburgh 1 1/2 hours drive away, We took a trip to the Christmas markets. The house has everything you would need, large garden, comfy beds, great bathroom although took a while to fill the bath! Plus a well equipped kitchen. I would definitely recommend this lovely little cottage. Reminded me of the cottage in the movie The Holiday. Especially when we were lucky enough to wake up to snow on our first morning. Would love to visit again.

About the location

MOFFAT

Dumfries 21 miles

Nestling in the Annandale valley, Moffat developed in the 17th century from a village to a spa town where the sulphurous waters of the Moffat Well were held to have the power to heal and this led to an influx of visitors throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of the buildings in the town date from this period and the present Town Hall was originally developed as a Bath House. The original well can still be visited and is a 1.5 mile walk from the town into the surrounding countryside. In addition to its renown as a spa town, Moffat also grew in stature due to the wool trade and also its position as a stopping point on journeys between England and Scotland. Today the town is popular with tourists and not just because of the superb scenery affording many opportunities for great walking, cycling and fishing. Situated 50 miles from Glasgow and Edinburgh, Moffat is the ideal base for travelling to events in the cities. It has a range of attractions including the Moffat Museum, theatres, art galleries and a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. Treat yourself to some famous Moffat Toffee and don’t miss the annual Moffat Gala in July and not forgetting the renowned Moffat Sheep Races in August!
