  • "The property has been done to a high standard & has everything you need."

    The owners are lovely & friendly & we even met their family which were lovely too! You can ask them for advice on walks etc. and they are happy to help you. It is very peaceful & quiet, like being in the countryside. The welcome pack was well received & a lovely touch. There are some lovely walks to do right from the front door and then chill out in the garden once you get back. Would defo recommend this property.

  • "We were made very welcome."

    Lots of logs were super. Thanks. The cars containers vans etc out the front could be off putting for some. A great romantic hideaway with some great walking/country on the doorstep.

  • "Top quality cottage with everything you could want."

    Lovely peaceful location. Would be even better in warmer weather when the outside space can be utilised. It’s situated in a great position, close to some beautiful coastal and forest walks. The owners were great, left some lovely welcome gifts and were unobtrusive but available if necessary. I’d highly recommend this property.

    The Coach House is in its own grounds attached to the owners property and is lovely, cosy and warm containing everything you need. It is 40 minutes by car to Cairnryan Port where you can go to Belfast for the day. The Titanic Museum is well worth a visit.

    Not suitable for older people because the stairs are very steep; easy to bang your head in the bedroom and bathroom because of the sloping ceilings and the sofa and chair in the living area looks good but too low to be comfortable also the bar stools not comfortable,

    A superb cottage for two----excellent location right on the edge of the town--lovely owners---this was a home from home and truly a cottage amongst cottages--thank you so much for letting us enjoy it

  • "Generous welcome pack from the friendly owners."

    Cottage designed and finished to very high standard with nice design features. Substantial external area with choice of seating areas. Steep stairs to bedroom mean cottage suitable only for fully able bodied. Really enjoyed our stay in this interesting and beautiful part of Scotland and would like to return to cottage and area.

  • "Really good cottage, the conversion has been done to a high standard and the garden with the woodland surrounding was a great bonus."

    So often small cottages designed for 2 x people are rather minimal but not this one. Especially the wonderful ‘grown-up’ sofa unlike the normal stingy two seater! Bathroom was super with a large walk-in shower for hubby and a huge roll top bath for me. (Plenty of hot water too) The hosts were a perfect mix of friendly, helpful but not intrusive Nice area to explore and would recommend Logan Botanical garden, Castle Kennedy gardens and Kirkcudbright for art lovers

    Glorious views of the garden and Galloway Hills. The Coach House is a great centre for attractions in the area, including Crafty Gin Distillery with tours and tasting. Lovely gardens, beaches,forests, historic buildings to visit.

  • "Lovely coach house in a quiet location."

    It is well equipped and comfortable. The owners are next door to assist if required. The settee is very low down, which may be a problem for some. The WiFi is a bit unreliable. The bedroom has a small window behind the headboard which does not have a curtain so let's in light as soon as daylight breaks. There is no washing machine. There are a couple of supermarkets a short drive away.

NEWTON STEWART

Port William 17.2 miles; Kirkcudbright 28 miles; Castle Douglas 30.4 miles;

The market town of Newton Stewart, famous for its salmon and trout fishing, lies in a superb location between the serene rolling countryside of the Machars to the south and the Galloway Forest Park to the north. The area is steeped in history. The first Christian missionary to Scotland landed at The Machars, founding the first church in AD 397 in Whithorn. The Whithorn Dig Visitor Centre lies on the site and displays material dug up over years of excavations. The beautiful coastline is a mixture of sandy beaches and rocky shores teeming with birdlife, whilst inland there is superb walking country to be discovered in the Galloway Hills and Forest Park. Sailing, riding and fishing are all available locally and there are plenty of excellent courses to keep the keen golfer busy.
